toxin scare in lake erie. a test of lake michigan's water showed none of the toxins found in toldeo, ohio. over the weekend.. officials found dangerous levels in lake erie. they said even boiling it wouldn't help reduce toxins. it's left nearly 400-thousand people without drinking water. officials will continue to monitor the situation. meantime, governor pat quinn signed three new laws yesterday.. aimed at addressing urban flooding and ensuring cleaner drinking water. one -- allows law enforcement agencies to collect and store pharmaceuticals and controlled substances for safe disposal. the others -- create a working group to address the growing challenge of urban area flooding... along with designating an operator responsible for each community water supply and distribution. a man faces charges in connection with a string of sexual assaults in the southwest suburbs. tonya francisco is *live at park forest police department with the latest. >> a press conference will be held this morning to discuss the details but for now we know that in 37 year-old was ordered

held on a $750,000 bail after being charged with sexually abusing six different women and young girls who were walking alone in park forest and richmond park. the tax begin in march and continued until the end of june eventually prompting the communities to issue alerts warning women the sexual predator was on the loose. their reward was also offered for information leading to arrest. no information was given as to how he was arrested but prosecutors say that all six women have identified him as their attacker. back to you. >> a trial begins today for the first of 4 people accused of murdering two men in joliet last year. bethany mckee is accused of participating in the murders of eric glover and terrance rankins. prosecutors say mckee, adam landerman, joshua miner, and alisa massaro lured the men to a home, where they were robbed

and murdered. police say they continued to use drugs, party and have sex in the home while the bodies were still there. massaro pleaded guilty to lesser charges and will testify against the others. chicago police are looking for a car involved in a drive by shooting that wounded three people on the south east side. this followed mayor emanuel's announcement that he's putting more police officers on the streets to combat violence. three men were hanging out outside a home in the 86- hundred block of south colfax when a blue car pulled up and someone started shooting yesterday afternoon. the men shot range in age from 27 to 33-years-old, and they are all in critical condition. one witness says she was outside when the shots were fired. >> the next thing you know i heard what i thought was fireworks at first. the 15 or 20 shots and they started coming toward us and i ran into the house and hit the ground in the hallway. >>earlier sunday afternoon emanuel says 150 officers will

be moved from behind a desk onto the streets of the city's most violent neighborhoods. no arrests have been made in the shooting. a shooting outside of a nightclub on the near north side left one man dead and wounded another. a lollapalooza after-party was held saturday night at the "bodi" nightclub on orleans. a 32-year-old man was found shot to death in a nearby alley.. and a 21-year-old man is hospitalized in serious condition. police on patrol heard shots fired and saw the gunman running from the scene. the officers shot at the man... but he was not hit, and he got away. three teens are held without bail after they were charged with the murder of a 16-year old boy in the little village neighborhood friday night. prosecutors say 18-year old andrew anania and two fifteen- year-olds were searching for rival gang members at 24th and washtenaw friday night. they shot and killed ramon breceda. anania was shot in the arm in the gunfight, and one of the 15-year old boys was shot in the hip.

a bears fan is charged with felony criminal trespass for running onto soldier field during the bears family fest scrimmage. 22-year-old john annoreno of west chicago was released on his own recognizance after a bail hearing at 26th and california yesterday. before ordering him released, the judge asked annoreno why he had to be so silly. when annoreno... still wearing a jay cutler jersey... did not respond, the judge said he'd figure it out if he had to sit across the street in cook county jail. this year's lollapalooza has come to an end.. bleachers... along with headliners skrillex and kings of leon closed out the final day of the fest. organizers estimate the weekend's attendance was in the 300-thousand range. --that includes first daughter malia obama!

the body of a man suspected of killing his family has been found in a creek in rural northern california. shane miller was the prime suspect in the deaths of his wife and two young daughters. his remains were found not far from where his truck was spotted about 150 miles north of the bay area last year. miller's case was recently featured on c-n-n. he had been on the run since may 20-13. as many as 5-hundred children at a southern california church camp... may be trapped in the town after torrential rain and mudslides. the san bernardino fire department says most of the roads in forest falls are impassable due to mudflows. the local fire station has been evacuated after some roads became filled with six to eight feet of rock. authorities are using bulldozers to try to reach the children at the camp. so far, there are no reports of

injuries or missing residents. the california governor has declared a state of emergency after raging wildfires continue to burn across the state. more than three-thousand residents of a california mountain town are evacuated -- as a wildfire rages out of control. the "elier fire" is burning about 26-thousand acres near burney, about 200 miles north of sacramento. fire crews are digging protective barriers and starting spot-fires to prevent the flames from reaching the community. eight homes have been destroyed so far. an exploding vat of egg nog flavoring... injured two workers at a chemical plant saturday night in new jersey. it happened at pharma-chem laboratories.. which produces ingredients which flavor foods. investigators say workers just started on a new recipe for eggnog when it ignited. authorities say half of the building may have to be torn down. the cause of the explosion is being investigated. a giant tortoise was spotted wondering around california. police say the reptile tried to make a run for it... but to no avail. it took two officers to lift the

the six-point-one magnitude quake hit yunnan province sunday afternoon. the earth's movement shook surveillance cameras. according to china's state-run media, at least 381 people were killed and some 18-hundred others were injured. the earthquake also damaged or destroyed more than 40-thousand homes. this is reportedly the strongest earthquake to hit yunnan in 14 years. an investigation team from the netherlands found more personal belongings from the malaysian airlines flight shot down over the ukraine as artillery rounds landed a couple miles away. a search of two square miles of the crash site during the weekend turned up no more human remains. more than 200 bodies have been recovered and sent to the netherlands for identification. 298 were aboard the flight when it was downed july 17th. the source of the missile that shot it down has not been determined. australia is marking a century since the start of "the great war." prime minister tony abbott laid a wreath at australia's war memorial in the capital city of canberra this morning. he saluted the more than 60-

speaking of the nfl. preseason --night and frame that jersey. you know he wants to come back and play again. speaking at the nfl, preseason action is kicking off this week, and things are getting more high tech on the sidelines. the league has announced a partnership with microsoft to put their *surface tablets into the hands of players and coaches on the sidelines. instead of waiting on photographs to analyze plays, images will be sent to the tablets - which are stored in a temperature controlled cart on the sideline. they'll operate on a secured network to help prevent hacking. and the teams don't have to use them as the what they can still use the old photographs to stay old school. >> as a representative of the
