41 year-old off-duty officer got into his car around 1:00 this morning after leaving a bar. earlier this morning the first deputy superintendent explained three male suspects approached the officer likely trying to rob him. >> tried to drive away from the location. as he attempted to drive away one of the suspects fired shots into the officer's vehicle. striking him in the trust. chest. >> basically saying it was not his time mia. >> the officer that were shot in the chest is alert talking and in stable condition. we're also told that he is a father. and aides to be married.

in cage to be marriedand in cage to be married the obama administration has announced it's considering a mandatory quarantine for all returning health care workers from west africa. this comes as we learn more about a doctor who treated ebola patients in africa, and is now an ebola patient in new york. days after doctor craig spencer returned from guinea, he came down with symptoms. but first, he rode the subway, and even went bowling. he is in isolation at new york's bellevue hospital. >> he has information about the disease. when he saw that he had a fever and believe you symptomatic he presented himself to the hospital. public officials are reassuring people that ebola isn't spread by casual contact. we're also learning because of the ebola threat starting today. north korea isn't allowing any international

emory university hospital. officials say she is steadily regaining her strength. illinois health officials confirm, a girl who was monitored for ebola at the university of chicago medical center, tested negative. she was flying from liberia to america earlier this week, when she got sick on a connecting flight to chicago. an adult passenger who also got sick, was treated and sent home, with no signs of ebola. congress is holding a hearing on the ebola crisis. the house oversight and government reform committee is looking at the federal government's response to the virus scare in the u-s and how well various agencies have worked together to contain the disease. the committee will also examine whether the federal government is adequately training and equipping front- line health care workers and military personnel who may come into contact with ebola patients in the u-s and west africa. c-n-n is reporting the new ebola czar "declined" to attend the hearing. in west africa, where the outbreak started world health officials say there are now 9,911 confirmed or probable cases. there have been more

than 4-thousand deaths in guinea, sierra leone and liberia. mali is reporting it's first confirmed case in a 2-year-old girl. the canadian man who shot and killed a soldier, and shot up the country's parliament building, had terrorist connections. investigators now say, emails from michael zehaf- bibeau were found on the computer of a known islamist terror suspect. and he had communicated online with other islamist extremists. still, the muslim convert was never flagged as a potential threat. canadian authorities didn't learn of his plans to travel to syria, until after he was killed on parliament hill. cargo police could be screening your bags the next time you ride a cta train. >> this is an anti- terrorism effort that is focused on cta trains and chicago police say it is entirely a voluntary decision on the part of the passenger on whether or not to submit to

coroner is still working to identify the bodies of three women linked to a suspected serial killer in northwest indiana. darren vann is suspected of killing seven women. one of them was found at a motel in hammond, the other six were at abandoned homes in gary. vann has only been charged in two of the murders, so far. but, he reportedly confessed to police that he killed all of them including ms-year-old kristine hely they knew she a ins and ti, but she dit deserve to die ty. >> to hope she did not suffer. williams says he learned of his daughter's death over the phone. he says the coroner

this was supposed to be the week more than 200 kidnapped nigerian school girls were released from their captors. instead, more girls were allegedly taken by "boko haram". nigeria's goverment claimed it had worked out a deal with the terror group to release 219 young women, abducted in april. now we're learning "boko haram" staged another series of kidnappings over the weekend. at least 60 girls and young women were seized saturday. the kidnappers left 9 dollars for each girl they took. that suggests, the girls will be sold as child bride or sl hazing allegations have brought the football season to an early end at a high school in suburban philadelphia. the football field will remain empty at central bucks west high in doylestown, pennsylvania. the school district ordered the last two games. including homecoming tonight
