candidates donald trump and jeb bush. at issue, trump's controversial remarks about the 9/11 attacks and then president george w. bush. nbc national correspondent peter alexander has more on all of this. peter, good morning to you? >> hey, matt, good monday morning to you. this line of attacks has clearly infuriated jeb bush, criticized for being too passive and trump's repeated jabs for much of this campaign. this time he's all in defending his brother and taking aim at republican party's front-runner. >> this morning feud between donald trump and jeb bush is boiling over, this time a fight over bush's brother and 9/11. >> i don't want jeb bush to say my brother kept us safe because september 11th was one of the worst days in the history of this country. >> my brother responded to a crisis, and he did it as you would hope a president would do. he united the country. >> reporter: the dispute started simmering sglid when you talk about george bush, i mean, say what you want, the world trade center came down during his time.

more than a month. they have been waiting for the right moment to pounce, and take a look at this. bush is fund-raising off the fierce back and forth this morning. this is from his campaign's website enough is enough, it reads, but analysts said time going after trump is time lost and defining yourself for voters and time until the first vote is cast is running low. >> peter, thank you. >> on the democratic signs are there new signs that vice president joe biden is leading into a entry into the race? that beat this morning. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. sources close to the vice president say a decision could come any day now and most democrats agree a final answer can't come soon enough w.haven't joe biden nearing a decision, he attended mass sunday speaking out briefly to the press. although not exactly answering the question on everyone's mind.

>> the continuing mystery of joe biden. >> joe biden speculation continues. >> reporter: the vice president spent most of the weekend with family in delaware, attending his grandkids' sporting events but behind the scenes he worked the phone. 9 biggest indicator he may be getting in, a 20-minute called with harold schahtberger, the president of the international association of firefighters and a source close says he knows he can get the political pieces in place and now he just has to make a final gut decision f.biden joins the race, the union's endorsement would be a big boost from a key consequency. >> hello, firefighters. >> reporter: watching it all, democratic front-runner hillary clinton who had court the the same union but failed to lock in their support. clinton is coming off of a strong week getting a post-debate bump in the polls. over the weekend she tried to build on that momentum in alabama. >> who watched the debate on tuesday? >> reporter: meanwhile on saturday, the vice president

7:07 am
extent on the controversially over her e-mails which she's going to be questioned about as well. clinton can't afford any missteps or to lose her temper. you'll recall she did that momentarily the last time she testified. now, as for biden, he could wait to make an announcement until after she testifies, but his supporters are urging him to announce a final decision beforehand arguing he could look calculating if he waits until her testimony, and that could undercut his argument that he's running for his own reasons and not because clinton is somehow a weakened canned day. matt, savannah, back to you. >> kristen, thanks very much. if the presidential race moves forward, we want to let you know that donald trump will be joining us for a live town hall meeting with new hampshire voters. that is next monday, a week from today, right here on "today." story mention tds at top, the emergency landing at l.a.x. overnight triggered by a dispute between passengers reportedly over a reclining seat. nbc's tom costello covers aviation for us. tom, what's this one all about?

7:10 am
reinforce its operations in syria, sending in more people, sending in top level organizers like al nasser and that his death could be a blow to efforts by damage to reinforce the operations in syria. there is, however, another way to look at this. there is something of a rivalry going on right now with both the u.s. and russia carrying out air strikes against isis operatives in syria, against al qaeda operatives in syria, and this time this weekend u.s. officials say it was us, not moscow, that killed this senior al qaeda leader in syria. matt, savannah, back to you. >> richard engel on this story, thanks very much. here at home millions are waking up to the coldest temperatures of the season foe far. i knew it was cold when matt wore a snuggie into the studio this morning. >> oh, my. that's a real treat we all wait for. i've got to show you some weather video we've got in as snow in upstate new york.

it's a dangerous scenario every year on halloween. >> trick or treat. >> kids walking the streets in all kinds of costumes. in fact, kids are twice as likely to get head by a car on october 31st than any other day of the year. now safety experts are warning about the latest costume craze, e invisible kid costume, a full black body suit that even covers the child's face. multiple companies make it. the packaging evening warning about impaired vision but some bragging it will make your child disappear into the pitch black night. as a safety expert, what do you make of this? >> terrible idea. kids won't be seen, especially if they are darting out into the street on halloween night, we can expect, that and they can't see. take a look at this. there's no way for kids to see out of this. >> i want to show our viewers what it looks like. put this right over the lens. this is what the killed sees out trick-or-treating. absolutely blake.
7:44 am
you can't see them at driver and they can't see you either. >> bad idea. >> reporter: so we set up an experiment. i'm behind the wheel with our safety expert. my producer is dressing this child mannequin in the black body suit. >> we're in a typical suburban neighborhood and i'm placing this mannequin right in the middle of the street. can you see it right now with the camera light off but turn the light off and the kit blends right into the night and we'll see if jeff can spot this before it's too late. we know the mannequins are here but don't know where they are. >> kids who are younger than 10 don't understand speed and distance so they don't understand when cars are coming at them how fast or how close they are. >> we keep driving and out of nowhere. >> right there, jeff. >> i still don't see it. >> i know. it's really hard, almost impossible. >> oh, it's right here. watch again from a different angle. you can't seat mannequin until right there and by then you can't stop.
7:45 am
a second later i would have hit this child. >> this would not be a static child, a mannequin. this would be a kid running in the dark like this. you probably could have hit this child. what was it like to be in the car witnessing this? >> completely scary. >> reporter: by the way, the body suit comes in brighter colors too. it's halloween, we want kids to dress up however they want to dress up. here's a solution no matter what they wear. safety experts say you should wear these. put your kids in the glow in the dark brace letz and the glow in the dark necklaces. that way no matter what they are wearing drivers will be able to see them as they come down the road and keep your kids safe. bring the lights back you. seems like the dumbest idea possible. >> worst costume idea. >> and have glow sticks not just costume. >> jeff, thanks very much. coming up, are you getting your tickets? why this is a very big day for
