meet the disclaims river is 2 ft. above flood stage at least at this point. not expected to fall back below until thursday morning. all over our area there were problems due to the torrential rain last night. widespread closures in many areas. to the north, there was a closure, a shut down every 41. 176 due to the standing water. it stranded drivers for hours. a few people just abandoned their vehicle. some had to be rescued from flooded out cars and hopes. >> cars for getting flooded out on the side streets they're looking for ways to get around and getting themselves into for their predicaments. the water is not subsiding the reality is there's not a lot of places for it to go. >> it's been raining pretty hard. still have an hour to go if i ever get moving.

>> in the glenview the heavy rain turned part of glendale road into a river and some home owners are dealing with water damage. same as the case here in displayed a stretch of the road was also impossible. both closures have since been cleared. but residual problems here are the campground road and the flood warnings are going to stretch through 1230 this afternoon at least until these rains and the rains that demetrius talked-about are not helping matters. back to you. >>in des plaines ... a busy stretch of oakton road was shut down after standing water made it impassable. several streets were under water throughout the evening, and

alley started shooting them. all the victims are hospitalized in stable condition. police made no arrests, but they say this appears to be gang related. a 15-year-old boy is charged as an adult with the murder of vaughn holeman in a mother's day shooting in the west pullman neighborhood police say the suspect was standing with holeman on the 200 block of west 116th when he fired at a passing car. but he hit holeman instead with two of the shots ... killing him. holeman's grandmother told the tribune that his father was also shot to death on the street back in 2010. chicago police released this sketch of a man who murdered a business owner in the goldthe suspect has a tattoo on the right side of his neck that may include the word "pam" with a ribbon underneath. herbert goode was shot and killed during a robbery, on the 23-hundred block of west 57-th street. he had just collected 34- hundred dollars in cash for rent. that money was gone after goode was shot. police in south holland are looking for leads in the murder of a woman in her home last week. they questioned the ex- boyfriend of 33-year-old rachael galbreath last friday, but let him go. he moved out of her home, just

days before the attack. investigators are asking galbreath's friends, co-workers and relatives to share any information that may lead them to a suspect. a second case of *mers, or middle eastern respiratory syndrome, has been confirmed in the u-s. doctors say the new case is in florida. the patient is a 44 year old health worker who lives and works in saudi arabia. the first case in this country, also involved a person who spent time in saudi arabia. he has been released from community hospital in munster, indiana. school officials in winnetka are warning parents about a dangerous "dare" game being promoted on the social media. in the "cold water challenge," a student is dared to jump into the icy waters of lake michigan, while someone else records the stunt and then posts it online. at 37 degrees, the water is cold enough to cause hypothermia. plus, students have been injured jumping off the rocks. the body of a 16-year-old boy was pulled from a lake in minnesota friday, after friends said *he took part in the cold water challenge.

wednesday. thursday, 55. >> looks like we have some issues on the roads. we are going to start with some flashing lights. that goes from 79 up to 75. as to continue to approach the intersections, everything is hitting the brakes. eastbound on the indiana toll at wolf lake left lane closed for road work i can't imagine they will be doing much construction with all this weather, but it's very slow. we have the delay from the state line all the way to broadway. basically clean blockage is causing some slow speeds as low as 6 mi. per hour. pretty heavily congested through the pocket. other than that, everything else is moving along well. whenever we get this slow conditions ever the serbs to break it makes it very heavy early on. still dealing with flooded out roads and grand avenue of away from relief.

a 14 year old girl is in the hospital after a hit and run in joliet. this happened on route 53 last night. the girl was seriously injured, but her condition has not been released. police say the driver left the scene after he hit the girl, but then he came back about 30 minutes later. john severson is charged with leaving the scene of an accident. he will appear in will county bond court today. another round of violent storms created more headaches in the area. >> nancy loo is live with more. >> good morning. here's the rain that we're talking about. it's not helping this situation. here i am in the middle of campgrounds road. this section is closed behind me. the viaduct is flooded out. behind me the this planned river remains about 2 ft. above flood stage. not expected to go back below flood stage until thursday morning. throughout the area, there is flooding problems. their

arrived in kiev in a fresh attempt to find a diplomatic solution to the ukraine crisis. former treasury secretary timothy geithner accuses illinois senator mark kirk of some un-patriotic actions in a new book. geithner says kirk, a republican, warned chinese dog owners are trying to rally support for some much needed renovation of their favorite dog park at montrose beach. the owners say the beach used to be well-maintained, but the park district seems to have forgotten the beach. fences are broken, with dangerous edges sticking out... and it's not as safe for dogs as it once was. now, there's an online campaign to pressure the park district to send out the repairmen. >> it has gone to hell since the mayor has been here. it hasn't been up cap. i have a man of the com. >> it looks like it has been forgotten. it would be great if it was more secure. >>the park district insists, it tries to keep the fences in good repair. the melting of a major ice sheet in antarctica appears unstoppable according to a new study by nasa. the study reveals a section of glaciers on the west antarctic ice sheet in the amunden sea is melting faster than previously

predicted and scientists say it's too late to do anything about it. researchers say it will likely take the glaciers several centuries to melt completely but when they do - the world's sea level could increase about three feet by the year 21- hundred. tourists are flocking to yosemite national park in california for a chance to find a fungus. they're hoping to find very rare and expensive mushrooms called morels. last year, a fire destroyed more than a quarter million acres at yosemite and morels thrive near burned and decaying trees. morels are so rare -- they sell for more than 45 dollars pound. but park rangers at yosemite are turning away the mushroom hunters because it's still too dangerous to re-open the forest due to falling trees and rock slides. that's not stopping some of the fungi fans - who have been ticketed and fined 350 bucks for entering the forest. >> the could still turn a profit. if they pay for the air crimes with those mushroom payments. gramm of your mind is doing that math early. we

killed in new hampshire while he was responding to a domestic dispute. it happened in the town of brentwood yesterday afternoon. police officer steve arkell was killed ... as he entered a home that later caught fire and exploded. a news helicopter was hovering over the house when the blast happened. the suspected gunman was killed in the explosion and fire. officer arkell was married and the father of two teenage girls. state and federal agencies are investigating the incident. flags in new hamphsire will be flown at half-staff in officer arkells honor. an outcry forced the cancellation of a satanic mass. the harvard expansion club originally planned to have the event but the club pulled out when a flood of angry e-mail offer to withdraw. so stripped-
