temperature 86 degrees. today we are back in the '60s. temperatures will drop a bit. not a cool day typical high around 70. expect mostly sunny skies today presented this afternoon. 58 degrees at the lakefront. it's 54 in waukegan. 56 in aurora. satellite and radar composite shows cloud cover across the county. with showers and thunderstorms that we saw yesterday i think we do deserve some dry weather. expected to stay dry through saturday. next chance of rain is on sunday. temperatures in the '60s by 5:00 p.m.. it will be cooler along the lakefront. saturday we will reach 73 degrees. but go over to sarah. >> you guys are giving me a lot

sports. the cubs say they're ready to move forward with the renovation of wrigley field, despite the threat of lawsuits. the team has a new plan that would block the view from the rooftops even more. tonya francisco is live at wrigley field with the latest. tonya? >> good morning. this was obviously an elaborate pre planned move. at midnight they released a videotape announcement that they are moving forward with significant renovations to the field that go beyond previously announced plans. in the video the cubs chairman says he wanted them to hear it from him first. pointing up the shortcomings of the ballpark try to explain why this is necessary to move forward with these expanded plants. the revised proposal goes beyond plans to put the big screen out

in the fields. the new proposal features more large electronic signs, additional seats, bigger clubhouses and the relocation of the bullpen from the territory to a spot under the bleachers by removing bricks and some ivy covering the space with a material that would allow them on to the field. the team has been negotiating with the owners for more than a year to avoid a lawsuit or blocked views. but those talks have not gone anywhere. they say the family can delay no longer. >> we spent endless hours negotiating. we've gotten nowhere in this business. it has to end. it's time to move forward. i have to put the team and the fans first. >> a spokesman for the rooftop owners released a statement that says we will see you in court.

the decision to you about unilaterally ended negotiations with their contractual partners is another refusal to exempt any of the solutions that could have funded the modern mind imodernin of the field. the cubs will present this to the city today and if approved the cubs say they are ready to move ford with the renovations. >> a defrocked priest who was sentenced to five years in prison for sexually abusing children was arrested on a new allegation. daniel mccormack was taken into custody yesterday after being served a warrant for aggravated criminal sexual abuse. the newest allegation involves a 10-year-old boy. police say it happened in the months before mccormack was arrested for the first time in january of 2006. mccormack pled guilty in 2007

to molesting five boys while he was a priest and basketball coach at saint agatha on the west side. he was paroled two years later, and has been kept in custody at a state mental health facility until a petition to keep him committed indefinitely is resolved. >> i believe if the church officials had done the right thing, most of those children would never have had their innocence shattered. >>mccormack is expected to appear in bond court today. the archdiocese of chicago is not commenting on his arrest. police hope surveillance photos lead them to a man who tried to sexually assault a woman near a c-t-a blue line stop. the suspect followed the 19- year-old woman from the clark and lake station to the stop near halsted and van buren. after she left the train, he followed her, and attacked her in the 900 block of van buren. she was able to get away from the man ... and called police immediately. a northwest side woman was ordered held without bond, after police charged her with murdering her 3-year-old daughter. police say maria espinoza- perez made up a story that two men broke into her apartment

sunday and hurt her daughter ashley mendoza. eventually, she admitted she had abused her daughter for years. ashley's body was severely bruised... some of her bones may have been broken... and some of her teeth were missing. a marine from illinois has died on a training mission. steven hancock, of downstate coal city, fell out of a helicopter in north carolina monday. investigators say hancock was aboard the chopper when it lifted off... but not when it landed. his body was discovered tuesday, in a blueberry field. it is not clear how hancock fell out of the aircraft. hancock was a chew chief with the second marine aircraft wing. >> a loud protest demanding higher wages and the right to unionize ended with more than 100 arrests at mcdonald's headquarters in oak brook. about 15-hundred people carried banners calling for pay of 15 dollars an hour up the driveway of the corporate campus. they were met by 250 police officers ... some in riot gear. 110 people were arrested for trespassing when they refused to leave. more demonstrations are expected today when mcdonald's annual meeting takes up the issue of executive pay.

