7's nicole oliverio live at the cheerleading gym. >> reporter: according to the district attorney's office, there were at least two incidents of alleged aggravated rape. apparently nicholas johnson, who is no longer employed here at full house cheerleading gymnastics was an employee here. he had been here for about a year. according to the district attorney's office, he was fired last week. now, this all came to light when the victim's parents went to police to say their daughter reported being sexually assaulted and one occasion happening off of gym property. police approached nicholas johnson, 26 years old, of brockton. he was later arrested and arraigned in brkton district court on monday. he's facing several charges, including aggravated rape of a child, enticing a child under the age of 16. right now johnson is being held on $50,000 cash bail. if he makes that bail, he is told to stay away from all children under the age of 16, to stay away from the victim. he can't come back here to the full house cheerleading gym in west bridgewater.

and he'll also have to be on a gps ankle bracelet. for now, that's the latest live in west bridgewater, nicole oliverio, 7news. >> anchor: and a developing story on the south shore. plymouth police investigating a hit-and-run. a man riding a bike was hit just after 10:00 last night on carver road. he has serious injuries but is recovering in the hospital. police do not have a description of the car or driver who left the scene. >> anchor: also on 7, a doctor at the umass medical school off the job today, accused of taking pictures of a woman in a bathroom. let's head out live to worcester. here's 7's victoria warren. >> reporter: hey, crista, the school tells us right now this doctor is not eventual allowed on campus. a court magistrate has ruled that this doctor will face criminal charges. a cardiologist accused of creeping enter a woman's restroom to take a picture of a woman using the bathroom. it all happened on the fourth floor at umass medical school. the woman says she looked up in

the stall to see someone's knuckles and a cell phone camera lens. court paperwork says the woman ran out, confronting the doctor as he was going into a men's room. the doctor, who is also a professor, said he accidentally walked into the wrong bathroom while using his phone. according to the paperwork, the doctor said he was offended at what she was accusing him of saying, "you have no idea who i am, and if you did, you wouldn't be doing this." there's a no dress passing sign up at his home, but in a signed statement to police, he said he felt there were racial overtone, saying he was willing to show her his phone until she further implied there was some strange her. police did get an opportunity to look at the cell phone, and they say they did not find any pictures on it, but according to the court paperwork, they have a search warrant to further search the phone to see if any images were deleted. the doctor is on paid

and he has a court date in december. live in worcester, victoria warren, 7news. >> anchor: thank you, vick kim security stepped up today at bridgewater state university in response to an alarming attack on a student there. police released a sketch of the alleged attacker. the 18-year-old student says she was sexually assaulted by man she met on a social networking app where people can stay anonymous. she agreed to meet him on campus. students at bridgewater state say they're being extra careful. >> up until now it felt like really safe, like even walking across campus with other people, like i felt fine. but after this happened, it's kind of... i'm a little more hesitant. >> reporter: anyone with information on this alleged attack is asked to please call police. >> anchor: we'll go to a developing story with ties to maine. police say a mother missing from that state has been spotted in westford. police say 34-year-old sarah mead may have been taken against her will, and they also believe she's with her five-year-old son. police say her car was spotted

around 9:00 last night, and she's driving a 1999 blue volvo with a maine license plate and a tag is on your screen, 163 7sz. if you see mead her or car, police are asking you contact them. also the girlfriend of the hardwick man accused of abusing his young son in court today. 22-year-old alexander chadwick pleading not guilty to charges connected to the this case. prosecutors say seven-year-old jack was starved and beaten inside of their home. the little boy is now being treated at a long-term care facility. >> anchor: a desperate search is under way to find a pair of robbers on the run. the husband and wife from quincy are suspected of robbing banks in several states, including one in massachusetts. 7's nick emmons reports on what's being done the find them before they may strike again. > just for the public, we encourage if they do recognize these individuals, use extreme caution. >> reporter: police are on the hunt for a couple from quincy.

