5:00 am
>> announcer: the following is a paid presentation for the nutribullet rx, nature's prescription nutrition extractor, brought to you by nutribullet llc. >> my stomach issues literally went away. >> my acne has cleared up. >> my hot flashes have subsided. >> i'm saying goodbye to diabetes. >> my shoulder pain has gone. >> i was able to sleep better at night. >> i've lost 100 pounds. >> over the last two years, all across the country, an astonishing 10 million people, at a rate of 15,000 a day, have joined the nutribullet healing revolution, using the power of nutrition to completely transform their health and change their life, without
5:01 am
taking medication. >> the way that i had to take ibuprofen instantly dropped. >> i not have once touched my rescue inhaler. >> next thing i knew, i was off the insulin. >> it's just wonderful when the doctor says, "you know what? you don't need the meds anymore." >> announcer: now, from the makers of the original nutrition extractor, comes the latest evolution in this wellness revolution. introducing the all-new nutribullet rx, nature's prescription nutrition extractor. the nutribullet rx uses breakthrough smart extraction technology, as well as a super-powerful 2.3 horsepower motor, to break down and open up foods like never before, giving you the most nutrient-packed superfood drink ever, that can now be used as nature's medicine to help fight and prevent all types of conditions and diseases and help us to get back to being healthy again. and with the press of a button, the nutribullet rx switches into soup mode to make hot, delicious, nutritious soup in an instant. so, join former cnn and fox anchor kiran chetry, as she
5:02 am
talks to some of the top experts in the medical world to discuss the impact the nutribullet rx can have on our overall health, as well as meet with longevity and nutrition expert david wolf as he introduces kiran to this breakthrough machine that he says will change the way we treat sickness forever. the all-new nutribullet rx. >> two years, 10 million people now using this machine. how did it catch on like this? >> people started actually being able to consume and, more importantly, absorb the nutrients in their fruits and vegetables in a way that was never possible before, by using this machine. but, kiran, i'm so excited to introduce you to the next generation of this machine. this is the all-new nutribullet rx. >> well, you can obviously tell this one's bigger, but what makes this machine so different? >> the most important thing about this machine is that it was designed, from the very
5:03 am
beginning, with nutrition, health, and wellness in mind. all right, i want you to watch closely, kiran. the next nutriblast rx that i'm going to make addresses what's been referred to, on the cover of "time" magazine, as the secret killer, and that, is inflammation. but, kiran, here's the good news. we've learned that we can fight inflammation through the power of nutrition. we're gonna start this blast with the most powerful anti-inflammatory food on the planet, and that's turmeric. it contains the super-molecule curcumin, which draws that inflammation right out of our system. next, we're gonna go after yellow pineapple for its tissue-repair qualities and its bromelain enzyme, another anti-inflammatory powerhouse. next, let's look at avocado. we can see that, yeah, it's partially green, but there's a lot of yellow there. and those yellow pigments, they're oily, and they help us
5:04 am
to extract all of the nutrients from all the other ingredients in this nutriblast. so we're gonna put a slice of avocado in. okay, next, let's look at chard. one of the most nutritious, green, leafy vegetables on the planet. a great source of chlorophyll, a great source of fiber, and that color we see is called betalain, and that's one of the best blood builders in the world. and then we're gonna go over to the cucumber. what do we do with cucumbers? we usually peel off the best part. that's the skin. and the skin contains the anti-inflammatory minerals and beauty minerals that are so essential. we're gonna put in a few slices of cucumber. and then we go over to the chia seed. it contains anti-inflammatory omega-3 fatty acids. but we've got to be able to get in there and extract them out. and that's why this machine is so powerful. the nutribullet rx can draw out those omega-3s and completely mix it into our nutriblast.
5:05 am
and then i'll reach over for my favorite beverage, coconut water. and what we see in coconut water is an electrolyte-rich, delicious carrier for this nutriblast. i'm gonna fill up to the max line. >> so, david, tell me. can you literally just throw in any raw vegetables pretty much that you have in your fridge and make something that tastes good? >> yes, absolutely. kiran, we're only limited by our imagination. all right, now i'm gonna twist on the turbo extractor blades. watch what happens now. the green light is on, and it's gonna start up automatically. the nutribullet rx has been pre-programmed to turn at exactly the right speed and wind down at exactly the right intervals and then come back up to top speed at exactly the right time. this is our breakthrough smart extraction technology. inside this compact housing is a 2.3 horsepower motor.
