>> good morning for twain. here's the good news. the storms the whistle yesterday our history. but the damage is done. we saw a few inches of rain yesterday today we have showers tapering off. 67 degrees right now. 65 in waukegan. 63 in the cal. satellite repair composite shows showers across the extreme southern and eastern communities. as the front moves through the rain will taper off quickly. the heaviest of the rain is behind it. 75 degrees by noon today. by 9:00 p.m. we're down to 68. the official high will be 79. tonight we're back down to 62. partly sunny skies wednesday high-temperature 77. 77 thursday with scattered showers and storms. here's a

traffic. >> you will want to listen to me this morning. there's a lot going on. if you use the eisenhower into the city everything is shut down at first avenue. all traffic being diverted off because of that high standing water from overnight. the west bound side was blocked by a few minutes ago there were able to open that again. there is some flooding and high water soon ease the traffic is being diverted from first to harlem. the other big issue is the ct a blue line. no service between forest park and the harlem congress, the fifth to furthest west stations. the have started service again but it is operating on a single track. expect added delays there. we will keep you updated on all the flooding closures through the morning. >>that flooded section of the eisenhower could slow down the commute for quite awhile.

tonya francisco is there live with the latest.. tonya? >> and seeing exactly what sarah was talking about. this is the eastbound side of the eisenhower expressway. i am standing here and as you can see state police and several other agencies are out here trying to clean up the mess that is blocking or causing traffic here. we are noticing the traffic is being diverted of here at des plaines but it is blocked up to harlem. westbound traffic is moving but a few hours ago when this was really a mess both sides of the expressway or shut down. this is video of the eisenhower around 1045. you can see it was in many river. people who were stuck in their cars had to wade through

the water to reach dry land others had to climb on top of the medium and walk it like a tight rope until they got to try land. the driver heading west on 290 spoke with us and said traffic started backing up around harlem. >> to cars underneath water. people were standing out on the median. a few cars return to make it through going the other way it doesn't look like they're going to able to do it much longer. >> a real mess on the expressway. also some flooding issues out on the street. this fellow had to push his car out of the water at 20 fifth avenue and adams. officials are blaming this on to much rain at one time overwhelming the pumping station and there's also the possibility that in in let was clocked causing the flooding but once again to point out here on the eisenhower, this is a live

picture, the eastbound side of the eisenhower is shutdown starting here going past harlem as they try to deal with some serious flooding issues as a we mentioned, the blue line had been stopped because it does run along the middle of the eisenhower expressway but that traffic is moving. and looking at the blue line train looking to leave the station. it does appear the cta is running trains in this area once again. that's the latest from forest park. back to you. >>heavy rain also caused some flooding in the western suburbs. areas like la grange and brookfield got two and a half inches of rain in one hour. the water was just a few inches deep on the roads, but that was deep enough to be a problem. we also saw some high water on the underpasses, and drivers getting stranded. >> it's crazy. i can't believe how flooded the streets got.

just on away from work my car was stuck a few times try to get through my driveway. >> i had to back up and fix it. >> multiple pumps were going but when it pours very heavily in a short period time, that's what we have the big problems. >>that homeowner spent yesterday removing several inches of water from his garage. he says there was just too much rain in a short amount of time. a 6-year-old boy is being treated for serious injuries after being mauled by a dog at a birthday party on the south side. the horrifying event was caught on camera. armani mckinnis was at a friend's party in the 74 hundred block of south champlain when two dogs came running down the street monday night. one of them-- a pitbull -- attacked the boy. kids at the party ran to the bounce house in the backyard for safety as adults tried to free armani from the jaws of the dog. >> the dog came and growled and grabbed the kid and all the guys

were trying to get the job away from the kid. >>both dogs eventually ran off. the boy suffered injuries on his face and leg. israel and hamas are a few hours into another cease fire. israel says it withdrew its ground troops from gaza for a 72-hour humanitarian cease fire. this break from violence went into effect this morning. there have been previous ones, but they would eventually get broken. israel says 20 rockets were fired from gaza minutes before the cease fire began three hours ago. c-n-n reports seeing an israeli airstrike 15 minutes before it began. the second american infected with ebola is expected to arrive in the united states, later today. the plane carrying nancy writebol has left liberia, and is on its way to emory university hospital in georgia. writebol took the same route as her colleague, dr. kent brantly, who arrived there over the weekend. they've been given an experimental serum -- known as z-mapp --which has never before used on humans. within an hour of getting that serum, brantly's condition is said to have improved

dramatically. >> we don't know if they're naturally getting better or if the serum is doing something. before we give the banner of georgia the serum a lot more studies need to be gathered. >>the american missionaries became infected while in liberia treating ebola patients. the disease has killed almost 900 africans-- making it the worst outbreak in history. taking a look at the *other top stories this morning. this man has been charged with aggravated d-u-i and attempted carjacking in connection with a crash on the eisenhower expressway over the weekend. authorities say 25-year-old kenneth spruiell crashed into another car on the outbound side of i-290 near 1st avenue early sunday morning. then he carjacked the other vehicle at gunpoint and left the scene. he's expected to appear in bond court later today. the murder trial resumes today for a woman who faces charges in connection with the gruesome murders of two men in joliet. eric glover and terrance rankins were strangled in january 20-13. two men and two women are