clyde. >> reporter: the pair wanted coast. > at this time we consider them to be highly dangerous. >> reporter: investigators say joseph carrier and his wife jenny hit a bank in maryland last friday. before that investigators say the couple was in florida holding up a wells fargo bank. a couple weeks earlier, police in ludlow say joseph carrier robbed a bank on center street. investigators say carrier told the teller he had a gun and demanded large bills. in most of the robbery, police say it appears a woman was driving the getaway car. investigators think it's jenny. they're looking for a dark-colored buick encore like this one with a par, massachusetts plate number 265s. >> at this point we don't know if there are other bank robberies that have occurred in other jurisdictions. by reaching out to our media partner, part of this is to get the face out there and maybe investigators from other jurisdictions can tie in other related robberies, maybe not just bank robberies, but

not the brightest of afternoons, not a complete washout. but again, rain dancing across southern new england. most towns less than one-tenth of an inch of rain. temps this afternoon near 60. >> anchor: 7news has more news today. a u.s. marine corps pilot killed after his f-18 jet crashed. the f-18 went down after taking off from a u.s. military base around 70 miles northeast of london. the aircraft crashed into a farm area about ten miles away from the base. no one on the ground was injured at the time of that crash. also a new york city police officer killed in the line of duty. flags across new york state ordered to be flown at half-staff to honor the fallen officer. 33-year-old randolph holier was killed during an exchange of gunfire with an armed suspect. the five-year veteran of the force was shot in the head. he was pronounced dead shortly after he arrived at the hospital in critical condition. he was also native of guyana where his father and grandfather

officer holder was trying the chase down an armed man suspected of stealing a bike, and that is when the gun battle broke out. the suspect who has not been identified was caught several blocks away with a gunshot wound to his leg. holder meantime is one of handful of new york city police officers killed in the past 11 months alone. >> we're mourning man who gave his life as a guardian for all of us, and we're humbled by officer randolph holder's example, an example of service and courage and sacrifice. >> reporter: the police commissioner says the suspect is expected to be released from the hospital later on today and then transferred to police custody. >> anchor: a developing story on capitol hill, wisconsin representative paul ryan says he will run for speaker of the house, but only on his terms. ryan says he will run if republicans agree to unite and the major caucuses endorse him. the former vice presidential nominee had originally turned down the job, but now he plans to take on the challenge.

into the worcester hills, approaching the city of worcester itself. so this will slide east-southeast, probably end up on the south shore within an hour or so. and there are more showers all the way back into new york state. it is a front. it's the dividing line between cool air which is trying to come out of northern new england into our part of the world and warmer air to our south. these fronts, they are great at producing clouds and showers. this front in particular is beginning to weaken. so that's why i think the showers, they will be scattered in nature, and, you notice, as we move through the time line here, that the showers begin to fade away and fall apart, so i think after 3:00, maybe a sprinkle, but otherwise a lot of clouds. temps at this time, north of that front low to middle 50s, beverly 55, but then you head south of the front, upper 60s, new bedford close to 70. providence also 69. the city of austin 57. so it will be coolest up north up across southern new hampshire, mid-50s. even metro boston mid-50s. further south numbers in the low to mid-60s.

i know from previous experience that there is no timetable for this process. the process doesn't respect or much care about things like filing deadlines or debates and pray maris and caucuses, but i also know that i could do this if -- i couldn't do this if the family wasn't ready. the good news is the family has reached that point, but as i've said many times, my family have suffered loss, and i hope there would come a time, and i've said this to many other families, that sooner rather than later when you think of your loved one, it brings a smile to your lips before it brings a tear to your eyes. well, that's where the bidens are today, thank god. beau is our inspiration,

unfortunately, i think we're out of time, the time necessary to mount a winning campaign for the nomination. but while i will not be a candidate,ly not be silenced. i intend to speak out clearly and forcefully to influence as much as i can where we stand as a party and where we need to go as a nation. and this is what i believe: i believe that president obama has led this nation from crisis to recovery, and we're now on the cusp of resurgence. i'm proud to have played a part in that. this party, our nation, will be making a tragic mistake if we walk away or attempt to undo the obama legacy. the american people have worked too hard, and we've come too far for that. democrats should not only defend

