heard one shot fired. security guard for the diner was shot. it sounds like he will be ok. he was taken to hospital. the other diners who were here said they all hit in a very small bathroom. the could not hear any more shots go off. they can't say the got a good look at the three men, just as they walked in wearing masks and they took off with the entire cash register. we have a security guard who works for the diner shot. taken to the hospital. it appears he will be okay according to a sergeant at the scene. the three men who walk in and shot that factory guard took off with the entire cash register. a lot of people were inside hiding in the bathroom. several of those people called 911. that is what we know. this is not the first time in shooting has happened at this diner. in

january 20132 men were shot and killed there were taking a smoking break outside and at that time a third man did survived the shooting. that happened while several people were gathered inside at a birthday party. police here at the scene just finished up speaking to people inside security guard is at the hospital. the missing cash register. on the south side. back to you. >>president obama is taking it upon himself to reform the immigration system. last night he announced an overhaul that could keep up to five-million people from being deported. the president first brought up improving border security and making it easier for high skilled immigrants to stay in the country. most of his address focused he's giving parents of american citizens or legal residents a chance to avoid deportation. they have to live in the u-s for over five years, pass a background check, and pay taxes. it does not apply to anyone who entered the country illegally recently.

also...it's not a path to citizenship. some republicans in congress are attacking the president's methods. >> he has no constitutional authority to do that. this is a constitutional crisis. >> to those who question my authority to make our immigration system work better, when questioned the wisdom of me acting work congress has failed, pass a bill. that's my answer. >>president obama says the current state of immigration is the real amnesty since it lets people live here without paying taxes. he also told congress to not let disagreement over this issue be a deal breaker on every issue. local immigration activists watched the president at this viewing party in pilsen. the place was full of people who could benefit from the president's actions. they say they're relieved, but more needs to be done. >> for me it means our family, they are removed from the threat of deportation. thinking that

our family at any time could be separated. >> it's not a lot. it will let a lot of people left out. some will be benefited. but it's a step in the right direction. >>illinois congressman luis gutierrez says he will work with local groups to help eligible families so chicago is a model for the country. several illinois republicans signed a statement, calling it a lawless plan that will do more harm than good. a woman with a gun was arrested outside the white house after the president's speech. the secret service says april enhart was demonstrating outside the white house, when security saw she had a holstered gun. she was arrested and charged with possessing an un-registered firearm and not having a gun license. lenhart is from michigan. the secret service says she was not cooperating with their investigation. the ferguson missouri police officer who shot and killed michael brown, may be stepping down. darren wilson maintains, he did nothing wrong in defending himself from brown's attacks and threats.

but he says...still being a part of the ferguson police department puts pressure on his fellow officers. he is said to be in final negotiations with city officials to resign....as early as today. protesters are already out on the streets of ferguson, waiting for the grand jury decision on whether to indict officer wilson. about a dozen protestors blocked traffic last night outside the police station. fights broke out when police tried to keep order. two demonstrators were arrested. michael brown's father is pleading with supporters to remain calm. by some eyewitness accounts, no matter what the jury decides, i do not want my son's death to be in vain. i want it to lead to incredible change, positive change, change that makes the st. louis reasoregion better for everyone. >> by some eyewitness accounts, michael brown reached for officer wilson's gun... beat him up in his police car... and was charging toward him when wilson fired the fatal shots. others say brown was

police were interviewing several people who were still inside the restaurant. investigators allow them to leave just before 4:00 a.m.. the shooting and robbery happened just after 3:00 a.m.. the diner is open 24 hours. patrons say every seat was filled. initial reports say three men walked into the restaurant and announced the robbery. and wearing masks walked in and announced the robbery. there is a security guard who did try to stop one of the robbers. they struggled and a shot was fired and the security check guard was shot. the robber took off with the entire cash register, got into a car going eastbound. customers went into the bathroom and hid until officers arrived. >> the man with the gun was tackled by a security guard. there was a rustle. he was shot and end up with this

wednesday night at the home of a friend in mount pleasant, wisconsin. police say he hit her in the head with a hatchet. she had gone there, after seeking an order of protection. the chicago police department says it's having success catching criminals by posting surveillance video of crime scenes on its facebook page. each posting describes the crime, and when possible, displays video of the suspects. the c-p-d says people recognize the faces, and help put *names with those faces... making it easier for officers to track down the suspects. two protesters were arrested last night in ferguson, missouri, where a grand jury will soon decide whether to indict police officer darren wilson in the shooting death of michael brown. and now, we learn, officer wilson is in final negotiations with the city to resign. he says his presence is putting too much pressure on his fellow officers. when the ferguson grand jury issues its findings, protesters plan to march at police stations and courthouses in several cities across america. a *chicago protest is planned at police headquarters at 6:30 in the evening, on whatever day the decision comes.

with leaked evidence and eyewitness accounts the gunman before state university reached out. package to arrive today. police say myron may shot three people before he was killed by campus police early yesterday morning. may was an f-s-u graduate, and a junior level prosecutor until he resigned, unexpectedly, in october. police say according to journals and videos, may believed the government had him under surveillance. eight people received an e- mail from may, saying they will be receiving a package. none of the eight people know each other. they're being told to call police when the package arrives. the obama administration admitted they made a mistake... on the number of people enrolled in obamacare health insurance plans. only 6-point-7 million americans were enrolled in the plans as of mid- october... not the 7-point- 1 million originally reported. the white house said the higher figure included people enrolled in stand- alone dental plans. it hasn't said how many of those people were previously uninsured. the administration wants to get 9-point-1 million

americans enrolled for next year. governor-elect bruce rauner went to springfield yesterday to visit with state lawmakers, and get a look at the state's books. and he doesn't like what he sees. >> our financial condition is stunningly bad. it's horrible. it's worse than i think the newspapers have said they called it a booby trapped budget. that is a kind term. it understates the situation. the financial condition is dire. we need to take strong action. >>for starters, rauner is asking outgoing governor quinn to freeze all state hiring, in preparation for the new administration in springfield. if you pay fees to use chicago park district programs and properties, those fees are going to get bigger next year. the park district is proposing fee hikes on everything from parking meters and picnic permits, to swimming classes and summer camps. next year's park budget is 23 million dollars higher than the current budget. the fee hikes are expected to make up the difference.

a supreme court challenge to chicago's controversial red light camera program is dismissed. two judges recused themselves, one of them ann burke, the wife of alderman ed burke. the rest of the court declared it was divided on the issue. the lawsuit argued the red light camera program is illegally enacted. the program has been plagued by allegations of contract rigging, operational problems and unfairness. so far, it's generated almost a half-*billion dollars for chicago. given birth to a healthy baby girl, who hath pity of a girl born tuesday. she is an iraqi war veteran who lost both legs when her helicopter was hit by a grenade back in 20 04. congratulations to her. they say opposites attract, but sometimes they just want to be friends. the stock cannot spend time away from these two cats. the duckling and

killed on their way to a dream vacation to disney world. michael and trudi hardman and three of their children died in a car accident wednesday night near calhoun, louisiana. their 16-year-old son was driving the car... and apparently fell asleep at the wheel. police say the s-u-v he was driving veered off the highway and rolled over. two other siblings survived the accident. one is in critical condition. none of those killed wore seatbelts. we're getting our first look at the chilling text messages a high school student sent, in the days and hours leading up to a deadly school shooting in washington state. jaylen fryberg killed four fellow students at pilchuk high school in marysville, october 24-th. police then shot and killed
