injured near the dan ryan expressway. judy wang is live at stroger hospital with more on what happened. >> good morning. the 16 year- old, the nephew of the community activist underwent surgery overnight at the hospital. the family had just received an update from doctors about the condition. doctors say the next 48 hours will be critical. the 15 year-old girl, her condition has been stabilized. just celebrating his 16th birthday, attending the dunbar career academy, the crew also a dunbar student. the two were near marquette and the dan ryan around 4:40 a.m.. there were headed to a mcdonald's when emailed approached, started shooting and went away. he was hit in the chest and back. the girl was shot in her arm and shoulder. homes went to the shooting scene to look for tips

at the incident he did not know what the victims was his own nephew. police tried to determine whether the teens were targeted. perhaps they were near their in the wrong place at the wrong time. or it could have been from an earlier incident. the same day police arrested three girls at the school. another fight with someone activated the fire alarm. investigators are looking at surveillance video to see if there are images of the shooter. >> i won't stop. if it hurts, yes, am i upset? i am upset. but i don't get more upset than if it wasn't that. i keep doing what undoing have got to find the perpetrator. >> a police source says he is a documented it gang member, the suspect. if they say if that was the case he is not aware. he says his nephew in the past has

helped him pass out fliers about crime cases. >>a man tried to lure three girls into his s-u-v while they were on a playground during recess on the southwest side. police say the man pulled into an alley behind grimes elementary school in the 49- hundred block of west 64th street, just after noon yesterday. he called the girls over. they didn't fall for it though. then, they went and told a school employee what happened. police say the man was driving a black, newer-model honda c-r-v with two new york yankees stickers on the rear window. britain is poised to join the military airstrikes against "isis." the british parliament is expected to approve the deployment in a few hours. the pentagon is saying, the campaign against "isis" will take years. the u.s. military and its allies are following a familiar pattern... first knocking out the enemy's command and control centers... then striking at its sources of funding. already, allied bombs and

ferguson, missouri, after the police chief tried to talk to a crowd of protesters. chief thomas jackson came out to talk to a crowd of protesters last night. a fight of some kind broke out behind him, after the chief agreed to walk with the demonstrators. several people were arrested, and chief jackson went back inside. all this came hours after he apologized for his department's actions after the fatal shooting of michael brown. >> to the brown family, no one who has not experienced the loss of a child can understand what you are feeling. i am truly

wednesday, she climbed out a second-story window and onto her roof. the intruder followed her up, but rivera called 9-1-1 while she hid beneath an overhang. police arrived and helped her down from the roof, then led the intruder down as well. he was a homeless man. neighbors had been complaining about him earlier that morning. two women on a vacation to kennebunk, maine were met with an unwelcome surprise when they arrived at their hotel. they found a python in the trunk of their rental car. not surprisingly, they screamed and called police. the ball python wasn't venomous... but police were reluctant to grab it... and used a hotel pillowcase to lure him in. wildlife experts say the python wouldn't have hurt them.... unless of course he was really hungry. then he might have struck them at the sight of some movement. >> this is the second week they've found one in a car. >> at least it wasn't on the plane. >> that's a small one. >> you are ok with that?

prosecutors in joliet played a videotaped police interview with joshua miner, the man who is on trial for strangling two men in a robbery plot. terrance rankins and eric glover were killed last year, after they were lured to an apartment on hickory street. miner told his interrogators, killing the men wasn't part of his original plan. miner could get life in prison if he's convicted of the murders. the person who says he sent the ray rice elevator video to the n-f-l months ago.. is now revealing who he sent it to. the n-f-l suspended rice indefinitely, earlier this month, after a video showed him punching his fiance in an elevator. league officials say they did not see the video before that. but an atlantic city law enforcement official says he sent that video to n-f-l security chief, jeffrey miller, *in april. the official, who remains anonymous, says he doesn't know if miller received it. he says he did receive a voicemail from a woman who confirmed the package. the n-f-l security chief says he never saw it. nba player jeff taylor arrested for domestic assault east lansing police department says charlotte hornets forward 25-year old jeff taylor was arrested early thursday morning.
