the 83-hundred block of south kingston avenue. twelve others shot in gunfire around the city are recovering at area hospitals. people in the bronzeville community are on alert -- after a masked man forced a woman into her home and sexually assaulted her. it happened just before six last night, in the one hundred block of east 44th street. the masked attacker grabbed the woman from behind and dragged her into the apartment. police say the suspect is black, about six feet tall, with a tattoo of a star on the right side of his neck. the letter "s" could be within the star. a south side family lucky to make it. their porch roof collapsed, and trapped a 4-year- old girl. this is how it ended up looking, that porch peeled right off. it happened last night near 74- th and stony island. neighbors stepped in. they heard the roof cave in and rushed in to help mom to dig through debris and find her daughter. fortunately, the girl survived. she's being treated at comer children's hospital and is expected to recover. >> the mom was crying and iran over trying to help her get the brakes off the baby. >> we thought she was dead because she had been under their

admittance panic even more to get her out of there. >> the girl did survive she's been treated at the hospital. she is expected to recover. a hayride accident injured three people at bengtson's pumpkin- farm in homer glen. part of a trailer broke loose on a hill and tipped far enough to cause a dozen people to fall off. a 3-year-old girl was among yesterday's victims. no one was seriously hurt. in an effort to avoid the ebola virus, australia is freezing visas from travelers from west africa. those who have permanent visas would be subject to a three week quarantine before they arrive. further screenings and check-ups would follow. the nurse who was quarantined in new jersey is being allowed back home in maine. kaci hickox had been staying in a tent after she returned from west africa on friday. she was being held under a new mandatory quarantine that the state put on medical workers dealing with ebola. but now she's being allowed to finish that quarantine at home in maine after she tested negative.

new jersey's governor is not backing down from his policy. >> if you're there treating people and you come into contact with the virus you need to court to yourself. it's what's happening. it's safe and that's what people are born to be doing if they're coming into newark airport. illinois updated its guidelines for what it calls high risk and low risk cases. anyone with direct contact with the virus is subject to the 21- day mandatory quarantine at *home. there's a new face in the race for mayor of chicago. cook county commissioner jesus garcia is a former state senator and southwest side alderman. he says he'll challenge mayor emanuel in february. in fact, he's circulating nominating petitions. garcia says emanuel has let the people of chicago down... especially on issues like education and public safety. it's gonna be tough...emanuel already has more than 8 and a half million dollars in his campaign warchest. garcia has 15 thousand dollars. a new poll puts governor quinn ahead of bruce rauner, with just a week to go until the election.

trampoline, and through a window. that's what happened to ten year old kya, at a gymnastics academy in california saturday. she says she was just jumping on a trampoline, when she crashed landed on the sidewalk. >> and put my hands over my face to protect my face and i flew out the window and landed on the ground. and it was really hurting all lot. like some of my skin was off. >> multiple cuts with all the class that could not be removed. they were still in the wound. >>kyla is now recovering at home, with deep gashes in her arms and legs. a local report says three large trampolines could be seen near windows at the facility. they are now closed off. killer suspect in pennsylvania is now getting an *aerial assist. it's been six weeks since police say eric frein shot and killed two state troopers. now, the ohio transportation

department is lending this balloon, nicknamed "blimp in a box," for the search. an aerial camera will allow searchers to scour the landscape for signs of frein. he's believed to be hiding out in the pocono mountains. lava is now 70 yards away from hitting the closest home on the big island of hawaii. lava flow from mount kileaua is moving about 5 yards per hour. it slowed down...yesterday it was about 10 yards per hour. as locals are forced out of their homes, thieves have made their way in... looting abandoned houses. it could be a few hours before lava begins to tackle the nearby homes. nasa will try and launch a rocket into space again today, after its initial attempt was suddenly scrapped for a rare reason. the u.s. and its launch has been scrubbed because of a boat. >>nasa aborted the mission yesterday, because a boat was too close to the launch pad. the rocket is loaded with a spacecraft and 5-thousand pounds of supplies for the international space station. >> i guess you have to watch out for those boats.

they are hoping a $5,000 reward will help to solve it. the latest case has a delivery man hospitalized with multiple gunshot wounds. the dow moves supervisor who was making a delivery year 141 and indiana saturday night when he was ambushed by three gunmen as he is getting out of his vehicle with the pizza. the men announced a robbery and when the delivery man showed some resistance, he was shot three times in the wrist and elbow and then in the back as he turned to leave. in announcing the reward, the franchise owner stressed there is usually little to gain from targeting delivery men. two others were robbed recently but they were not hurt. >> our drivers only have about $20 on their delivery. we fight it senseless that these happen. we have pizza and $20 on us. for

she can now spend the rest of her quarantine at home, in maine, after testing negative for the virus. medical professionals are trying to find a reasonable response to ebola at a conference at mc-cormick place. one doctor says mandatory quarantines are not necessary. he also says they need to educate, not spread fear. >> a teacher in the state of maine not allowed in her school because she had been to the city of dallas. we had a patient show up in the emergency department who were sent from an urgent care of setting because they had been through atlanta's international airport. >>illinois is no longer putting health care workers, returning from west africa, under mandatory quarantine. if they wore the right protection, they only have to check in about possible symptoms. but anyone in direct contact with infected bodily fluids will be quarantined at home. new information is coming out about the gunman who shot five students at a high school in washington state, before killing himself. police say jaylen fryberg sent a picture of himself holding a

