off an amber alert overnight. woman and her infant son were found safe right here in boston. state police say the mother ran away with her son who was seriously ill. >> it was a quick-thinking nurse who helped crack the case. we are live from boston with the very latest. >> yeah. it was a nurse right here at children's hospital that noticed the child matching the description of the amber alert. then called police. around 2:00 a.m. saturday, state police activated an amber alert. a woman took off with her seriously ill two-month-old son. allegedly, ignoring directions to get the boy emergency medical care. they believe the 36-year-old suspect may have been in massachusetts after leaving wilkes-barre, pennsylvania late friday afternoon. police in pennsylvania reported the child was suffering from severe dehydration. law enforcement was looking for this car with new hampshire plates. we are told the mother had a

5-10-degree difference from where we were at 24 hours ago. the chill definitely settling in. you can see even some snow in southern vermont right now. some spot showers for the merrimack valley. now that, won't continue through the night. partly cloudy. again, very cold. we are looking at those mid-20's to mid-30's. and tomorrow, a chilly day, for sure. stuck in the 40's for most of us. how long does the cold stick around? we will get to that extended forecast in about ten minutes. >> a driver under arrest after a wild ride. police say the drunk driver drove the wrong way down route 3 in plymouth for nearly 20 miles. the troopers said they had to resort to dramatic and drastic measures to get that driver to stop. kelli o'hara live with the latest in plymouth. kelli? >> yeah. good evening, nancy. dramatic, absolutely. that is because this driver was going the wrong way on route 3 for more than 20 miles. just after midnight last night.

tell us. troopers got a plethora of 911 calls just after midnight of a driver going the wrong way at route 3. he got on exit 6 or 7. they finally stopped him before the sagamore bridge by using stop sticks. luckily, a car that that man hit no, one was hurt in it. now, troopers arrested the 26-year-old kevin palmer of plymouth. they say after the use of stop sticks, the tires blew out. eventually, he came to a stop. that is where you can see, they led him into handcuffs right there into the barracks. now, palmer is facing a lot of charges, including an oui. he is going to be in falmouth court on monday morning. to hear all those charges. again, state police breathing a sigh of relief tonight that no one was hurt. live in plymouth, kelli o'hara, 7 news. >> new at 6:00: a woman is dead after a late-night car crash in westport. this happened last night along route six. you can see the car there on its roof. witnesses say the victim was