charged. bethany mckee is the first of the suspects to go on trial. prosecutors say mckee was desperate for cash and knew one of the victims carried a lot of it. glover was carrying 120-dollars on the day he was killed. the trial continues today prosecutors dropped 17 felony counts against state representative lashawn ford. ford pleaded guilty to a single misdemeanor tax count instead. the west side democrat made the plea yesterday morning related to a false income tax return for 20-07. prosecutors dropped much more serious charges, including bank fraud. he faces a maximum sentence of a year in prison and a one hundred thousand dollar fine. the brady bill was widely championed here in chicago. annette nance- holt became active in the brady campaign after her son blair was gunned down on a cta bus. she met brady's widow in washington last year. >> very inspired because she's gone through so much with her husband and she still was the strength to fight. my condolences go out to them clear

so grateful to them. >>brady was from centralia illinois, attended the u-of-i, and founded the brady campaign to prevent gun violence. the campaign says the brady-law stopped two-million guns from being bought by criminals. two surfers made a friend off the north-east coast of england. check it out... a young seal joined them, climbed on their boards... and tried to surf with them for about an hour. they caught it on a go-pro camera. one of the surfers called it a "once in a lifetime experience." demetrius is back from vacation. >> i shot the video was on vacation. rate at lake michigan. let's talk about the rain and the assault yesterday. we have almost 4 in. of rain in maywood. elmer's had to and three- quarters. almost two and a half in union. in force park we had about 2 in.. we note the entire

some with disabilities. tutko said her son had severe mental retardation. the boy's father is in the dauphin county prison facing multiple charges, including endangering the welfare of children and concealing the death of a child. the mother has not been charged yet. a federal judge has ruled that *part of an alabama law regulating abortion clinics is unconstitutional. a u-s district judge took issue with the 20-13 law's requirement that abortion clinic doctors must have admitting privileges at local hospitals. he says it puts an undue burden on a woman's right to an abortion. that the law would end up forcing three abortion clinics in alabama to close-- forcing women who want abortions to travel long distances to get them. the state's attorney general says he will appeal the ruling. convicted murderer jodi arias wants to represent herself at her sentencing re-trial. a jury found her guilty of killing her boyfriend, travis alexander, last year. the jury could not agree on

whether she should get the death penalty. so a new jury will be summoned to decide the punishment. yesterday a judge granted arias' motion to act as her own attorney. the sentencing re-trial begins september 8-th. a team near reno, nevada, is working to help a special victim of a wildfire. a man found the bear while sifting through the debris of his destroyed home in washington state.. experts say this black bear may only be a week old. they've named her "cinder." she suffered burns on her muzzle, her stomach, her legs, and her paws. if all goes well, she'll be returned to the pacific northwest and released back into the wild. >> you read that with such compassion. that was nice. here's our current temperatures. the cold front hasn't moved through just yet but the wind will start coming down the north and west. that cooler air will follow. the heaviest of the rain is behind us. with salt only 4 in. of rain we had a flash flood issues. it's all expired but be

the morning. unfortunately for the bears they fall victim to a training camp injury on monday. no. 3 receiver diving for a ball in practice and breaks his collarbone. not the only casualty. briggs is out there but the wilson injury was tough. noncontact he was carried off

hour cease-fire appears to be holding. and, the two americans who contracted ebola in africa received an experimental treatment. we'll have details. good morning, i'm dan ponce. erin joins us at the top of the hour. let's first get right to sarah for a look at traffic. >> if your just waking up with us you'll want to listen with a lot going on because of the overnight flooding. look of the eisenhower, eastbound is shut down between first and harlem because of high standing water. steeply say it's a mixture of water and mud between that stretch. westbound is shut down as well but at the top of the hour they were able to open the west bound to traffic. now it's just eastbound that remains shut down. think about the kennedy or the stevenson. in light volume of traffic that reroute will have the taking roosevelt. heading eastbound you have to exit at first avenue. he can hop

on roosevelt, ticket east and then hopped back on and harlem. for right now, light volume of traffic. as we get further into the morning that's when you could think about the zero alternates. we will keep you posted on all that. those are some big closures to watch out for. looking at the weather. >> here's the good news. the heaviest of the rain is behind us. we are only expecting light showers after that we move towards trying conditions. we are finding 2 in. of rain. oak lawn saw one and a half. we saw a much more rain in other regions. all gone when saul about 1.5. o'hare's all over 2 in.. lumbar had over one and a half inches. generally dry conditions. the front is still up to the north moving through cook county. potential for fog

and showers early that we move towards a mix of sun and clouds. 76 degrees by 5:00 p.m.. 9:00 p.m. we're down to 68. tonight we are back down to 62. 77 wednesday and thursday. >>crews continue to clean up after the flood that closed off part of the eisenhower just a few hours ago. tonya francisco is there with an update.. tonya? >> good morning. i'm standing here over the eisenhower expressway. i will show you what is causing the problem. it's a patch of mud right here underneath the overpass where the blue line goes by. all this water overnight caused mud to end up on the road to creating an issue that has shut down the eastbound side of the eisenhower expressway the forest park fire