5:06 am
this is so powerful, it mines out all of those hidden nutrients deep within the food, allowing us to access nature's medicine. [ machine shuts off ] and it shuts itself off automatically. all right. let's see what happened. let me get a couple glasses out. i'm gonna take off the extractor blades. what we know is, the more that we break down the food particles, the smaller those particles or nutrients become. the smaller that they are, the easier they are to absorb. and the nutribullet rx is designed to break down food particles like no other machine in the world. this, kiran, is what we call a nutriblast rx. cheers. >> cheers. >> give it a try. >> it's actually not bad. >> we know from experience that just one of these a day can change your life. >> so, as david kept referring to these drinks as "nature's
5:07 am
medicine," i wanted to speak to one or two medical experts to get their take on what role, if any, nutrition can play in the fight against the current epidemic of diseases. tell me what conditions, either directly or indirectly, are related to some form of inflammation in our bodies? >> i'm a rheumatologist. obviously, arthritis, we all know about. but people don't think about things like heart disease. the higher your rate of inflammation, the more likely you are to have a heart attack. there's things like diabetes. even cancer -- there is tie-ins with inflammation. >> and digestive issues and autoimmune, as well? >> we see, in autoimmune disease, inflammation is a hallmark sign and leads to tissue damage and the problems that we see. so, basically, almost all the things we deal with on a daily basis, inflammation plays a key role. >> so we want to reduce inflammation. how big of a role does getting the proper nutrition play in getting better? >> the role of nutrition is huge. it is absolutely essential to helping heal your body from a variety of conditions -- almost
5:08 am
any condition. i mean, i think, certainly obvious, we talk about raw fruits and vegetable; nuts, because they're high in some of the good oils which are natural anti-inflammatories; turmeric, which is curcumin is a natural anti-inflammatory; ginger is a natural anti-inflammatory. and if you eat the right things -- the right fruits, the right vegetables -- blended, within 12 weeks, you can reduce the pain you're having by 50%. i'm a western doctor. i believe in the importance of medication and what it does, but there's absolutely no question that the right nutrition can lead to either reduction, either slowing down, or even sometimes reversing a number of different diseases. >> i wanted to try the nutribullet rx because i was having tons of allergy symptoms, like my eye was swelling up like every two weeks, like huge. then, i would have to take steroids every day to get it to go down. i was taking an inhaler, nasal spray, an asthma medication, and a allergy medication every
5:09 am
morning and every night. after using the nutribullet rx for about 10 days, i started to see, like, huge results. like, i wasn't as itchy, i wasn't as inflamed. i stopped taking the medications slowly. i stopped with the inhaler first, 'cause my asthma started to go away. and then, slowly, by 2 1/2 weeks of using the nutribullet rx, i wasn't taking any medication. my eye isn't swelling. like, it's literally night and day. this is really good. i'm just, like -- i feel healthy. i am healthy. >> kiran, when we were in development of the nutribullet rx, we wanted to create a machine that gave everybody other options for delicious, nutritious, healthy meals. when we put this attachment on the nutribullet rx, that gives us the ability to create a variety of hot, delicious, nutritious soups that are also nature's medicine. let me show you. we're going to start with
5:10 am
heart-friendly garlic, with the skin on it -- no more peeling. we're going to get those extra antioxidants from the skin. then, we'll add in cashews for their creaminess and their complete protein. next, we're going to put in some basil to get that flavor, but also basil is extraordinarily rich in calcium. and then thyme, which is rich in iron. now comes the tomato, rich in lycopene. that's that red color. this is one of the strongest antioxidants in nature. and we're going to show you in a minute how all of these ingredients together, in this machine, is going to draw out that lycopene, making it more available for absorption. we're going to fill up with almond milk. all right, i want you to watch closely, kiran, because what happens next is going to be unlike anything we've seen before. you see that green light? when i press that button, it turns red, and that indicates that we are in soup mode.
5:11 am
the heat, in combination with the cyclonic action and the presence of the oils from the almond milk and the chia seed, draws out that lycopene, making this super antioxidant dramatically more available for absorption. lycopene is five times more powerful than vitamin "c" as an antioxidant. you can see here that the color has changed. that's the lycopene being drawn out. [ machine shuts off ] and now we're ready. remember everything that we put in here -- the garlic with the skins, the cashews for the creaminess, the mineral-rich basil and thyme, the sea salt with its electrolytes, chia seed for that brilliant texture, those fresh, ripe tomatoes, and the calcium-rich almond milk? this is what we call a souperblast.
