u-mass, and north quincy. there is some sort of small fire in a cable. buses will fill the gap. we'll keep you posted. a drone flying overhead, helping firefighters make the right moves as a row of boats goes up in flames in quincy. in some cases, families lived on those boots. >> we have a live report from quincy. >> reporter: we know tonight that this fire started in the engine compartment of one boat here that actually sank and was just pulled from the river here a few minutes ago, but then the flames moved quickly this morning, leaving residents, some who were sound asleep, rushing to escape the fast-moving flames. >> first we just thought there was black smoke, but then we saw the flames shooting out within minutes. >> reporter: they say it all happened in an instant. 11 boats damaged or destroyed, including three

that sank. >> i can see it right there. there's nothing left. >> reporter: this couple scrambled to get off their boat and escape the fast-moving flames after the raging fire and choking black smoke first broke out in a neighboring 35-foot vessel and then began jumping from boat to boat to boat. >> it's going to be a long road from here, but we're going to be fine. >> yeah, we'll be fine. >> reporter: emergency responders from brewster ambulance launching this drone over the stubborn two-alarmer, allowing fire officials to see live, real-time images about how to best extinguish the flames. >> so we could get a view of everything. it was a coordinated effort. >> reporter: through the afternoon, salvage crews worked to tow the dajz damaged boats from the river. >> it didn't sink, but it's gone. >> reporter: barbara is just thankful no one was hurt here. >> i'm just thankful everybody's okay.

it could have been so much worse. like last week when the winds were how long, it could have taken the -- howling, it could have taken the whole marina. >> reporter: what happened appears to be accidental, nothing suspicious, though the investigation is continuing. insurance adjustors have been working to tally up the damage, said to be in excess of a million dollars. steve cooper, 7 news. new at 6:00, a driver slammed into a building, the person hit the gym where people were working out. we have more on that. >> reporter: ryan, employees of the gym say the driver, an 82-year-old woman and her husband are regd there at the gym. the woman driving hit the gas instead of the brake when she was trying to park. the car just crashed into the building. sky 7 was over the scene earlier where you can see the damage left behind. the room the car went into

and no one was inside. this stucco building helped minimize damage. the woman's husband was in the passenger seat. neither was hurt. >> she left the scene here with family members, and she wasn't hurt, and we're very thankful for that. >> the husband, after he was looked over by the m.c., he really had a strong desire to get on a treadmill and just walk a little bit. >> police are still investigating this crash. 7news now in worcester. we're getting video just before a school bus accident last month. the driver tumbles out of her seat while trying to take a turn. luckily there were no students on board, but the driver did hit a car. we have what investigators say the driver should have done. >> reporter: it's been a month since this accident happened right here, and you can still see some of the damage. this is a retaining wall here where that bus just came crashing right through

the house. you can see more damage where the cars were slammed up against the car, and now the worcester school department has released video from on board that school bus. the camera inside the school bus shows worcester driver jean making a left turn with one hand, and with her seat belt not fastened, she loses control and tumbles out of her seat. the bus crashes into two cars, pushing one right up against kim's house. >> if his car wasn't there, i think it would have went directly into our house. >> reporter: no kids were on board when the accident happened september 9th. barbara had just dropped them off. she was cited for not having her seat belt fastened. her regular and commercial revoked. she has three speeding violations and three accidents where she was at fault, on her driving record. she was fired from her bus

>> realizing the risk to the safety of the children that could have been on the bus, i would say that they should have, they should have fired her. >> reporter: you think she should be driving a school bus? >> i would say it's a little bit risky, seeing that she caused all of that. >> reporter: kim says they're still driving rental cars because both of their cars were damaged, one of them totaled. >> we're just very happy that things turned out the way that they did. someone's definitely watching over us. that's what we're thinking. >> reporter: we spoke to a relative of barbara's, and they says it was all an accident, that the seat belt just came undone, and that she would never put kids in danger. she says barbara is still suffering from injuries in theo from the crash and facing financial difficulties from being out of work. a fire in oxford appears

eating addiction led him here. >> it's a disease. >> reporter: he was getting the help he needed at rhode island hospital, losing 20 pounds. but after steven violated his care plan by ordering pizza, the hospital told him he could no longer stay. >> i was supposed to stay there and lose all my weight and get down to 550, to get the gastric bypass. that was their plan. >> reporter: the hospital says they can't speak about steven or any patient's treatment. >> if he comes home and i get him up to snuff somehow, some way, he will go right back to his eating habits. >> reporter: the two men will continue to drive until they find a place that will help. if he goes home, they say it will be a death sentence. so far, no luck. showers tomorrow, then a fantastic weekend to follow.

in the low 60s, even mid-60s. 66 for new bedford today. the temperatures have been knocked back a touch, but also specifically along the coastline. you get that on-shore breeze or light wind, doesn't take much in the afternoon, and those temperatures will knock back. you have to remember the temperature readings are not taken in the direct sunlight. if you get out in the direct sunlight, like we've been seeing for the last couple of days, it could easily feel five to ten degrees warmer. high pressure has been keeping our temperatures high, but tomorrow, clouds on the increase as early as overnight tonight. it does take us on a temperature roller coaster. we were in the low 60s today, tomorrow closer to 70, then back down to the low 60s as we kick off the weekend, but

a run out and enjoy the weather kind of day, because we are expecting showers. clouds moving in overnight tonight into the early hours of tomorrow morning. we stay dry until the afternoon hours. we can see these scattered, isolated showers popping up as we get past the 2:00 p.m. hour, and they continue into the evening hours as well. two different roun, really. not a whole lot of rain. we can't rule out the potential for seeing embedded, isolated thunderstorms. if that's the case, some areas getting a little more rain. generally speaking, we're looking at a ten together a third of an inch of rain for most. that's the only wet day we have heading into the weekend. we're looking at dry conditions saturday, sunday, monday. crisp and cool for saturday. columbus day, fantastic, low 70s. clouds overnight tonight, 46 to 54. they'll still be cool. tomorrow, 66 to 71.
