the school traffic. >> so far light on the roads. it's a bit of overnight roadwork to watch out for. on the kennedy in bound and a bound around chicago avenue there some roadwork blocking the left lane all scheduled to be picked up at 5:00. otherwise the roads are looking good. >> a fourth woman is a victim of a string of attacks and robberies in the south suburbs. judy wang is live in midlothian with the latest. >> plenty of people in the neighborhood wouldn't they are on edge. the woman the attack had just gotten off a train and was headed home. she was almost there with a man approached her from behind and knocked her down. latest incident happened at 12:30 pm near the 145 and travel avenue in the south suburbs. the woman had called a cab even though she lived only five of its away from the train

station. when the cap did not show what she started to walk home. the man wearing a hooded sweatshirt nocturn and punched her in the face and ran off with her purse. the fourth victim in four weeks. all attacked near the train station. in the first attack july 19th the victim was a mother walking home with her baby. the next was a college student and last monday a 17 year-old girl was attacked. the daughter of the woman attacked sunday says her mom did not get a good look at the offender. >> she's pretty shaken up she doesn't want to talk to anybody about it. her face and she and six great honor face a one and knocked her down, her telephone was hurting. >> people lived there by state police canvassed the neighborhood yesterday afternoon questioning people.

also seeking surveillance video. >> two days after a girl was raped in the park a man goes to court. he's in this video he grabbed the girl early saturday morning there california and division pulled her into a secluded area and insulted her. charged with criminal sexual assault. >>the u-s coast guard has suspended the search for a missing man who fell into lake michigan saturday night. from a sailboat into the lake, about two miles from the shore. the coast guard conducted more than 20 searches over 98 square miles. police will now take over.. to perform a recovery operation using sonar technology. a missing persons alert has been issued.. noting brown is a "strong swimmer" and a triathlete, and it's possible he could have swam to shore. a protest over a deadly police shooting of an un-armed teenager turns violent. some businesses were looted. emma lacey bordeaux has the latest.

>> tensions sky-high on the streets of the st. louis suburb sunday night. violent protests erupted in one day after an unarmed teenager a shot and killed by a police officer. caught on camera, people rushing to help with items from a car store. also breaking glass and ripping apart the aisles of the gas station store. others grabbing what the king kerry and running off. officials say least 20 police cruisers were also damaged. >> we are seeing lots of weather vanes smash, people running up with clothing. >> dozens of officers in riot gear with keen and are trying to disperse the crowd. several gunshots are hurt though no one was reported injured. the chief of police is calling in the

state highway patrol. the violence comes one day after police shot and killed and eaten year-old. a 40 say brown assaulting a police officer before being shot and killed outside an apartment complex. witnesses say the team. to be surrendering and the officer shot him multiple times. >> we are going to look at this. >> st. louis police now handling the investigation. >>police are searching for the driver of a blue chevy s-u-v who caused a car chase in south suburban dolton. it happened saturday night just before 8 o'clock. officers responded to calls of gunshots in the 200 block of east 143rd street. that's when the blue chevy drove toward the police at high speed, causing the chase. at one point, a passenger in the s-u-v jumped out and tried to escape on foot, while a dolton officer got out of his car to follow. investigators say the man fleeing then pointed a weapon at the officer, who shot and killed the man. he's been identified as 22-year old malcolm franklin.

organizers of this year's bud billiken parade say all of their hard work is being overshadowed by the shootings of two teenagers, not far from the parade route. the shootings -- the first in the parade's history -- erupted after a scuffle among rival groups of teenagers at 42-nd and king. the parade attracted as many as a million spectators... and 60 thousand people marched. organizers and supporters alike say, *that's* what people should remember... not an unrelated shooting. >> the shooting was one-tenth of 1 percent of what occurred. 99 and nine tents of the separate was the most awesome spectacle. >>for the most part, people said the parade was a successful kick-off to the new school year. american military officials are reporting successful air strikes against the islamist militants who have taken over much of iraq. central command says targeted airstrikes against "i-sis" destroyed three vehicles and

damaged two others outside of the key city of irbil... and iraqi authorities say american airpower helped rescue thousands of iraqis who had been trapped on a mountain. thousands more remain trapped... but food and water are being airlifted to them until they, too, can be rescued. president obama says the airstrikes against "i-sis" could last for months... but he says the ultimate solution will have to come from iraqi leaders. israel and hamas have agreed to another three-day cease fire. this one is expected to allow another attempt at indirect negotiations between israeli and palestinian officials. the last cease fire ended last friday, with rockets being fired from both sides. so far no rockets have been fired during this truce, but one came close to a c-n-n crew in gaza city. an air strike sent correspondent martin savidge diving to the floor. you can see a building was hit right behind him. that same target was hit again minutes later.

race car driver tony stewart skipped sunday's nascar race after he hit and killed a driver at another event. 20 year old kevin ward junior died after he was hit by stewart's car, at a dirt track race, saturday night. ward's and stewart's cars were close together just before ward hit the wall. ward then got out of his car and walked onto the track pointing a finger. stewart's car was passing him, when his rear tire struck ward and threw him several feet. investigators say stewart is cooperating, but no charges have been filed. stewart released a statement saying no words could describe the sadness he felt about the accident. anyone who missed the supermoon last month got another chance this weekend. this supermoon is one of the largest and brightest full moons of the year. that's because this is the point in the moon's orbit when it is closest to earth. that makes the moon appear to be bigger and brighter than usual. if you missed the august supermoon, you'll get another chance at one next month. nasa says that one is coming