5:12 am
let's give it a try. >> [ slurps ] >> [ slurps ] >> it's good. tastes a lot like something i could make on the stove or maybe buy at the store. but you're saying this is better for me. why? >> we've extracted all those nutrients. we've made them more available for absorption. and we didn't have to watch the stove. it's hot, it's delicious, it's nutritious and wholesome, and this is still nature's medicine. >> there was an evening where my 8-year-old didn't feel so well, and he said, "mommy, will you make me some tomato soup?" and i said, "sure, baby, i'll make you tomato soup. i got this nutribullet thing!" and i just threw whole tomatoes in there, fresh basil, garlic, cashews, and i could just stick in on that base and walk away and know that my son was going to get a nutritious meal that was hot. and he loved it, and he asked for it multiple times. it made me feel more accomplished as a mom. it's like, "okay, i am doing my
5:13 am
job." >> i had, like, an accumulation of, i would say, like 70% blockage in carotid artery. lucky me, i was watching tv and, all of a sudden, i see the nutribullet. i put some broccoli, i put some carrots in this nutribullet machine, and in just minutes, i have an excellent, delicious soup. i start feeling much better, much stronger. about two, three months later, i went for second checkup with the vascular doctor, and he says to me, "maurice, this is excellent. your blockage went down, and your artery open up." so, this is a new, new, totally new lease of life with this nutribullet, and i really love it. >> before nutribullet, i had headaches -- lots of headaches. it wasn't due to outside stressors. it was due to what i was eating. when my doctor told me that i was pre-diabetic, all i thought was the worst. he said, "you need to change the way you eat." i said, "i don't know how to do that." he said, "i'll give you one word -- nutribullet."
5:14 am
check this out. the nutribullet rx makes the perfect nutriblast every single time. since using nutribullet rx, those headaches are gone. oh! i'm lowering my blood sugar. i'm lowering my cholesterol. i'm improving the quality of my life, and i'm saying goodbye to diabetes. can you imagine waking up every night with a headache, acid-reflux disease, stressed out, and worried about dying? i don't do that anymore. i don't do that anymore at all. >> announcer: americans taking over-the-counter and prescription medication to treat all kinds of conditions and diseases is at an all-time high. but something has happened recently that has started to turn everything around. over the last two years, all across the country, an astonishing 10 million people, at a rate of 15,000 a day, have joined a wellness movement to completely transform their health without taking medication. so, what is this movement?

5:21 am
as a gynecologist, you obviously see women. what kind of conditions, what types of ailments, problems, or diseases do you see the most of in your practice? >> now, because i'm getting older -- your patients get older with you -- it's perimenopause and menopause. so it's a lot of hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia, mood swings. >> do you just have to sort of suffer through, you know, the change of life, as they called it, or are there ways that you can alleviate these very difficult symptoms that people go through when they're in menopause? >> you know, i was trained to give women hormones, and i do. i give women a lot of bio-identical hormones. but what i realized is, when they change their diet and go on an anti-inflammatory diet, they often don't even need hormones. the hot flashes are so much better that they feel like, "okay, i can handle this," or they can sleep better at night. >> how do you get the type of nutrition you know you're supposed to have -- your fruits, your vegetables, your good fats -- into you when you have a busy lifestyle and you don't
5:22 am
have time to cook every day? >> that's where you start looking at something to help you, and that's where the nutribullet, i believe, is such a fantastic invention. i would recommend the nutribullet wholeheartedly, no reservation. >> the one thing that i found with the nutribullet and menopause is, they actually have some nutriblast that you can use right before you go to bed that calms your body down. and that is wonderful to me because anybody that's going through menopause knows that it's insomnia and hot flashes and mood swings. but because of the nutriblast, doing one before i go to bed at night, calms down everything about your body. it helps you relax. i have no problems sleeping now. >> if your story is like mine, and you suffer from migraines, it can help you. >> since using the nutribullet rx, i've lost 100 pounds, and it's just a whole nother person. but the biggest thing that people see in me is that i'm happy. you know? and i like telling people about the nutribullet.