gun to his ex-girlfriend, just before the shooting. he also text the five victims, arranging to meet them for lunch in the cafeteria at marysville- pilchuck high school on friday. police say they were all sitting at the same table, when fryberg walked in and opened fire. two of the victims were his cousins, the others were close friends. classmates say it stemmed from a family fight. >> he and one of his cousins got into a fight a few weeks ago about his ex-girlfriend. two of the victims died. three others are still in the hospital. police say fryberg used a gun that belonged to a family member, but they don't know how he got it. they are also looking into cryptic tweets he posted before the shooting. the investigation is expected to take several months. a new video from "isis" claims, the terrorist group now controls the syrian city of kobani. "isis" used its british hostage john cantlie in a presentation that was produced to appear like a news report. it was shot about a week ago, on syria's border with turkey. the video also shows what it says is aerial footage of damage from the "isis" assault.

western reports say syrian kurdish fighters are making some *gains in their effort to maintain control of kobani... and the fight is far from over. taking a look at the *other top stories this morning. this man -- khanji fairley.. has been charged with murder in the shooing of 13-year old kobe jones. police say fairley shot jones several times... after the boy laughed about failey's home being burglarized. fairley was taken into custody shortly after, but prosecutors waited to charge him until witnesses came forward. 2 people are dead and at least 12 are injured in shootings across chicago since yesterday morning. a 22-year old man was killed in west garfield park last evening, after being shot multiple times in the abdomen. a few hours later, in the south chicago neighborhood, a 25-year old man was shot and killed in the south chicago neighborhood. a home's porch roof collapsed at 74-th and stony island last night, trapping a 4-year-old girl in the debris. neighbors rushed to the home and helped the girl's mother dig through the bricks, metal and wood. the child was unconscious at first, but she revived once she was freed. she's expected to recover.

garcia is running for mayor of chicago. the former state senator and southwest side alderman says, mayor emanuel has let the people of chicago down... especially on issues like education and public safety. emanuel says he welcomes all challengers. mayor emanuel says a federal grant will help pay for the new c-t-a bag screening program. >> the world is different. we need to constantly update our safety and security. searches that with the abundance of caution and done appropriately are the right thing to do to provide people the assurance of security as well as doing it with a sensitivity to their own privacy. >> officials say most mobile screening checkpoints will be set up at "l" stations downtown. authorities say the bag checks will only take about a minute. passengers who decline to participate, will be denied entry and could be arrested. mayor emanuel wants the city of chicago to set aside 35 million dollars to tear down hundreds of vacant buildings.

there's still a backlog of more than 14 hundred demolitions. the abandoned properties attract squatters, drug dealers, gangs and crime. the city gets about a hundred *new demolition requests every month. another priority for the city is convincing the owners of high-rise buildings to bring their buildings up to new city fire codes by the december 31- st deadline. non-compliance could cost a landlord 25 hundred dollars a day. toronto is getting a new mayor, but that doesn't mean we've seen the last of rob ford. ford dropped out of the mayoral race because he was diagnosed with a rare type of cancer. but that didn't stop him from running for city council. ford won a seat on the council, with 59-percent of the vote. his brother, doug, who took over second place. john tory will become toronto's new mayor on december first. walmart is apologizing again.. this time, for labeling a category of merchandise on its website as "fat girl costumes." the category has since been changed to "plus size," but features costumes of vampires, clowns, and witches. walmart released an apology..

mystery on their hands. one of their fans vanished during last thursday's game with the chargers. paul kitterman was attending his first game. he left his seat at halftime to use the men's room. that was the last time his friends saw him. the stadium was searched... the hospitals were checked... but there is no sign of kitterman. now, his stepson is asking for stadium surveillance video, in hopes of getting any kind of lead.// >> to look at it and tell the luger at what time and to see a half in while i was still in the bathroom. c where he went. it was a 5-10 minute window. >> butkitterman has no health problems. and his stepson says, it's not like him to just walk away without telling someone. he was carrying about 50 dollars in cash, and no credit cards. denver police are working with stadium officials to try to locate kitterman. a judge in colorado has postponed the death penalty trial for james holmes. jury selection will begin in january, more than a month later than previously scheduled. the judge wants to give holmes' attorneys times to evaluate a

it's of a budding member of the boston police department's k-9 force. when this german shepherd, named "tuco", is full grown ... he will fit into this bulletproof vest that's made just for dogs. it was provided by a non-profit group that works to protect police dogs as much as police officers. take a look at this! guys dressed in "frozen" themed halloween costumes. but these aren't just any guys though... they're boston bruins players! they went "reverse" trick or treating at boston children's hospital yesterday, passing out bruins swag to young patients. they even played the part of elsa and anna. >> that's enough to scare and the kid ... >>you remember them -- the guys who sang and danced around on treadmills.... we'll, "o-k go" is back with another visual, music experience.
