condition. no one has been arrested. four people are in critical condition after a high school student in pennsylvania went on a rampage with two kitchen knives. andrew spencer reports. >> police say the 16 year-old stabbed 20 fellow students and a security officer in the crowded hallway of the high school. >> he just ran down the hall with the knife and my best friend stepped in front of me and got stabbed in the back. i held his hand and he wouldn't let go the whole way to the hospital. he didn't let go. >> an assistant principal at the school help stop the rampage. >> he took the kid down behind him with both jumped on him and immobilized him. >> not before nearly two dozen people had been stabbed. the community held vigils for the victims. >> we ask and pray.

>> offering what support they could amid the tragedy. >> it is heartbreaking. it really is. >> we've been listening to the news for six or eight hours and it's the same bad news the numbers kept right rising. >> he faces four counts of attempted homicide, 21 counts of aggravated assault and the charge of having a weapon on school grounds. >> the search for the missing malaysian passenger jet is now focused on an area smaller than the state of west virginia. but it's been two days since a navy ship picked up the last underwater signals that could be from the plane's "black box." a u.s. navy ping locator is still trolling through the indian ocean, listening for any faint signal from the plane's locator beacon. if the pinger locator finds something, a small bluefin submarine can then conduct a slower, more thorough search. the faculty at u-i-c has voted to strike again. they plan to start picketing april 23rd, unless an agreement can be reached with the administration before then. two more bargaining sessions

are scheduled for next week. both sides are at odds over pay and promotion opportunities for full-time faculty who are non-tenured. the faculty went on strike for two days in february. no end date has been set, if they strike again. faculty members have not had a contract since unionizing in 2012. a chicago eye doctor is charged with secretly video taping female patients. tonya francisco is live outside one of two offices where prosecutors say cameras were hidden. his career hangs in the balance this morning. he is free after posting 10% of his $75,000 bail. the prosecutors say the prominent eye surgeons secretly videotaped the least four female employees in the bathroom at his office one at the illinois masonic hospital and the other at the chicago eye institute in irving park between march 25th

and april 2nd. a female employee here was the first to find the camera velcro inside of the toilet tank after using the bathroom and discovering a hole in the tank on april 2nd. police were called and found the marker disc also had images of another woman from the office and two other women in the locker room of the masonic office. we try to speak to someone who was an employee but the ran from our camera. a former patient who did not want to be identified says she was always somewhat ... they said he was creepy and made her feel uncomfortable. >> he made it to where he thought i was beautiful he said i was attractive. he gave me a hug when i left the office. just little things that weren't normal doctor patient things.

>> illinois masonic hospital issued a statement saying he no longer works there but no information about his status here at the eye institute. with the charges that he faces, he could be convicted and spend three years behind bars. >> two people have been arrested in another secret videotaping investigation... this one at a gym near kenosha. a man from waukegan and a woman from pleasant prairie, wisconsin, are facing charges after two cameras were found in the women's locker room at the rec-plex gym in pleasant prairie. waukegan police also recovered evidence at the man's home. police say the cameras may have been in place from january until they were discovered monday. it's unknown how video from the cameras was used and whether any was distributed. taking a look at the *other top stories this morning. a large brush fire is burning in the far northern suburbs. the fire started around six last night at illinois beach state park in zion.

crews from dozens of police and fire departments had it under control by ten, but they are still on the scene ... which is about 18 blocks long and two blocks wide. no structures are in danger, and no injuries have been reported. some trains have been delayed. a house was destroyed by a fire that started when a propane gas grill tank exploded. this happened in northwest suburban crystal lake, near the fox river, yesterday. no one was home. firefighters kept the flames from spreading to other homes. a piece of the propane tank was found in a neighbor's yard. chicago police issued a community alert after a man tried to solicit sex from a 14- year-old boy. it happened in the 49-hundred block of west fullerton, around nine monday night. police say the boy was walking, when a man came up to him and asked for sexual relations. the boy was able to run away. a church employee in cicero is jailed on more than two million dollars bond, after being charged with sexually abusing at least six boys. police say juan ferreras lured boys as young as nine years old to his apartment, then abused them.

ferreras worked at sonido de alabanza church on west 25-th street. he is the son of the pastor. the office of congressional ethics is investigating congressman bobby rush. right now we don't know what the congressman is being investigated for. in december, the tribune reported that his wife earned more than 300-thousand dollars as his campaign consultant over the last five years. some campaign money also went to the church rush started. rush's attorney says they'll cooperate with the investigation, but the situation being reviewed doesn't warrant any ethics sanctions. the chicago public school system has found another 70 million dollars to pump into local school budgets in the coming year. a one-time accounting change, and some cost reductions, will free up the extra money. the civic federation warns, the accounting adjustment-- essentially borrowing from next year's property tax revenues -- is risky. schools had to cut their budgets early this year because of falling enrollment and general funding shortages. the chicago firefighters union leadership has reached a tentative agreement with the

city on a new contract. the deal reportedly includes an 11-percent raise over five years, some of it would be retroactive to 2012. a full union vote will likely happen in several weeks. the union's president said the deal is fair to both sides. mayor emanuel's office called it a "responsible approach". a hotel in the gold coast hopes you'll be willing to pay for its tribute to "national grilled cheese month." the ritz carlton is serving up this, "zillion dollar grilled cheese." now it doesn't cost a zillion dollars, but it does have a 100- dollar price tag. it's sourdough bread with ham, 40 year old cheddar, and it's sprinkled with 24 karat gold flakes. it also comes with a side of mac and cheese topped with lobster meat. the hotel recommends you split this with someone, and probably the bill too. gold flakes? what is wrong with people? >> all that helps the digestion except for the cheese. >> the 40 old cheese will not help. >> that will get it moving for the dead. today are temperatures are armed the warm-up. our high yesterday was only 62. we will