5:29 am
5:30 am
>> announcer: the following program is paid for by the friends and partners of joyce meyer ministries. [music] >> joyce: the title of my message tonight is "trusting god when you don't understand." now we're gonna look at several groups of scriptures tonight that i believe will refresh us in the awesome majesty and greatness of the god
5:31 am
that we serve. toward the end of the message, we're even gonna look at a few scriptures that tell us what heaven's gonna be like. and i think sometimes we don't take enough time to look at that stuff enough to really build our faith up in the greatness of god. you know, it's wonderful to talk about how he's our friend and he's our buddy. and he's here with us in everyday life, and we can talk to him about everything and we can have close fellowship. but we have to be very careful that we don't let a spirit of familiarity get on us where all of a sudden now, god is just our friend and our buddy and we forget that he's also awesome and mighty and all powerful and that we're to have reverential fear for god. and we're not to forget that there's nothing that he cannot do and there's nothing that he does not know. and there's never a place that you are where he's not. >> [applauding] >> joyce: and that we can't hide anything from him. he knows every thought before we think it, every word before we speak it. he knew all of our days before
5:32 am
ever there was yet one of them. job chapter 9. everybody always groans when we say job, but we're going there anyway. it's right before psalms. i think after job we need some psalms. >> [laughing] >> joyce: now you know job's a guy that, as far as i'm concerned, could haveas a reasonable complaint. "[god] who removes the mountains, they know it not when he overturns them in his anger; who shakes the earth out of its place, and the pillars of it tremble." now try to really pay attention to these and just get an understanding of the awesomeness of god. "who commands the sun, and it rises not; who seals up the stars [from view]." just think about that. the stars are there and then here comes the light and you can't see the stars anymore. god commands the sun to come up and it comes up. he tells its to go down and it goes down. he calls for the wind and it comes.
5:33 am
he tells it to go and it goes. it calls for lightning and there it is. we need to have a greater view of what an awesome god that we serve. amen? now watch this verse 10, "who does great things past finding out, yes, he does marvelous things without number." there's always gonna be things in our lives that we do not have the answers to. and i can tell you from personal experience as well as the word of god, if you have to know the why behind everything, then you're gonna spend your life trying to figure everything out, you are never gonna have contentment and satisfaction. you are never gonna enter the rest of god because trust always requires having some unanswered questions in your life. >> [applauding] >> joyce: how many of you have had some things happen in your life that have been pretty tough
5:34 am
that you just don't get it? how many of you have had some things happen that seem really unfair? i mean you just didn't really think you deserved what you got if you want to know the truth. it was like, "well, that's just not right." let's look at daniel chapter 4. "and all the inhabitantspter 4. of the earth are accounted as nothing. and he does according to his will in the host of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth, and none can stay his hand or say to him, what are you doing?" how many times have you said that to god this week? "what, god, what are you doing? i just don't understand, what are you doing?" and you know sometimes we have a dream or a vision from god, something we feel like that he wants us do and we just step out in faith and we're so proud of ourself 'cause we took this bold step. and then all of a sudden,
5:35 am
nothing starts working the way that we thought it was gonna work. "why, god, why? what are you doing? i don't understand. i thought. i thought. i thought." well, you know what? stop thinking. go back and see what's in your heart. "well, yeah, yeah, i believe that's what god told me do." then don't try to figure it out. i love what the bible says about abraham, that god told him, "leave your family and the place where you live. leave your home and all that you're comfortable with and go to the place that i will show you and i will make of you a great nation. i will make your name famous. i will bless you and i will make you a blessing." and the bible says, "he left and did not trouble his mind about where he was to go." he just started moving and said, "god will lead me." how many of you think that maybe i'm right that we spend a little too much time in our brains trying to figure too much stuff out and we need to believe that god is in control?
5:36 am
say, "god, i trust you." now, moses said in exodus 3:13, "god, behold, when i come to the israelites and i say, the god of your fathers has sent me, and they say to me, well, what is his name? what shall i tell them? and god said to moses, i am who i am and what i am, and i will be what i will be.' he still don't know a thing. what kind of an explanation is this? "i am who i am. i will be what i will be. i'll do what i want to do. just tell them i am has sent me." now, god is a great god, an awesome god. so many things that we can have questions about, but instead
5:37 am
of that he wants to hear, "i trust you." we have to not know and be satisfied. we have to come to a place in our walk with god where even though it doesn't seem fair or doesn't feel right that we love god enough and trust him enough that we know that whatever's going on in our life that he's still in control and that if we keep trusting him, he will work it out for our good. in john chapter 20, jesus was dealing with thomas and "jesus said to him, because you have seen me now, thomas, do you now believe (trust, and have faith)? well, blessed and happy and to be envied are those who have never seen me and yet have believed and adhered to and trusted and relied on me." blessed are those who believe and have not seen.