4:14 a.m.? lightning is being blamed for starting new wildfires in northeastern california. nine wildfires formed yesterday, but no structures are being threatened. firefighters are still dealing with the fire that was caused by lightning on july 30-th. that one is 35-percent contained after it burned over 13-square miles. an evacuation order remains in effect as the fire threatens 60-buildings north of san francisco. two dozen people were rescued yesterday.. after being trapped on a ride at a washington d-c amusement park. the "joker's jinx" roller coaster at "six flags in prince george's county" stopped, leaving passengers stranded 45 feet in the air. crews spent hours getting passengers to safety. officials say the ride has a

computerized safety system which can cause the stoppages. they're investigating what caused the ride to stop, but say it performed the way it's designed to. no injuries were reported. a mother in portland, says doctors told her she can't breastfeed her new baby because she uses medical marijuana. crystal cain is a medical marijuana card holder.. who's been smoking during her pregnancy on midwife's advice for anxiety and nausea. but on wednesday, she delivered her baby eight weeks premature.. and doctors won't let her breast feed. the hospital can't keep her from smoking in the future, but is advising her not to breast feed due to possible risks. cain has acknowledged the risks... and *isn't* worried about t-h-c getting to the baby. >> we had the mother signed a waiver acknowledging the use of marijuana and the potential risks. >> several studies indicate it

arrived at the station even though she lives five minutes away. she waited and then walked home after the cap did not show. a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt with his face covered approached her from behind, knocked her down and punched her in the face before taking off with her purse. all four attacks happened near the train station the first victim attacked was a mother walking home from a carnival. the second victim was a college student and the third attack monday was a 17 year-old. all victims told police the man or all black and a mask. the daughter of sunday's victim said imam attempted to take extra steps by calling a cab and she thought she had done everything right. >> she's really shook up. doesn't want the attention. she has a big scrape on her face and then with and knocked her down he pushed her down on her tailbone and that hurts.

israeli and palestinian negotiators time to work out a peace deal. rocket attacks resumed last friday, when the last cease fire ended. ebola infections continue to spread, but one official says there are ways to slow it down. the world health organization says there are over 18-hundred cases of ebola in africa. more than half of those people have died. a top w-h-o official is blaming the spread on weak health facilities in underdeveloped nations. he says the disease can be contained if authorities raise their response. guinea has now closed its border with sierra leone.. and the zambian government is banning arrivals of people from countries with ebola cases. a proposed charter school in chicago may cause a conflict of interest for school board president david vitale. "concept schools" wants to take over a building in the chatham neighborhood, and open the "horizon science academy-clay evans" this fall. but first, a bank -- vitale's "urban partnership bank" -- must *foreclose on the property. and that means, the bank, and vitale, could benefit directly

from the new charter school plan. vitale says he plans to recuse himself from any votes on the project. democratic candidate for lieutenant governor , paul vallas, held a news conference today outside the corporate headquarters of republican gubernatorial candidate bruce rauner. rauner is trying to minimize the political fallout after the federal indictment of two former executives who worked for a subsidiary brokerage firm created by a company rauner chaired. rauner said it happened so far down the corporate ladder of private equity giant g-t-c-r, he couldn't have been aware of the wrongdoing. vallas disagreed. >> the investigation began when he was the chairman as a hands- on executive. >> he knows they didn't hire those individuals and he says this is coming from a governor who is under federal criminal investigation. >>meanwhile, the rauner camp is firing back at governor quinn over political hiring issues at the illinois dpeartment of transportation. the better government association found quinn, and imprisoned ex-governor rod blagojevich, ignored anti-

patronage rules and hired as many as 200 staff assistants at i-dot. the ongoing renovation of much of the c-t-a's blue line, will mean a big headache for some west side commuters. the california station will close for six weeks, starting september 4-th, to accommodate a major upgrade. it'll get a better platform, better lighting, new signs, new bicycle racks, and more turnstiles. it's expected to reopen on october 16-th, if all goes according to schedule. then the *damen avenue station will be closed, starting october 20-th. similar improvements are planned there, along with structural fixes. the damen station should be finished in time for christmas. drivers pulled over for traffic violations will get to keep their licenses. a new law allows motorists to sign a citation as a guarantee the driver will either appear in court or pay the required fines. under the old law, the secretary of state could have suspended driving privileges of motorists who failed to comply with the citation. the new law was signed yesterday and takes effect right away.

a bear walking like a human around new jersey... has become an internet sensation. but, people are wondering if its for real, or just an internet hoax. the bear was spotted monday in jefferson township, and quickly spread across the internet. according to wildlife officials, the bear is real and injured. the black bear has an injury to both front legs, including its paws and possibly an elbow. officials don't know exactly how the bear got hurt... but say its better to just let him heal and not get in his way. >> we thought it was fake. it is from new jersey. but that's a real bear ... the poor guy i hope he's ok. >> that is the most loved bear in america. they need to help the guy. but get him out of jersey first. good morning to

another race. stewart collided with kevin ward junior's car, which sent him into the wall. ward walked onto the track, and pointed his finger, as cars went by. that's when stewart's rear tire hit ward and threw him several feet. ward died at the scene. there are no criminal charges, and investigators say stewart is cooperating. rory mc-elroy is your p-g-a champion. he has now won the last two major tournaments. mc-elroy had to come from behind in the final round after a rain delay held things up for nearly two hours. he then beat phil mickelson by one stroke. mc-elroy showed off some quick hands while receiving his trophy. the top of the cup slid off, but mc-elroy caught it before it hit the ground. >> he's 25 years old. >> he's on top of the world. >> he's doing all right. >> i don't know if you guys are golfers ... maybe you could work on your swing this week. but
