and ben carson getting amajor network to cave to their demands demands. >> anchor: we start with break breaking news. lamar odom is out of a cola. the former basketball and really tv star is hospitalized in las vegas. as you might know by now, he was found unresponsive tuesday in a nevada brothel . his estranged wife chloe kardashian has been at his side. susan tran here with the latest . ryan and elizabeth all of this information coming from e on-line. the network reporting that odom actually opened his eyes today and was able to communicate. he said his first words and even gave a thumb's up to chloe kardashian who has been by his hospital bedside. now reports also say that odom is now breathing on his own. today is the first time since he was rushed to the hospital that he is showing actual signs of improvement. now we checked into the brothel last saturday and h is surveillance of him that shows him arriving at the love ranch.

fire fighters say the most likely cause was a propane torching used near. last night's fire destroyed a 3 300-year-old building on the property . >> anchor: 7 news now turning to your forecast. a cool, crisp fall afternoon. the sun out there today and we are bracing for a big temperature drop. the temperatures expected to plunge this weekend. and this morning some areas seeing severe weather. this is hail falling in wareham. meteorologist bri eggers here with a look at how cold it is going to get. bree? >> reporter: at thy interesting with severe thunderstorms not typical for this time of year but it can happen and it did happen along the south coast and also for cape cod and the islands. but we were able to clear out for the afternoon. for the most part, partly cloudy skies out there, showers staying well to the west of us. those storms push through with the first cold front. now we turn our attention to a reinforcement of that colder air air. the cold gets colder as we head into this weekend. that front looks to be dry for us and doesn't arrive until tomorrow morning.

several major highways had to be shut down because of the damage . today a cleanup operation is just getting started. let's get to ryan schulteis with a closer look at what's left behind. ryan is p storm was quick, but what was left behind was just absolutely devastating. take a look at video right here first responders say it was the most dangerous weather they have seen in some time. a day of muck covered clean cleanup. after a night of sheer panic. as mud slides in parts of southern calfornia cut off highways . it was just like a freight train coming through your house. it really was. it was loud. it was really loud . cars, tractor trailers, saying inning down the inter nightmare. always we saw was just a mountain of boulders and dirt and stuff coming right for us and it pretty much lifted my car . the storm struck with little warning as much as five inches of pounding rain in an hour for some areas and marble

upstate knock and three to the connecticut rivervilly but we don't have anything here in metrowest. we stay dry overnight tonight. another cold front charges through tomorrow morning and behind this a reinforcement of that cold air as i mentioned before, the cold just gets cold colder so we run you through the time line here with that front passing through tomorrow morning morning. a cold blast behind it. you can see some of these colors that we're all too familiar with here. the white meaning snow even that darker purple. lake effect snow expecting that and also some snow in northern new england. so as far as the snow map goes because it is worth mentioning we will be seeing it in areas surrounding the bay state but not here at home. might be some flurries if you get up to the berkshires to do some leave peeping but it will just be very picturesque and i don't think any of it is stick sticking around. cold temperatures though that forecast. tomorrow not all that bad. close to freezing for norwood. closer to 50 for boston. it's the chill that sets in

tomorrow afternoon and then just keeps dropping with the temperatures through this weekend. right around 55 for highs tomorrow, worcester a bit cooler 48 degrees, 54 for plymouth and sandwiches 55 tomorrow pretty popular number there in those mid 50's. the freeze watches on though as you can see all of the areas here shaded in purple really just it isn't going to miss any of us as we get into sunday and especially monday as those temperatures drop even farther so i don't think that this sensitive plans making it much now. pretty typical for the suburban spots but as you get into the city we're a little early for this first freeze. it is on the way though and how about these highs for sunday. yes, our high temperatures look like our lows for tomorrow morning doesn't it? upper 40's, close to 50. but this cold blast doesn't stay with us for very long into next week. we'll looking for that mild air to make a return and it does become much more seasonable. so check out that rebound there. 48 for a high on monday with a chilly breeze. tuesday back to 60. see you in a bit.
