of south jeffery. the car also hit a jeep. a police officer was injured in the accident... but the injuries were minor. investigators say the two women in the car ran off, but were arrested at home a short time later. five children are in the hospital this morning ... the latest victims of gunfire in chicago. judy wang is at stroger hospital with more. to girls are here at the hospital. one of them is an 11 year-old from washington who was shot twice, once in the chin and in the neck. suffered a broken collarbone and a punctured lung. the other girl was hit in the arm. her condition is stabilized. the kids were shot near 66 and south michigan at about 730. they were attending a family easter barbecue hosted by an awful lot to of the victims. the article says the kids left the party to go play basketball. a great car approached the group. someone in the vehicle

asked the kid the belong to a gang. they said no and someone in the car shot them injuring four girls and a boy. a 14 year- old was shot in the abdomen. she is in serious condition. also at the hospital, a 14 year-old who was shot in the leg. police have not made any arrests in the case. the fifth victim is a 14 year-old who suffered a wound was treated at the hospital. >>police in suburban montgomery shot six people at an easter party early sunday morning. four men and two women - all in their 20's - were sitting inside a garage at a home in the 13-hundred block of jackson street - when the shooter walked up ... and fired several shots. >> several people were in the garage just listening to music and talking with a male hispanic came from the east and walked up to the area here behind me and

started to shoot into the garage. >> the victims were taken to hospitals. their conditions are unknown. police say they are a looking for a man who may be driving a gold s-u-v with black tire rims. leaves a cook county corrections officer and a chicago police officer dead in their southwest side home. police say javier acevedo fatally shot his wife, veronica rizzo-acevedo, before turning the gun on himself early sunday morning. they were both 50 years old. the couple had gone to their parish priest for counseling. >> they are both good people. they are both very good people. they really tried hard and something just snapped. >> the couple's teenaged daughter was in the home and heard the shots before calling police. taking a look at the *other top stories this morning. a newborn baby boy was found dead in a gangway between homes in the logan square neighborhood. a worker who was fixing a basement in the 27-hundred block of north hamlin found the body

in a shopping bag. the umbilical cord was still connected. prosecutors say this man's blood alcohol level was nearly three times the legal limit before a deadly crash. aaron neal is being held on bail in the cook county jail for aggravated d-u-i. prosecutors say he crashed into a divider between the skyway and the dan ryan early saturday morning. one of the three passengers in the car was killed. the f-b-i is looking for two men who robbed a bank on chicago's west side saturday morning. one of the men was caught on camera as he used a gun to hold up the b-m-o harris bank in the 49-hundred block of west north avenue. police say the men made off with an undisclosed amount of cash. a reward is being offered for information in the case. more crew members of the sunken ferry in south korea are facing charges, as more bodies are being recovered. 64 people are dead, and 238 others are still missing. andrew spencer has more. >> a south korean presidentpark geun-hye did not hold back yesterday.

confrontation at a pro-russia checkpoint in *eastern ukraine. an easter morning shootout left five people dead in the city of slovyansk . pro-russia leaders in control of the city immediately imposed a curfew. they blame ukrainian ultra- nationalists for the incident... and they want moscow to send troops. the ukrainian secret service says the confrontation was instigated by *outsiders, to give russia an excuse to invade, and seize control of more of the country. a 16-year-old boy survived a 5-and-a-half hour flight from california to hawaii stowed away in the wheel well of a jet. the f-b-i says surveillance video from the san jose airport confirms the boy jumped a fence and climbed into the belly of hawaiian airlines flight 45. he was found on the tarmac in

maui after the flight landed. investigators say he's lucky to have survived the freezing temperatures and lack of oxygen at 38-thousand feet. other stow-aways have been killed during much shorter flights. easter services were interrupted when a car came crashing through a church. that happened at the second haitian baptist church, in fort myers, florida. police say the driver said her brakes failed as she entered the church parking lot. she crashed into the sanctuary and pinned several people underneath her car. other parishioners used jacks to lift the car up. police say they're treating this as an accident and not a criminal act. police in california arrest two men accused of stabbing nurses inside two different hospitals. one of those nurses is in critical condition after she was stabbed in her abdomen with a knife. police arrested 26-year-old romiro carnalla. they say at 2 a-m yesterday, he ran past a security checkpoint at a hospital in sylmar and randomly attacked the nurse. hours later, thomas fredette entered a hospital in torrance

and stabbed a nurse in the ear with a pencil. the woman was able to run from fredette and was treated for her injuries. fredette was arrested at the scene. the two attacks were not related. miss america was visiting a high school in pennsylvania, when a senior thought it would be a good opportunity to ask her to the prom. but this story didn't have the predictable ending of the celebrity accepting the invitation. instead, student patrick farves was suspended for three days. he ignored the warnings of school officials not to disrupt miss america nina davaluri's visit. she may not be going to the dance with him... but miss america says she hopes the school will reconsider farves' suspension. >> he's just trying to work it a bit. give him a break. if the chances there you have to take it. >> good for him. but he should not be suspended. she said no but don't suspend him. 53

a young explorer made a pre- historic discovery. nine year old philip stoll was checking out a creek by his house in michigan when he found this . it's the tooth of a mastodon, which has been extinct for ten- thousand years. the tooth is about eight inches long and has six peaks. a professor at michigan state confirmed that this was the upper part of the tooth, which was broken off at the roots. that's pretty cool. >> that is awesome. >> let that sink in ... >> for people just waking up they needed to adjust their eyes. early today we have one temperatures. yesterday's 79 in the afternoon. today we hit 74 degrees by 2:00 p.m.. you may need to break out your shorts again. in my household which consists of just main wheat broke the mount.

paramedics arrived. tens of thousands of people gathered in denver this weekend to celebrate the annual four- twenty pot festival. the underground celebration as gone public now that marijuana use is legal in colorado. people came from across the country to take part in the festival - which included a "smoke-out" at 4:20 p-m. it is still illegal to smoke marijuana publicly in colorado. police say they ticketed or arrested 47 people yesterday for public consumption of pot. i've read that incorrectly. icin. i said legal. but it is illegal. the four-twenty reference to marijuana started in the 70's - when a group of teens would meet afterschool at 4:20 to smoke pot. >> i think a lot of people are coming for the first time. >> it's about the rebirth and renewal and that's what this is all about. something that has been around longer than any of us. >> the reference started back in the 1970's when a group of

teenagers would meet after school at 4:20 p.m.. there were rallies in several other states yesterday by groups pushing for the legalization of marijuana. >> you learn something new every day on this show. a restaurant chain in seattle held a controversial easter promotion... offering what it called a "jesus burger." "lunchbox laboratory" ran an ad showing jesus holding a marijuana cigarette...together with the pitch "when i get back, all i want is the burger of the gods." it goes on, "buy one burger of the gods, and get the second one free on easter sunday." >> people who are more religious maybe have some mixed feelings. but i'm just selling burgers. >> a less-controversial ad for the chain showed an easter bunny smoking a joint, saying, "'sup?" that is definitely less controversial. a new study says chicago is the funniest city in america. that's according to a study at the university of colorado at boulder.
