new developments today in the deadly shooting rampage in ottawa. the suspect had "connections" to jihadists in canada and u-s officials are now searching for any links to american-based terror groups. good afternoon. i'm julie unruh. and i'm dina bair. we welcome our viewers who are watching us around the country on wgn america and on the web. our top story investigators say a 32 year-old was a muslim converts. had a troubled past and was planning to fight overseas. cnn is reporting that he is associated with a group known for her radical islamist ideology. including at least one person who went overseas to fight and syria. he

is accused of killing a corporal yesterday as he stood guard at the canadian national memorial. after that attack he ran into the nearby parliament building for he was killed by the sergeant at arms. parliament reconvened the mid tight security. steven harper is promising justice after what he calls a terrorist act. >> we will be vigilant but we will not run scared. we will not panic. as for the business of government. here we are in our seats in our chamber in the very heart of our democracy. security >> has been increased at the canadian consulate in chicago. more on that part of our story. chicago >> police are keeping a closer eye on the canadian consulate here inside prudential plaza. this morning workers did not want to comment on the terrorist attacks this week back home. obviously there are some heavy hearts.