department is here to try to figure out how the get watered down to the expressway to clear out that much and so it can open up. the issue that came up last night, look at the video from last night, the water rose so high that many of the cars on the expressway at the time ended up getting stuck in the expressway traffic. many cars had to be abandoned. some people started to weed through the water. others ended up climbing up on the median so they could actually climb to dry land. i had the chance to speak to a driver who was out here when they had shut down the blue line he said the water was so high it was up over the median which is what caused the eastbound and westbound side of the expressway to be close. once again, west bound side is now open. eastbound is still shut down. we can take another angle out here to show you of the actual

the plane has left liberia, and the second american infected with ebola is on her way to a hospital in georgia. andrew spencer reports the *treatment both patients are receiving will hopefully make all the difference. two peace corps volunteers evacuated from africa due to the ebola scare-- arrived today in we don't know if they're naturally getting better or whether the serum is doing something. before we give the banner of a chore to the serum, a lot more studies and more information needs to be gathered. >> the american missionaries began to be infected what treating patients. or 900 have been killed making it the worst in history. >> hugging family at o'hare airport he had been teaching high school can't wait to go

that emanuel's allies formed a new super-pac to bring down the so-called "progressive caucus." that includes fioretti and seven other aldermen. fioretti says the super-pac's goal is to raise money to help get those aldermen voted out of office. he is reportedly considering running against emanuel for mayor. senator mark kirk is pushing a faith based initiative to help children who are crossing the border illegally. kirk says his office is working with religious organizations and community groups to connect with young immigrants who are detained in the area. he says these young people need to be cared for, so they don't fall into a life of crime. >> the have and taking care of these kids we need to administer to them on a volunteer basis to make sure they have greater chances. there's a network behind them and makes them better. >>kirk says this program would also help immigrant children learn english, get mentoring, and faith based counseling. toledo's mayor is not only saying that his city's water is safe to drink.. he's proving it.

mayor michael collins drank some tap water just after he lifted a two-day ban. a half million people had to use bottled water or wait in line to receive some from the national guard. the local water had high levels of a toxin that was created by algae in lake erie. but officials say levels are now low enough to drink the water. popular hookup app tinder is now hooking up rescue dogs with dog lovers. profiles of the pups have generated 2-thousand matches since they popped up on the site thursday. tinder users looking for a short-term doggie romance, can foster a dog for a couple of weeks. if they're looking for a hookup, they can take a dog for a walk. but those looking for a long term commitment, can adopt a pup. >> 10 years ago dogs had to meet back in person. >> when you find a dog on tinder ... i guess you have to know that joke. anybody under 17 you get it but anybody else to erupt

both fighters will see each horace other again september 27- th, but that will be in a ring. actress keke palmer is making history as she takes over the lead role in the stage musical "cinderella" next month. the 20-year old is the first african-american to play the role on broadway. palmer co-starred in the emmy- nominated lifetime move... "the trip to bountiful"... and also has her own talk show on "the b-e-t network." dwayne wade had the camera rolling when he popped the question to gabrielle union, and put together a "save the date" video for their wedding guests. the mini-movie shows wade down on one knee. the two will tie the knot in miami on august 30-th... the couple is banning their guests from using social media during the reception. a fisherman from san antonio caught a massive fish off the texas gulf coast. ryan spring reeled in an 809- pound tiger shark. he says he fought the the beast for more than eight hours. the shark was 12-feet, 7-inches long. this isn't even the biggest shark ever caught in port aransas. the biggest was 13-and-a-half feet long and weighed more than 11-hundred pounds -- reeled in back in 19-92.

this morning heading eastbound. all traffic been diverted off the expressway this is all because of flooding. not only do we have flooding, but a muddy mess as well. lots of cleanup on the eisenhower so as to heading eastbound we have some heavy delays because all traffic is being diverted off the expressway's. you'll have to get off, head east and then hopped back on at harlem. we estimate a 44 minute ride from that detour to get you into 53. you can avoid all that by taking the stevenson or the kennedy. there's light volume but it's not too bad on the eisenhower, as the closure continues things will get worse. also in maywood, first avenue we of high standing water between sir mac and roosevelt causing people to get stood up there. >> good morning. last week we

this one here is only for the i phone. similar to a steady camera. it has the counterweight at the bottom. it's probably later than this one. just a bit. but the same principle with a camera just floats in the air and it gives you a steadier image. i ran down a hallway holding my phone getting video and as you can see that video is complete not usable. i did the same thing with the app and if you do it just right there really has a much smoother look. you have to be able to get it this way you can just take it out of the box and use it. you have to use the counterbalance. and then you use your from on the back when you turn to make sure the phone turns with you. it takes a while but if you are serious about your video with your smart phone it may be something for you. it sells for about $140. there's a place