5:38 am
blessed are those who believe and do not understand. you know, i've heard many testimonies throughout my years of ministry and read many books about people who've had visions of jesus and how he's come into their room and sat down on their bed and talked to them, and how they've seen angels and so on and so forth. and i've never seen any of that. and i used to get a little bit kind of miffed about it. it's like well, god, hello. >> [laughing] >> joyce: you know, i'm like really committed to this. i mean if people can see that stuff, why am i not seeing it? because to be honest with you, that has to just jump start your faith. i mean just imagine if jesus would just come and sit on the end of your bed and have about a 45-minute conversation with you. that might get you through the next through years. amen? and i think sometimes when we hear those stories, we think, "oh, those people must have really, really, really great faith." well, i'm kind of thinking that it's the people who never see anything and just keep
5:39 am
plodding along and pressing on and pressing in and that maybe have got the greater faith. and so the only thing that god would ever say to me when i would ask those questions is "well, blessed are those who believe and have not seen." so let's just even take it a little bit further and say maybe if you haven't seen your breakthrough and you're still believing, then you're really extra blessed. amen? maybe if you've had something happen in your life that just do not understand and you cannot wrap your mind around and there's no way you can even get it to work out in your head but you still believing, maybe you're more blessed than the ones who have never had those challenges and they believe. you know, it's one thing to say you believe. it's another thing to have your faith tested severely and come out on the other side of it still believing god.
5:40 am
>> christina: it's so hard to sum up a life of somebody you love so dearly in just a few words. judson, smile. we didn't actually anticipate having children, of course, god has his own plans. when we first found out that judson was developing in my womb, we began to pray abraham's prayer that he would be a blessing for other people and not just for us and that god would use him in the lives of other people. when judson was 19 months old, we welcomed his sister jessie. >> judson: she loves me. >> christina: she loves you. >> christina: so we were living life thinking this is amazing. we've got these two beautiful kids, and we were thriving as a family. god has purpose and the purpose for our kids is outside of ourselves. judson is a remarkable
5:41 am
little boy. i can only be grateful to have been given the gift to be his mom when i think about who he is and what god was doing in his life and even still is doing through his life. >> christina: uh-oh. you okay, jud? >> christina: judson began stumbling, and i didn't think too much of it at the time, but i did end up taking him to the doctor. the doctor also said, "it's probably not much to worry about. it will get better soon." well, the next couple days, i started to see that judson was then overreaching and under reaching for things when he went to grab it. and that was the clincher to say something is really--something seems to be really off here. then the next couple weeks we began to write some misdiagnoses, some that had us elated that our son was gonna
5:42 am
be healthy and whole again to diagnoses that were gonna be devastating. >> christina: are you bigger than mommy? >> judson: someday. >> christina: someday? >> judson: yeah. >> christina: yup, someday you'll be bigger than mommy. >> drake: judson was and is so beautiful, and i think what happened in those most trying of times, i just still see the spirit of god working in some amazing ways to bear him up and in the midst of bearing him up, bearing us up under the weight of everything that we were dealing with. there was nothing like hearing that laugh of his. >> judson: i kidding me. >> christina: i know, i'm kidding you. >> christina: we ended up having this meeting where we went to meet with several doctors, and we knew going into this that this was probably
5:43 am
gonna be the meeting where they would tell us what was going on with him. >> judson: you go down this one. >> drake: you want daddy to go down? you go down first. >> judson: again. >> drake: again? okay, we'll do it again. >> drake: i remember coming home that day and i remember him saying in my heart that, you know what? as much as man can't do anything about this except help him die comfortably or try, i wanted to seek god for his healing. my feeling was that if i could just get to him and bring him my son, that he would touch him and heal him. as a father, i was consumed with that. >> christina: and when we got that diagnosis, the powerlessness that we felt to protect him and to keep him from this was so profound that it tore at the very fabric of what a parent feels like they're supposed to do is to protect
5:44 am
and care for their child. and i think that powerlessness is what led us to say, "god, you are powerful, and we want in our powerlessness, may we see your power at work? may we see you moving?" >> judson: i love you so much, juddy. oh, jud bud, i'm sorry, sweet man. i'm so sorry. >> christina: before judson began to suffer, i was one of those people who would see somebody struggling, and i would keep a safe distance because it was uncomfortable and i didn't know what to do and i didn't have the right words and i felt powerless. and when judson began to get sick and our lives were being torn apart, something that meant so much to me was when people were willing to enter into our suffering and through that, i believe god then is walking with us through that person. and, you know, judson in his suffering, he was desperate to know we were there.
