found in his home. william j ross was arrested in las vegas yesterday afternoon. nobody had lived in the home for over a year, and a caretaker maintained the property. that caretaker called police when he found the remains of a long-deceased body in a garbage bag. an autopsy was performed, but so far, no cause of death has been identified. police want you to take a look at this sketch. they say a man who looks like this, sexually assaulted a teenage girl in a parking lot in gary. he drove alongside a 14- year-old girl on monday morning, and asked her if she was lost and wanted a ride. she said, "yes." he took her to the parking lot at 47th and pierce in gary, and forced her to perform a sex act. she eventually ran off, and the man sped away. the suspect was driving a silver vehicle. he is described as black, older, balding, heavy set, and has gray and black facial hair on his chin. new information, just within the past few minutes, from the philippines. cnn is reporting there are at least one-hundred bodies in the streets, a result of the super typhoon that roared through today. homes are flattened. power and communications are knocked out.

and almost 800-thousand have been displaced. the typhoon has weakened and moved on. but it is expected to pick up steam this weekend, and hit vietnam sunday morning. evacuations have already begun in that country. in the midst of it all, a daring rescue. the typhoon tossed two huge barges around like toys, sending the crews overboard into chaotic waters. rescuers were eventually able to reach the crewmembers, but they all remained in the water for almost an hour, fighting the current. nearly everyone made it back to port safely but one crew member remains missing. airports across the country paused today to honor the tsa agent killed in the shooting at l-a-x. agents halted the line and stopped checking i-ds and tickets to observe a moment of silence for gerardo hernandez. this happened at 11:20 chicago time, the moment gunman paul ciancia opened fire last week, killing hernandez and wounding 3 others, including a suburban chicago native. setting the record straight. charlie trotter's wife speaking out today about his death. the celebrity chef suffered a seizure as a result of an aneurysm back in january, and a police report indicated that trotter had flown monday night, despite doctor's orders saying he shouldn't get on a plane. not true, according to rochelle trotter. in a statement, she says "his doctors prescribed the proper medication to control seizures, his blood pressure and high cholesterol and he was seen by a number of medical experts who cleared him to travel." trotter died tuesday. the autopsy was inconclusive. he was

in tonights medical watch ... theyre living longer healthier lives than ever before but their healthcare needs arent fully understood. thats why one local doctor whos devoted his practice to adults with down syndrome wants to share his experience. "hi michelle, how are you? good to see you." for 22 years, dr brian chicoine has treated patients with down syndrome. its his lifes work and he loves every minute. "i do ... the folks with down syndrome, thats the highlight." he knows his patients well. "hows basketball?" all 5,500 of them at advocates adult down syndrome center in park ridge. "we have the advantage now of having seen over 5500 people. there isnt anyone else with that sample size in the united states. we want to take that information and share that." not only would dr chicoine like to share his deep understanding of the patients so near and dear to his heart, hed like to create specific screening guidelines for what is now an

aging population. "even as late as the 1980 the life expectancy was only in the 20s and 30s and now its shot all the way up to 60. so some of these screening issues in the past really were not important because we didnt worry about what to do for adults b/c there werent any." thats because 40 to 60 percent of babies born with down syndrome have congenital heart disease. surgical advancements have made a significant impact - boosting survival rates. patients are living longer - presenting new challenges their caregivers. "there wasnt evidence based recommendations with regards to just the routine screenings. everyone would typically have mammograms, colon cancer screening, etc." but some common diseases among the general population arent as common among adults with down syndrome. colon and breast cancer rates are low. and even though there is a higher incidence of obesity among people with down syndrome, doctors see very little heart disease, high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes.

"its almost non-existent in people with down syndrome." "there are some conditions that are more common, for example celiac disease is more common in people with down syndrome." christine maxwell is among them. "i had to change my diet because im a celiac." shes mastered the art of preparing gluten-free meals. still, the diagnosis took her by surprise. the 36-year-old hadnt experienced typical symptoms, but a routine blood test revealed her allergy. most cases arent as clear. "the blood test for people with down syndrome is not as accurate as it is in people without down syndrome. if we are going to have screening, perhaps there is something different we need to do." good news? an injury will like leave the bears without their breakout defensive star from monday's win at green bay, defensive end shea mcclellin. cutler once again was full-go in practice, getting ready for the rematch with the lions. but now the bears have a new injury on defense: mcclellin, the nfc defensive player of the week with 3 sacks against the packers, hurt his hamstring thursday. he's doubtful for detroit and a key divisional matchup. number one, on a personal level, i feel bad for him if he does not play because he had a good game last week. we all knew that and he was moving in the right direction. i am disappointed for him. we have said it odd year. we have to find a way to do it with the guys we have and that would beat david bass and archeta probably up and we go from there.
