>> jadiann: breaking news at noon. a scary scene at a car auction in framingham. fast car crashed, injuring several people there. >> christa: kelli o'hara is live right now at the scene in framingham with breaking details. kelli? >> reporter: yeah. good afternoon. a half a dozen people rushed to the hospital in framingham after a horrific car accident at this auction house. look at this video we got from inside earlier. this is moments after the chaos broke out. eyewitnesses tell us that around 10:00 this morning,

there was a car auction going on and someone driving a bmw s.u.v. lost control of that car. someone possibly having a medical issue. that individual ended up jerking the car forward, hitting another car, then backing up and hitting cinder block walls that collapsed on a large group of people. eyewitnesses said it was chaos and an absolutely horrific scene. take a listen. >> well, first, i thought it was gunshots. because i heard three pops. and it sounded like a bomb, i guess, when the car hit the wall. everybody was running at that point. i think the guy just had a stroke or something and floored it and ran over some people. >> the guy i was standing with left in an ambulance. i was two feet away from my friend. he left in an ambulance. >> reporter: again, a horrific scene here in framingham this morning. after half a dozen people are

auction house loses control. we will be working this story all day long and bring you the very latest on-line and of course, right here on 7 news. kelli o'hara, 7 news. >> jadiann: a man due in court this afternoon on murder for hire charges. joseph burke of evident was arrested just this morning. jonathan hall joins us live now on the phone. jonathan, what can you tell us? >> reporter: we are at the scene here right now. the f.b.i. is here on lexington street. they have evidence teams. they are here to arrest the man named joseph burke. in his early 50's. agents say he and his girlfriend cooperated in a murder for hire scheme. burke allegedly agreed to travel to new york city to murder someone there. here is the pictures from a few minutes ago. again, there was still an active scene then. we see a man in handcuffs on the street. it is unclear at this time if the man is the target of this

in a 21-page document filed in federal court, an f.b.i. agent writes about these allegations. burke allegedly said this is just another business deal for me. burke has a long rap sheet. he was convicted in federal court of robbery charges in 1998 and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute five years later. he allegedly told an informant he was desperate for cash. he said "i will do that all day long for a price. all day long." he is scheduled to appear before a federal magistrate at 2:30 in worcester. >> christa: more breaking news to pass along right now. a carbon monoxide leak has closed a school in west newton. no classes today at abu farraj al-libbi lynn elementary on derby street.

>> jadiann: steve cooper is live for us in west newton with the latest. >> reporter: right. tense moments here this morning. two people were taken to the hospital. they are both listed in stable condition right now here at the franklin elementary school. the area is now deemed safe by fire officials. they say this is all to blame on a malfunctioning boiler that led to a carbon monoxide leak here. this afternoon, a custodian and contractor remain hospitalized. >> the caron monoxide alarms were going off. a couple of people were trapped in the building. >> reporter: danger brewing in newton this morning. for classes. >> very dangerous. a matter of minutes, you are going down. >> reporter: two male victims, a custodian and private contractor were taken to mass. general hospital. poisoning. they were working on a boiler building. out. the other one made it out on his own. our crew had to carry the >> reporter: officials say

afternoon, steve cooper, 7 news. >> christa: jury selection continues today for a teen on trial, charged with killing his teacher at danvers high school. today judge appointed a legal guardian for philip chism because his mother right now is in the hospital. also, a new pool of more than a hundred potential jurors will be brought in. yesterday, one potential juror was threatened with contempt of court for talking about the trial with other jurors. more than ten jurors have been selected so far. a story out of brockton. police have arrested a 24-year-old man. the brockton enterprise says the arrest comes after a pregnant woman called 911 and told police she was shot in the back by her boyfriend. she was then taken by ambulance to boston medical center. >> jadiann: officers in boston searching for a man and woman. believed to have been involved in a stabbing at the