5:45 am
i mean, he would say, "can you hold me? can you touch me?" because he couldn't see and so he wanted to know somebody was with him. he didn't want to be alone. >> judson: can you lay with me? >> christina: yes, judson, we'll lay with you. >> drake: yeah, we will. >> christina: and so it would be the middle of the night and he would have these blood-curdling screams. and really i think all he really wanted was somebody to come in and be with him. and so one night he was crying out, and i went and i laid next to him. and then we were quiet for a while and because he was blind, he started to get scared 'cause i think he thought i had left. and yet i was literally face-to-face with him and because he was so blind, he couldn't see me. i just put my hand on his back, and he calmed and he was okay because he knew i was there. and i think god does the same for us. he says, "i'm here. you might not see me, but i am here." and the picture of who god is became so real as we loved on our broken child. and i think about we are such--
5:46 am
we are all such broken people. and god looks down and he loves us in those same ways. >> drake: you know, you don't know what it's like to have a shepherd until you get guided through the darkness and you hear his voice. and the thing i see is that as much as i wanted to hold my arms around jud and sing to him and hold him and care for him and pray over him, i know that i have a father who loves me even more tenderly than i love my son. and so when jud was sick, the questions were more pleadings of, "god, would you please heal him? would you please hear our prayer?" but the questions changed. i mean when jud died, the questions did change. >> joyce: why do bad things happen to good people? why do children suffer? what happens when a teenager
5:47 am
commits suicide and nobody even recognized they had a problem? what's wrong when a pastor's son is electrocuted under the platform of his church while he's doing some electrical work and then that man has to get up on that platform and preach week after week after week and try to still trust god and tell people that god is good? seems like just a little bit too much sometimes for god to expect, doesn't it? and i'm obviously telling you stories that i know about. what happens when two christians are sick, really sick? they both pray. they both believe god for a miracle. one gets a miraculous healing and the other one dies. and the one who got the healing really didn't even have probably as much faith as the one who died. why, god, why? why does a young mother of four get terminal cancer? why are children abused? why did my dad abuse me sexually
5:48 am
for almost 15 years and for probably a good 8 of those years i was praying for god to deliver me because i received christ as my savior when i was 9? why didn't he hear my prayer? or maybe he did hear my prayer but he answered it in a little different way than i thought he should have. see, i realize now that although god didn't get me out of the situation, he did give me strength and he built something in me that he's now using to help people all over the world. >> [applauding] >> joyce: come on, we gotta trust god more than to think that when we give him our plan of what he should do in our lives then we spend the rest of our life being confused because he didn't give it to us the way we wanted him to. for years, i was bitter and resentful and didn't understand why god didn't get me out of that situation. i didn't understand. let me tell ya something,
5:49 am
we have real pain and real problems. and job had an awful mess in his life that nobody could understand, and yet i tell you what, god's ordeal brought him to know god in a way that was amazing. this is gonna be my last scripture. job 42:1 through 5, "then job said to the lord, i know that you can do all things, and that no thought or purpose of yours can be restrained or thwarted. [you have said to me] who is this that darkens and obscures counsel [by words] without knowledge? therefore [i now see] that i have [rashly] uttered what i did not understand, things too wonderful for me, which i did not know." verse 5, "i had heard of you [only] by the hearing of the ear, but now my [spiritual] eye sees you." now let me explain something to you. yes, i went through
5:50 am
a terrible ordeal as a child. didn't understand. it was bitter, resentful. had to forgive unbelievable stuff that messed my personality up, and it took me years to recover. but can i tell you something? there was a time in my life when i only knew how to talk about god. but now i know him. i know him and i know the power of his resurrection that can lift you up out of the pit and set you in a place-- >> [applauding] >> joyce: and you know what? please understand if you've lost a loved one, if you've had a child die, if you've lost your spouse, if you have a terminal illness, if you've lost your business, if you've been abused and you just don't understand
5:51 am
what is happening in your life, i beg you don't try to figure it out. trust god and go through those things with him and you will come out on the other side and you will be able to say, "once i could only talk about him, but now i know him and i know the power of his resurrection that lifts us out from among the dead even while we're in the body." come on, i want to know him. does anybody here want to know him, really know him? then you've gotta have experience with god's goodness. you've gotta have experience with his delivering power. let me tell ya something, the day's gonna come when this is all gonna be over, and i'm not gonna take the time to take you to the scriptures about heaven but it says, "there will be no more tiers and no more pain and no more sorrow and no more sighing." and we will hear him say, "it is done for i am the alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last."
