unsettling to most anyone. now it is said that congressmen kirk, quigley, and foster will meet the world war ii veterans tomorrow in d.c. they want to make sure that they don't get locked out of the memorial. in lincoln park... julian crews, wgn news. >> that was wgn's julian crews reporting. a delegation of illinois politicians is expected to meet the veterans at the world war ii memorial in washington tomorrow to make sure the veterans get in the memorial. >> government shutdown or not, state and federal-run insurance marketplaces began today as scheduled, and there were glitches. problems included delays and even website crashes for president obama's healthcare law... glitches which the president acknowledged. >> consider that just a couple of weeks ago, apple rolled out a new mobile operating system. and within days, they found a glitch, so they fixed it. i don't remember anybody suggesting that apple stop selling iphones or ipads, or threatening to shut down the company if they didn't. >> delays on the internet were due to high volume as almost 3 million people tried to get on the federal website called healthcare.gov >> as for the illinois health insurance marketplace, it jumped off to a good start. "get covered illinois" says it only saw a few minor glitches that were quickly fixed. it also

officials continue investigating how an out-of-service cta train could roll out on its own, slamming into another train a mile away. the investigation is causing back-ups and confusion for blue line riders. some experienced dangerously overcrowded train platforms and more than doubled commute times. the cta made some service changes to reduce the waiting time between trains, including more short-run trains and shuttle buses to the oak park and forest park stations. >> police in suburban mundelein are trying to find a man who abducted a 3-year-old girl for about a half hour, and then returned her. investigators are also trying to figure out what happened to the child while he had her. wgn's julie unruh is live in mundelein tonight. julie? >> this is a tough one. police certainly want to know what happened in that 30 minutes. and they are running tests. they are asking as many people as they can but remember that she is only 3 years old. the good news is that she was not returned with any obvious signs of trauma but police said they have never seen anything like it. >> in my 19 years of being police officer, i don't recall

an offender bringing a victim back to its crime scene. >> chief eric guenther, trying to make sense of a crime that doesn't really make sense at all. it was 5:30 pm monday when a 3-year-old girl, following her mother and her 9-yea-old sister inside this apartment complex in the 500 block of deepwoods drive, found herself trapped inside the vestibule with her sister... a stranger also among them. their mother was only steps away. >> there's a short conversation 10-15 seconds..car in the vicinity. that is when the offender grabbed her and took her back to his vehicle. >> angelica watched the whole thing from her balcony. her 11 year old daughter translated for us tonight. >> she was on the balcony talking to her brother when the black car stopped here. >> police arrived on the scene almost immediately. in that time, alberto swall said two teenage girls told him that they, too, had been approached by the same guy in this 4-door hyundai... a black, maybe blue car, with after-market wheels

>> these little girl has been questioned by police and checked out by doctors but no professionals can ascertain whether she has been physically harmed or not. test results should revealed more with time, and so should surveillance cameras. tonight, a chicago police are inside working with detectives here trying to create a sketch of this offender and they hope to have won to deliver to the public by this morning. >> a woman from coal city is suing the lasalle county sheriff's office after she was strip searched during a dui arrest. attorneys representing 33-year-old dana holmes provided this video to the chicago tribune. she was booked in may after her blood alcohol level registered nearly three times the legal limit. three males and a female wrestled her to the floor in the lock-up after she appeared to show some resistance. all of her clothes were removed and she stayed naked for two minutes before being given a blanket. her attorney, terry ekl, points out there is no mention in police

>> in tonight's medical watch... a new way to fight cancer with a blood pressure drug. the medication works to open blood vessels typically collapsed by tumors. that gives chemotherapy a better chance at moving through the body to attack the cancer. "losartan" worked to boost treatment, in studies at massachusetts general hospital, on both breast and pancreatic tumors. women have an option to battle breast cancer even before surgery. the food and drug administration approved the first drug for early stage treatment. it's called "perjeta" and it targets her2- positive breast cancers. by adding perjeta, doctors say women were able to have a smaller lump removed instead of requiring a mastectomy, and patients who used it nearly doubled their chances of remaining cancer free. a red wine ingredient, touted for its health benefits, may cause problems for people with multiple sclerosis. resveratrol, known for having anti-inflammatory and antioxidant power, may have an

defense of the stanley cup tonight on the west side. the regular season opener against washington was almost an afterthought as the hawks raised their championship banner before the game. quite a sight before the game tonight, a championship tribute video playing on the scoreboard. and then all of the players get the spotlight introduction... duncan keith brought the cup to center ice and then captain jonathan toews held it up for the fans, and then finally the final piece of last season's championship... stanley cup banner number five is raised to the united center rafters. and minutes after the banner was raised, they dropped the puck on the 2013-14 season... and it didn't take the blackhawks long to get on the board. niklas hjalmarsson shot and brandon bollig outfought the caps defenseman in front for the first goal of the season... 1-0 hawks four minutes in. alex ovechkin tied it, but then 24 seconds later it's patrick kane putting the hawks back on top. 2-1 hawks after one. tied at two in the 2nd, hawks on the power play. brent seabrook as he's falling to the ice, it's 3- 2 hawks. in the third, washington was able to get the lead. tied at 3, mike green lined it up and mikhail grabovski tipped it in, 4-3 caps. but the hawks tied it and then johnny oduya gave them the lead. 5-4 hawks late in the 3rd. they are right now trying to kill a penalty that the