fast man was stabbed several times, investigators say, before a woman started kicking him. witnesses say the three people were yelling at each other before things turned violent. two women suing uber. the ride-sharing app coming under fire after the women say they were sexually assaulted by drivers. jennifer eagan reports on that lawsuit. >> reporter: the lawsuit against uber claims the company markets itself as the safest option on the road after a night out. targeting young women in, in particular. the two women suing the ride-sharing service say that is misleading. both say they were sexually assaulted by their drivers. one of the women is from boston. her driver was charged after allegedly attacking her last february. the lawsuit calls for an overhaul of uber's safety measures. including adding 24-7 customer support centers in all cities it operates in. disabling the child lock feature on passenger doors, giving customers the option of

and installing tamper-proof cameras in all cars. >> it's important that we put a framework in place to manage this very popular and very successful service for people. >> reporter: governor charlie baker has pushed for legislation that would create more regulations for uber and other ride-sharing companies. >> i have said all along i think there should be a state-wide framework for this. with background checks and insurance coverage and markings on the car. so you know it is a livery vehicle. >> reporter: the two women are suing for unspecified damages. in boston, jennifer eagan, 7 news. >> jadiann: 7 news now turning to the weather. that is live look outside at the skyline. j.r., tracking a couple of spotty showers. not going ruin the holiday weekend. right? >> jeremy: that is correct. yeah. this is a fast-moving weather system. it spends a few hours with us. and then it is out of here. most of the rain-drops this

morning have been focused across new hampshire. that will continue to be the case, i think, as we start the afternoon. so metro-boston, we are dry to eventually, though, it is going to catch up with us. here is where we have the shower activity now back toward albany. this portion of the weather system sweeps across the bay state during the afternoon. probably into metro-west. about 3:00, 4:00. it may hold off until after 4:00 in the city of boston. until then, it's about the windy conditions. look at the winds gusting right now between 25-35 miles per hour. we will have on-and-off showers. mainly mid to late afternoon. then everything sweeps out of here mid evening. setting the stage for a delightful holiday weekend. we will talk more about that in a few minutes. >> christa: more breaking news right now. one person is dead after another shooting on a college campus. >> jadiann: this happened at northern arizona university. nancy is at the breaking news desk. >> reporter: police have a man in custody right now as a result of the shooting. they say that suspect is an 18-year-old freshman at the university.

one person is dead. three others were hurt during morning. it was around 1:20 local time at northern arizona university in flagstaff. two hours of phoenix. authorities say the shooting happened in a parking lot outside a dormitory on campus. afterwards, the police chief called it an incident between two students. the suspect surrendered when confronted by police. >> he stopped his action with his handgun. and everything calmed down for a few minutes. as our officer arrived, he was able to take him into custody without further trouble. >> reporter: the campus is not on lockdown right now. classes are going on as scheduled. police do not have a motive yet for the shooting. nancy chen, 7 news. >> jadiann: all right. coming up, the bruins begin the regular season at td garden. but could they beat the jets?

>> jadiann: we are following breaking news right now. a man due in court this afternoon on murder for hire charges. arrested just this morning. 's jonathan hall joins us live on the phone with more. jonathan? >> reporter: well, good afternoon. this guy has a long rap sheet. according to the f.b.i. and lexington is... lexington street is crowded with f.b.i. agents. the man is due in court at 2:30 in worcester. he will face murder for hire

charges. f allegedly, he said that he would travel to new york to kill another man and got into quite a bit of detail about exactly how he would do it. there is plenty of evidence in this case, according to the bureau and the u.s. attorney's office. earlier, our cameras did pick up on a man that was handcuffed on the street. since then, we have seen him released. he got into a car and drove away. he is not the target of the investigation. clearly, inturk already in custody. that man was held for some reason for a time and then let go. burke, again, will be in worcester court facing a magistrate for initial appearance at 2:30. the only reason it is worcester is because the magistrate is sitting there today and not in boston. he is the one that will handle this case. i'm jonathan hall, 7 news. >> jeremy: good afternoon. a lot of clouds in metro-boston. a couple of isolated showers in the merrimack valley. new hampshire seacoast,