off the road, and the car ended up crashing into a day care center. one of the children inside was killed. the man in the s-u-v then drove away. it happened yesterday in orlando, florida. a dozen others were injured -- some of them critically. police have since found the s- u-v. but they're still looking for the driver. he's identified as robert corchado... and it's believed, he's trying to flee the orlando area. a pilot was injured when the helicopter he was flying crashed on the roof of a hospital. it happened at university of new mexico hospital in albuquerque. a witness says the chopper

lifted off then started to wobble before crashingear the helipad. three people were aboard when it went down -- none of them patients. two members of the crew escaped unharmed. the top floor of the hospital was evacuated as a precaution. a family is back home after it was rescued at sea. eric and charlotte kaufman planned to take their three and one year old daughters on a yearlong trip around the world. they were one-thousand miles away from mexico when the one year old got very sick. the coast guard, national guard, and navy rescued them after their boat lost the ability to steer. the agencies say they don't plan to charge them for the rescue. when they returned to land, the daughter was treated for vomiting, diarrhea, and fever. some say it's a miracle, but others aren't so sure. a statue of the virgin mary is drawing large crowds to a church in northwest indiana. believers say there is a tear stain down the face of the statue at saint mary's church in griffith. a group of children who were leaving bible study on monday noticed it first. once word began to spread, visitors started showing up to see it for themselves.

play out. >>a rapper from chicago was shot and killed last night. 30-year-old mario hess was known as "blood money." he was the second cousin of rapper "chief keef." like his cousin, hess had just recently signed a recording deal with interscope records. one of his songs -- "thought he was" --- has been viewed two million times on you tube. at around 9:30 last night, hess was found on a sidewalk near 56-th and hess, shot to death. another man was shot, and he is in serious condition. no one has been arrested in the shooting. injured in a stabbing rampage at a high school near pittsburgh. 16-year-old alex hribal was arraigned as an adult in the stabbing spree which injured a total of 20 students and a security officer. witnesses say the boy ran down a hall with two kitchen knives slashing everyone he could reach. >> my best friend stepped in front of me and was stabbed in the back. i held his hand and he

the eye institute in urban park. police say last week a female employee at the eye institute had just finished using the bathroom when she found the camera velcro inside the toilet tank. police were called and found a micro disk also had images of another woman from the office and two others in the locker room of the illinois masonic office. when we tried to speak to someone who was an employee, they ran from our camera. a former patient who did not want to be identified says she flipped out when she heard the news. >> there was a creep factor. he made it to 30 he said i was attractive. i went to him because he was a good doctor and he is so well respected. >> prosecutors say they have video tape of the doctor putting the camera in a locker room at the masonic hospital. they released a statement yesterday

saying the doctor is no longer works there. his status here is not yet clear. if he is convicted of the four felony counts of unauthorized the taping, he could pay face three years in jail. >>the cross examination of oscar pistorius continues at his murder trial. pistorius has been on the witness stand for four days now. the prosecution is trying to prove that he intentionally shot and killed his girlfriend reeva steenkamp. but he says it was an accident. today, the prosecutor tried to portray pistorius as self- centered and questioned the feelings between him and the victim. >> the phrase i love you appears twice. what is that? both times she wrote that to her mother. never to you. and you never to her. >> that's correct. i never got

stress disorder. >>a bill to help chicago erase its public pension debt, is now on governor quinn's desk. and quinn has two months to decide whether to sign it. tuesday, state lawmakers signed off on a bill to require city employees to make bigger contributions to their pension funds. they left a citywide property tax hike up to the city council. mayor emanuel is urging the governor to sign the bill. >> we are going to provide our workers and residents the certainty so they have a retirement they can rely on. want to contribute to done in response away that balances out and meets everything. >> it's complicated. looking at everything from top to bottom. >> the chicago teachers union is urging the governor to *veto the pension bill. cook county also faces a pension crunch. the chicago tribune reports, county board president toni preckwinkle is promoting a plan to raise the retirement age... require county employees to pay more into their pensions... and reduce annual cost-of-living raises in pension benefits.

she also wants to pump another 140 million dollars a year in the pensions... but she doesn't know where she'll get the money. she may have to consider a tax hike. the mayor's office says the bike sharing program has surpassed the 2 million mi. mark. the bikes have taken on 900,000 trips 15,000 people signed up for annual passes. >> chicago's obesity rate is 25- percent. that puts us just below the national average of 27-percent. america's three fattest cities are memphis, san antonio and richmond virginia. the top three fittest are denver, san diego, san jose california. boulder, outside denver, has the distinction of being the only u-s city with less than 15 percent obesity. the statistics were compiled by the gallup organization. there's no need to read a woman's mind or body language if she's wearing this. this dress is called intimacy "two point oh." its made with either white cloth or black fake leather. there are also some strategically placed strips.

the boston marathon bombing might have been prevented, if russia had shared information about one of the suspects with the united states. the new york times cites an inspector general's review.

it says, russia knew, from tapping tamerlan tsarnaev's phone in 2011, that he had become a follower of radical islam. but that knowledge wasn't shared with american officials until *after the boston bombings, two years later. another athlete is revealing that he's gay. u-mass guard derrick gordon is now the first openly-gay men's college basketball player. gordon says coming out is the best feeling ever, after hiding the truth for the past four years. he says his team has been supportive, and he's looking forward to next season. nirvana will have a guest singer when it gets inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame if you missed the simpsons, you'll have a chance to catch it... all of it... every episode. f-x-x, the sister station of f- x will air a 12-day marathon of bart, homer and the gang. it'll start august 21st and run through labor day. there are 552 episodes of the series, which has been running for 25 seasons.