a box full of explosives led to a neighborhood's shutdown in the southwest suburbs. the explosives were found in a man's basement, at 98-th and hamlin, in evergreen park. a caretaker reported to police that the homeowner told her to be careful with a box because there were 24 sticks of dynamite inside. the cook county bomb squad evacuated several blocks and locked down two schools. the explosives were more than 60 years old. >> that's not normal at all. this is not normal in our neighborhood nothing really happens here. >> i thought it was kind of cool to watch. >>the dynamite was taken away and destroyed. the homeowner is not being charged with a crime. illinois democratic leaders are trying a new tactic, to pressure their fellow lawmakers to extend governor quinn's income tax hikes. house speaker michael madigan is threatening to propose a budget that slashes state spending on schools and other state services, if the tax hike expires next january. the new tactic comes, after madigan learned that only 34 of illinois' 71 house democrats support an extension of the tax hike... 30 are opposed... so is every *republican in the house. president obama will be in

chicago today to attend two fundraisers for senator durbin and other senate democrats. it was recently revealed that one of the hosts gave money to the republican candidate for governor. mayor emanuel was asked if it makes things awkward. >> to say that it's awkward, i don't know but we are in the presence of the person who is hosting the event obviously welcome to this. >>campaign finance records show michael polsky contributed 5- rauner's campaign last month. polsky and his wife are hosting a reception at their home tonight, before a fundraising dinner at another home. a man from utah is living out the lyrics of a popular 80's hit by *the police. clint buffington of salt lake city says he's found 60 messages in a bottle over the years. he plans his vacations, so he can scour beaches around the world for washed-up notes from the lonely and curious. one bottle had a return address. a guy tossed it off a cruise ship ... wondering if anyone

a terrorist attack on an outdoor market in northwest china has killed 31 people and injured more than 90. china's official news agency says two suv's were driven into a crowd of people and explosives were thrown before one of the vehicles blew up. witnesses reported hearing up to a dozen blasts. it happened in the xinjiang region, which has seen a string of attacks blamed on ethnic tension between muslim natives of the area and millions of immigrants from eastern china. american soldiers are now deployed to help find those kidnapped schoolgirls from nigeria. 80 service members are being sent to nigeria's neighbor, chad, to support intelligence and surveillance operations -- which includes the use of a predator drone. the white house says this deployment is not based on any new leads. boko haram kidnapped over 270- girls from their school 37 days ago. they've not been seen since. u-s officials say they believe the militants moved the girls into smaller groups by now. a house committee will

investigate the terrorist attack in benghazi, libya that killed four americans in 2012, just before the presidential election. now, illinois congresswoman tammy duckworth has been chosen as one of the five *democrats who will join seven republicans on that committee. republicans say the obama administration intentionally lied about the motive for the attack, to protect obama's re- election prospects. democrats say benghazi was a tragedy, but not a conspiracy. president obama is facing new criticism, after he declared a half million acres along america's mexican border a national monument. the president's signature provides wilderness protection for the "organ mountains" in southern new mexico. but local authorities warn that the area is a hotbed of crime, driven by the mexican drug cartels and human smugglers. and they say, president obama's declaration does not allow local law enforcement to patrol the area to catch undocumented immigrants. a woman in texas had to be treated for injuries she sustained when her neighbor's pet got loose. the woman says she was unloading groceries from her car when she felt something pounce ... then crawl up her leg to her back. it was her neighbor's pet

the black. the dow rose 158 points. the nasdaq gained 34. and, the s-and-p added 15. e-bay is telling its customers to change their passwords after a massive security breach. e-bay says hackers stole 145- million user records three months ago, but e-bay didn't know that until recently. the records included e-mail addresses and mailing addresses, but no credit card numbers. e-bay is still advising customers to change their passwords, even though it says they're encrypted and should still be secure. the company says there's no sign that any customers have been affected.

