a bipartisan group of senators. president obama will need to work with the republican controlled house and the final two years of his term. he thinks the two parties can find common ground on issues like investing in manufacturing and early childhood education. the supreme court has agreed to consider a challenge to keep a portion of the president's health- care overhaul. the justices today said they will hear a republican bac appeal targeting tax subsidies that have helped 4 million people get insurance. the ruling could undo the law completely. a decision will come by sometime in june. for the first of an appeals court upholds the ban of gay marriage. the future of same-sex marriages should be decided through elections and not the legal process. the decision affects the states of ohio and michigan tennessee and kentucky. >> court hears

had connection to republican charges. >>it turns out that governor elect bruce rauner did try to call house speaker michael madigan on election night. during his victory speech, rauner said he called house speaker michael madigan and senate president john cullerton and told them he wanted to work with them. but madigan's office initially said it didn't get a call. now they say they found rauner's voicemail. they say rauner called a staff person's cell phone, from an unknown number. rauner has still not actually spoken to cullerton or madigan. >>governor elect rauner hits the road today to thank voters across illinois. yesterday he introduced his transition team, which includes some democrats. one of them is bill daley, who last served as president obama's chief of staff. there's also former state senator james meeks and pastor corey brooks. rauner didn't give many details about his agenda. he did say he hopes legislators don't pass anything significant during the lame duck session in springfield. >> to our top story.

joins us now from the dirksen federal building. patrick what can you tell us? >> an extraordinary morning in many regards happened up here. as you mentioned at the top of the report we are talking about sentencing day for the illinois representative. in his words when the judge and down the sentence he said hallelujah. here is what is happening in terms of his sentencing. no jail time in six months of probation. hang back $3,784. money he owed on back taxes. a thousand dollar fine that he has to pay over several months time. essentially what this case boils down to is that this is a tax return from 2007 were he overstated the value of property. the original indictment against the sky was 20 felony counts. the u.s. attorney's office for several different reasons

several times already village authorities are forced to pack up pretend and move on. she cannot care for her dogs in this situation. anderson says a shelter is not an option for her. because she works part-time overnights at a local grocery store. shelters have strict rules about residents coming and going in the middle of the night. a shelter row not allow her to live with their dogs. both stocks as sweet and gentle as can be. they're being cared for by the staff of roseville animal hospital. recognizing the terrible plight. the house, has been courting the pets for nearly six months now free of charge. anderson lost her home after the breakup of her marriage. she desperately mrs our dogs.mrs. her dogs.

things are almost back to normal here at robinson elementary after a health scare this week. about 20 kids are still active due to illness. that is a big improvement. >> all lots of tumm ies are better today. pernod back in class. the old brick prompted district 103 to shut down the school yesterday after more than 80 kids and teachers called out sick. quite a few are still out. >> we have about 20 children that called in. some of them are sick. others are keeping them home for another day. county health officials say he was a highly contagious nor all virus that swept through the school affecting one-third of the student virus spreading to some

bijon massie marshall is being held on bond for aggravated robbery and being a fugitive. he's accused of robbing an elderly woman and a store, last month. he also faces charges for stealing a car, while on probation, last year. the preservation of wrigley field will force one piece of history to temporarily relocate. a move to the north end of relief. would live at the park and watch over the property. wrigley field was often referred to as 'bobby dorrs house' and dorr was considered one of the best grounds superintendents in baseball. dorr lived in the house until his death in 1957. the house now serves as office space for the concessionaires at wrigley. the caretaker's home will return to its original location by opening day. >> lots of history. the plan is forced to make an emergency landing without wheels. we will show you the video. the couple of injuries. >> the patient that tax nurses as a at a minnesota

three students at a high school in gurnee are charged with felony distribution of child pornography in a case of sexting and cyberbullying against a female student. three freshmen boys at warren township high school were charged after the girl reported inappropriate activities via cell phones among the

students. the students' names were not released, but the case is the talk of campus, where the suspects are described as good kids who made a foolish choice. >>why would you do that and expect no consequenc es >> it is really the parents obligation to educate their kids. kids will make mistakes. >> gurnee police say the investigation is on-going and more students are expected to be charged. >> read accident that killed the actress has spawned a lawsuit. she was killed in september when a tree fell on top of her. the tree was uprooted by wind gusts as the storm moved in. a lawsuit filed by her husband claims the forest preserve district failed to keep the area clear of dead or dying trees. a spokesperson says he does not comment on

pending litigation. >>for the first time in court, it's revealed a father shot the two men who allegedly killed his son. a chicago police officer and iraq war veteran. 30 year-old thomas wortham the fourth was shot outside his parent's home in the chatham neighborhood in may 2010. he had just showed them pictures of an event he attended in washington, d-c for fallen police officers. one of the suspects was killed, the other wounded. wortham's mother broke down in tears when prosecutors played her 9-1-1 call. the two defendants on trial are accused of being in a getaway car. >> or rural police are looking for five more arrests after the yearlong investigation of drug crimes and street gangs. they arrested 14 of 19 suspects. all of the suspects live in laura. the rest of the suspects are charged with distributing heroin and cocaine. two of the men face federal charges. several suspects already on

probation. >> charged with killing a family for four years ago. he is accused of murdering joseph and summer plus their two young children in february of 2010 carried the remains were found into shallow graves in 2013. he was a business associate of the man. authorities believe he acted alone. >>surveillance video released yesterday shows a disturbing attack on nurses by a patient at a minnesota hospital. take a look authorities say 68- year-old charles logan attacked eight nurses. using a bar pulled from the side of his hospital bed. once he got outside, police tired to stop his rampage with a taser but they say it did not connect to him. he was tackled and hancuffed, but died moments later. his body will undergo an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. kidder's in new zealand have dropped murder for hire charges against phil rudd. >> accused of trying to have to man

killed. local prosecutors decided there was not enough evidence to pursue that case. he still faces charges of threatening to kill someone as well as drugs. he is scheduled to go to a worldwide tour with ac/dc time next year. >> man caught kidnapping a woman is in virginia to face charges for another violent crime. he hit a teenager with a shovel and put her into the trunk of a car in virginia. barnes took the 60 year-old girl to the family home where he sexually assaulted her and then try to set her on fire. the girl allegedly escaped when he was distracted. police caught him in maryland. three days after he allegedly adelconducted a nurse's assistant. >>it was a scary moment in canada when a plane came in for an emergency landing without full use of its wheels. sparks flew as the

analysts expected expected to dip to 5.9. >>a company that's accused of making faulty air-bags, has reportedly been hiding problems from years ago. takata corporation was hit by a federal lawsuit after some airbags exploded and hit people with shrapnel. the new york times reports the company's engineers found problems with their airbags back in 2004. but instead of reporting that to regulators, the executives had the test data deleted and the air-bags thrown away. takata didn't issue a recall until four years later. the company has not commented on this report. state lawmakers cleared the way for hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, to begin in illinois. the rules were approved in a committee meeting yesterday, allowing oil and gas drillers to start applying for permits. environmentalists are angry, because they say the decision was made behind closed doors. and, the rules aren't expected to be made public
