dolton. it broke out just after midnight in the basement of the home. everyone inside made it out safely, including several kids. two dogs and two cats also got out. one of the cats was struggling until paramedics gave it oxygen. >> the firefighters came out with the caps that he had found in the basement. he gave it to the kid i don't know if it came out with the kit but it was the kid kept. it was a breathing period would put the cat on oxygen. it came back. >>four cats died in the fire. the cause is under investigation, but officials suspect the dryer caught on fire. extra police patrols will be visible this morning at stevenson high school in lincolnshire, after someone posted a questionable message on facebook. in a rambling rant, the author complained that stevenson students are selfish... they don't care about one another... and they don't make an effort to make fellow students feel special. lincolnshire police don't consider the post a direct

threat against the school. but several parents have said they plan to keep their students out of class today. international diplomats are gathered in paris, to decide what to do, to stop the advance of "isis" terrorists. britain is already committed to help... and france will conduct reconnaissance flights over iraq. getting *arab nations to join the coalition will require more *delicate negotiations. >> not clear that the iraqi sunnis are more concerned about ice is the baghdad. not clear if the saudis are more concerned about ices the now are about iran. this is currently an interesting coalition if it can hold together. >>enlisting saudi arabia and egypt is considered vital to the success of the coalition. "isis" is expected to recruit new members by spinning the american-led alliance as a war against muslims. a pedestrian was killed by a police car in wheeling. fredi morales was leaving a friend's house early yesterday morning when he was hit on mchenry road, west of cedar run drive. the wheeling police department issued a statement acknowledging that an on-duty officer was involved in the crash, but did not give any other details. a woman who lives near the

scene said she saw the car speeding. >> why is looking at the road, i heard something and sure enough, it was a vehicle and it was a police officer. the officer was really driving fast. very very fast. i didn't see any lights or sirens or anything. and as he passed by, i heard something and then i heard a thump. >>morales was pronounced dead at the scene. no bond for a chicago teenager accused of sexually assaulting a pregnant woman and then locking her in the trunk of her car. 17-year-old aaron parks was charged as an adult in the sexual assault last wednesday afternoon. he's accused of holding the woman at knifepoint and forcing her to drive to an alley.. where he allegedly attacked her. last july, parks was charged with aggravated kidnapping. he has since been on home monitoring and was not supposed to be outside at the time of this assault. >> good knees to be an update in the juvenile system. when you

commit a crime like that july he should never have been on the streets to commit this. the judge is very upset about that. i could tell from her reaction. >>parks will make another court appearance this morning. a funeral is being held today for a northwest indiana police officer who was killed in the line of duty. family and friends gathered for a visitation for merrillville police officer nick schultz. he was shot and killed on september 5-th. schultz and three other officers were trying to evict michael hrnciar from a condo building, when they were ambushed. hrnciar then shot and killed himself. school custodians could lose their job at the end of this month. the janitorial services firm was fired. since then the activist group has been completed but the cleanliness. workers will be notified by september 30th.

a gunman ambushed two pennsylvania state troopers. one officer was killed in the weekend attack... the other was critically injured. the gunman emerged from the woods across from the police station, and opened fire as the officers were changing shifts. a person of interest was questioned... but no charges were filed. a 50-thousand dollar reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest in the case. a navy pilot who went missing after two fighter jets crashed in the western pacific ocean, is presumed dead. he's been identified as 26- year-old lieutenant nathan poloski from california. poloski was flying an "f-a 18" hornet, when it collided with another hornet aircraft during routine flight operations on friday. the navy searched more than 3- thousand square miles looking for poloski. the pilot of the second plane was rescued. the cause of the crash is under investigation. hundreds evacuated their homes after two california wildfires

raged out-of-control yesterday. residents of about 200 homes in orange county's silverado canyon left their homes after the fire broke out friday. six firefighters suffered minor injuries. residents were able to return home late sunday when the fire was 50 percent contained. a fire was sparked in oakhurst yesterday south of yosemite national park. about 1-thousand residents evacuated. several structures were destroyed. a new reality show could be based on legal marijuana. pot entrepreneurs in colorado auditioned for a web-based reality show that puts them in front of potential investors. the show's director says her platform is a mix of "shark tank" and "the apprentice". among the pitches for the show from its early about entrepreneurs coming together to pitch in front of investors who are ready to invest 25,000-$1 million. >> among the pitches for the show were a movie and a flower shop that uses cannabis as the base for floral designs. "the marijuana show" is expected to shoot next month and premieres online in november.

side. back to you. >>it looks like ray rice will try to save his football career, by appealing his suspension. the n-f-l suspended rice indefinitely last week after video leaked of him punching his wife in an elevator. the league initially suspended him for two games. rice is reportedly filing an appeal on the basis that he's being punished twice for the same infraction. but the league says rice's version of what happened did not match what they saw in the video. the players union has until late tomorrow to file an appeal. the carolina panthers benched one of their players because of his domestic violence case. in july, greg hardy was convicted of assaulting and threatening his then ex- girlfriend. hardy is appealing that ruling. panthers head coach, and former bear, ron rivera said it was his decision to make hardy inactive for yesterday's game. this comes after hardy was allowed to play last week. interests of the team. minnesota vikings star running back adrian peterson is the latest n-f-l player facing charges. peterson is out on bail after a grand jury in texas indicted him

yesterday for a visitation. police say schultz was shot while trying to evict michael hrnciar from a condo building. hrnciar then shot and killed himself. hillary clinton reignited speculation about her political aspirations, after she attended a fundraiser with a long history of launching presidential campaigns. it is true, i am thinking about it. but, for today, that is not why i am here. i am here for the stake. >>clinton attended an annual steak fry in iowa yesterday, hosted by retiring senator tom harkin. this was the 37th and final steak fry, which has been a popular event for democrats because of iowa's role as the lead-off caucus state. it was clinton's first trip back to iowa since she ran for president in 2008. the 45-th annual mexican independence day parade was held in the little village neighborhood.