the department of transportation is proposing new rules that would make it easier for people to determine the true cost of an airline ticket. carriers would have to spell out specific charges for checked baggage, carry-on items and other services. it would apply to online search sites like expedia, google and kayak. some airlines argue the proposed rules could raise airline costs, and result in higher airfares or reduced service. a final ruling isn't expected until next year. time for sports. the blackhawks *were undefeated at home this postseason... but coach q says it "turned on a dime" against the kings in game two. still no andrew shaw for the hawks last night. they're up two- nothing in the second with an odd man rush, but jonathan quick makes the great save on brent seabrook... l-a seized the momentum from there. same score a few minutes later... mike richards centers to justin williams who finally pokes it past corey crawford. the kings tied it at two and

as a teen. isidro garcia is accused of abducting the victim while living with her at her mother's home in 2004. police say garcia physically and mentally abused the girl, changed her name and forced her into marriage. the two also had a child together. they moved several times over ten years. the now 25-year-old woman got the courage to call police after contacting her sister on facebook. >> he tells are her mother doesn't care. but she can't go to the police because they will deport her. she's only 15 years old. she doesn't get it. how could anybody? >>garcia has been charged with suspicion of kidnapping for rape, lewd acts with a minor and false imprisonment. he's due in court later today. the design of the boston marathon bombs may show that other people were involved. federal prosecutors say the two bombs were too complicated for anyone to make without training. they say fireworks were used, but no residue was found in the tsaranev's apartments or

vehicles. that could mean someone else made them. the bombs had fuses made from christmas lights and the detonators were made of model car parts. prosecutors say dzhokhar tsaranev's use of the word "we" also suggests they had help. chicago's red light cameras had their day before the illinois supreme court. the justices heard arguments in ottawa yesterday since the courthouse in springfield is being remodeled. attorney patrick keating is fighting the ticket his wife received several years ago. keating says the 2003 chicago ordinance that approved the cameras came three years before the authority of state lawmakers. he says that state law has problems too since it only applies to eight counties. the state constitution says traffic laws must be uniform statewide. >> they are a problem all over. it can't make the law if you don't get that in the state senate. >> it could not be more clear that it did not have the intent to preempt what the city was doing to their program.

>>a ruling from the court could take several months. ticketed drivers may be in line for refunds if the court rules against the city. the illinois house is considering a bill that would allow thousands of people who lost their drivers licenses permanently after *four drunk driving convictions to get back behind the wheel. the so-called *redemption bill is sponsored by state rep elaine nekritz of northbrook. it would grant permits to drive only to and from work. serial d-u-i offenders would have to meet several testing and rehab conditions and buy a breath testing device to be connected to their cars. a prank letter was circulated tuesday at lake zurich high school... and predictably, it drew a mixed response. the letter, with the school's logo, said all female students were required to submit to a "mandatory vagina inspection." school officials were quick to say the letter is a fake. some students say it was tasteless, offensive and disgusting. naturally, it was posted on facebook and twitter, where some readers said they thought the prank was funny. someone recently tried the same stunt at a school in minnesota.

trending online this morning ... five tornadoes touched down near denver. no damage reported. tornadoes swept across the suburb of aurora east of denver in a half hour period. flights were diverted and planes had to be inspected for hail damage. will smith and jada pickett smith are being investigated for this controversial photo of their daughter. it shows 13-year-old willow smith lying in bed with a 20- year-old friend. the photo went viral after it was posted on instagram earlier this month. "radar online" says the department of children and family services in los angeles opened an investigation last week. will and jada are said to be cooperating. investigators plan to interview willow and the actor in the picture. the ceo of levi's says genes are for wearing an not washing. he says putting your genes in the washer is not the buyer mentally responsible. he says he never washes his jeans he just presses them with some vinegar or vodka.