5:52 am
>> drake: i did have a lot of questions about why god didn't decide to heal jud, and i don't have any answers. what i am convinced more and more is that the pain that we experience is not the end, but that god is working in the midst of it, that our pain does not mean that if we're suffering, it does not mean that god has given up on us, that god has said to us, "i don't love you." i could tell you that beyond a shadow of a doubt that i know the love of god in deeper and more abiding ways than i ever have. >> christina: you know, my understanding of the love of god was just so different and now it just-- there's so much more depth. that's not to say that i don't still struggle. i have my moments where i say, "god, i don't feel loved right now," and i think we all have
5:53 am
those if we're honest. david, continued to have them. where are you? and i continue to have them. it's not like it's all been resolved for us, you know? we're continuing on this journey and wrestling and struggling. and there are times when i say, "i don't see your love and the pains of this life are so great." but i believe that god is reaching out especially to people in their brokenness when they're feeling so wounded and he's saying, "i want to meet you at that place." >> drake: and, you know, i think that's the peace that's so important for us as well. you know, david in the psalms again and again cries out and complained and groaning and lament and he really shows us a path of authentic grief of authentic suffering, and we cry out in our need. we cry out in even our anger and our frustration, and he hears us and that he has a purpose for us in this world to walk by faith,
5:54 am
to live a life that models his kingdom and to share him with a world that desperately needs him. >> christina: you know, our prayer for judson was this abrahamic blessing that "i will bless you and i will make your name great and you will be a blessing." and that was our prayer for our son. and at the time, we were begging god, "please provide the ram in the thicket so that our son doesn't have to die." and yet judson died. and i remember for the longest time i was like, "god, why didn't you provide the ram in the thicket?" and he spoke so clear to my heart and said, "christina, i did provide the ram in the thicket. jesus is that sacrifice that has replaced the death of your son and he now lives. the ram in the thicket came and that is my son. and it was such a profound moment for me because i was so focused on this earthly existence that i couldn't see the sacrifice he's made for us
5:55 am
to live eternally and that he has provided the ram in the thicket for our son. and he now lives and we will get to live with him in eternity. "i have been here for a long time listening to jesus. no one brought lunch except one little boy." >> joyce: you know, i want to offer a word of comfort today for those who are suffering, who've had a loss, who are going through something really difficult. those who are trying to trust god when what's happening in your life just doesn't make any sense. you know, i often say that trust requires that we have some unanswered questions, but i know that sometimes when you want answers really,
5:56 am
really bad and there aren't any, that it is difficult. i want to encourage you not to run from god in your pain but run to him because he is the god of all comfort. god wants to comfort you right now. he wants you to know that he loves you, that it's not too late for you to begin again. god will heal you. he will heal your wounded soul. he will comfort your emotions. god cares so much about you and his grace is available to you right now to help you. you know, many things that we go through, we cannot possibly handle them on our own. but grace enables us. it gives us the power to do what we need to do. and so i want to encourage you to take advantage of the offer that we have today, these two cds on "overcoming grief & loneliness" and "finding hope in troubled times," which is a dvd. i think these things are really going to help you. if you're hurting, if you've had a loss, if you know someone who
5:57 am
has, why not get these things and let the word of god bring comfort to you? i want to pray for you right now. father, we pray for all those that are hurting, all those that have had a tragedy, a loss, are going through a difficult time. they just feel hopeless, life doesn't make any sense. and i ask you right now by an act of your grace to go to them, to comfort them, to strengthen them, to give them a light in their dark places. i thank you, father, that they are gonna get better and better every day from this day forward. in jesus' name, amen. all right, god bless you and thanks for being with us today. >> announcer: it's one of life's first lessons. >> girl: thank you. >> announcer: but when those two simple words become a way of life, an attitude of gratefulness, it transforms the mundane into the miraculous.