>> jadiann: pick-up problems in more than one way for a new hampshire man. after a trip to home depot, he says the store's forklift it wasn't pretty. it left it dented and damaged. >> christa: home depot told him to file a claim. he ran into a road block, you

company. >> reporter: it was supposed to be a quick trip to home depot. >> i just finished making a purchase. i was coming home to use the material. >> reporter: wayne went to the store. all of a sudden. out of nowhere, wayne says a home depot forklift slammed into the side of his pick-up truck. >> they knocked me over. when i came back, caved that in. >> reporter: the store's manager apologized and gave him the contact information for home depot's insurance company. wayne filed a claim. >> got the estimate. sent it off. they didn't like the estimate. they wanted their own appraiser. >> reporter: that is when the wayne went back and forth with the insurance for month. on the amount of money it would take to fix his truck and get a rental. but there was also another issue. the language in this paper they wanted him to sign. >> very legal and wining contract that says once i have

will pay nothing else. >> reporter: the body shop told wayne the estimate was based on a visual inspection of the damage. but the total could go up. not wanting to pay out of his own pocket, wayne refused to sign the form unless the insurance company agreed in writing to pay for any additional damage. if they hit your truck, you want them to fix it. >> yes. simple. easy. take care of the damage. i'm not looking to make money. i just want my truck fixed. >> reporter: wayne called solve it 7. we reached out to home depot directly. and the representative told case. a few days later, wayne received a phone call from the insurance company. >> i couldn't believe how much the communication channel opened up after you gave team that call. >> reporter: a few weeks later, he got this check for more than $5,000. home depot sent us this statement. "we are very sorry for the delay and convenience... inconvenience you experienced with our claims process. we appreciate the opportunity

>> jadiann: several people hurt in a car crash at an auto auction in framingham. rescue crews raced to the scene after this shocking accident. >> christa: kelli o'hara is in >> reporter: yeah, good afternoon. it is described as confusion, then chaos, and sheer panic after at least half a dozen people were injured when a car lost control inside of the car auction earlier. it is a real horrific accident, as you can see. people kind of rushing over, trying to help some people that were pinned beneath a car. eyewitnesses tell 7 news that what ended up happening, a man was driving a bmw s.u.v. that was about to be auctioned off. he somehow lost control. some people suggested that he had some sort of medical issue. like he had a heart attack. he lost control of the car, ended up jerking forward. he hit a subaru in front of him. then he backed up and hit a cinder block wall which collapsed and injured at least a half a dozen people there.

home. jonathan hall joins us live on the phone. jonathan, what have you learned? >> reporter: well, the agents are inside right now looking for computer equipment and other evidence they might be able to use. they raided a two-family here morning. their target. a man named joe sufficient burke. believed to be in his early 50's. he and his girlfriend cooperated in a murder for hire scheme to make money. burke agreed to travel to new york. burke went into great detail about how he would shoot the targetel is times in the head. he is due in court this afternoon in worcester. to face the magistrate at 2:30. he does have a long rap.

for metro-boston, our rain is going to come from the berkshires, hudson river valley and west of there, the southern tier of new york. this weather system pivots through southern new england late this afternoon and early this evening. forecast now, it's a cool front moving through. it may generate a couple of heavy downpours. and i wouldn't be surprised if a few rumbles of thunder. i doent think this is an afternoon where we talk about severe weather. there may be a burst of steadier rainfall. unfortunately, the timing may tag some of you. during the evening commute and you notice by 8:30 tonight, the showers ending for the metro. you won't see showers show up until early this evening. windy out of the southwest. out ahead of the cool front. winds are gust gusting between 25-35 miles per hour. a warm day, though. somewhat humid as well. with the southerly wind. temps in the upper 60's. close to 70. boston, 69. worcester at 60 through the afternoon.