record, they should run on the record. we've got a lot of work to get done over the next 15 months. and there's a lot that the president will have to get done, but let me be clear that we'll be building on a really solid foundation. but it all starts with giving the middle class a fighting chance. i know people love to call me middle class joe. i know in washington that's not meant as a comp limit. it means you're not that sophisticated. it just just a matter of fairness and economic growth. it's a matter of social stability for this nation. we cannot sustain the current levels of inequality that exist in this country. i believe the huge sums of unlimited and often secret money pouring into our politics is a

fundamental threat to our that. i think it's a fundamental threat. because the middle class will never have a fighting chance in this country as long as just several hundred families, the process. it's just that simple. i believe we have to level the playing field for the american people. that's going the take access to education and opportunity to work. we need to commitment. we're fighting for 14 years. we need to commitment to 16 years of free public education for all our children. we all know that 12 years of public education is not enough. as a nation, let's make the same commitment to a college education today that we made in high school education 100 years ago. children and childcare is the one biggest barrier for working families.

we need as the president proposed to triple the childcare tax credit. that alone will lead to dramatic increase in the number of women able to be in the workforce and standards. this. how do you pay for this? there are many equitable ways to pay for this. we can pay for all of this with one simple step: by limiting the deductions in the tax code to 28% of income. wealthy folks will end up paying a little bit more, but it's my guess, and i mean this sincerely, it's my guess they'll be happy to help build a stronger economy and a better educated america. i believe we need to lead more by the power of our example, as the president has, than merely by the example of our power. we have learned some very hard lessons for more than a decade of large-scale, open-ended military invasions. we have to accept the fact that

we can't solve all the world's problems. we can't solve many of them alone. the argument that we just have to do something when bad people do bad things isn't good enough. it's not a good enough reason for american intervention and to put our sons and daughters lives on the line, put them at risk. i believe we have to end thedy viive partisan politics that is ripping this country apart. and i think we can. it's mean spirited. it's petty. and it's gone on for much too long. i don't believe, like some do, republicans. i don't think we should look at republicans as our enemy. they are opposition. they're not our enemies. and for the sake of the country, we have to work together. as the president said many time, compromise is not a dirty word.

how does this country function without con accept suss? how can we move forward without consensus? four more years of this kind of pitched battle may be more than this country can take. we have to change it. we have to change it. i believe we need a moon shot in it's personal. i know we can do this. the president and i have been working hard on research and development because there are so many breakthroughs on the horizon in science and medicine, the things that are just about to happen. and we can make them real with aning absolute national commitment to end cancer. as we know it today. and i'm going to spend the next 15 months in this office pushing

as hard as i can to accomplish this, because i know there are democrats and republicans on the hill who share our passion to silence this deadly disease. if i could be anything, i would have want it to be the president that ended cancer because it is possible. i also believe we need the keep moving forward in the arc of this nation toward justice. the rights of the lgbt community, immigration reform, equal pay for women and protecting their safety from violence, rooting out institutional racism, at their core, every one of these things, every one of these things is about the same thing. it's about equality. it's about fairness. it's about respect. as my dad used to say, it's about affording every single person dignity.

every single one of these issues is about dignity. and the ugly forces of hate and division won't let up, but they do not represent america. they do not represent the heart of this country. they represent a small fraction of the political elite. and the next can president will have to take it on. most of all, i believe there are unlimited possibilities for this country. i don't know how many of the white house staff have heard me say repeatedly, we are so much better positioned than anyone else in the world. i've been doing this a long time. when i got elected as a 21-year-old kid, i was called an optimist. i am more optimistic about the possibilities, the incredible possibilities to leap forward than i have been at any time in my career, and i believe to my core that there's no country on

the face of the earth better positioned to lead the world in the 21st century than the united states of america. washington, though, just has to begin to function gun. instead of being a problem, it has to become part of the solution again. it has to be one america again. and at our core, i've always believed that what sets america apart from every other nation is that we, ordinary americans, believe in possibilities, unlimited possibilities. the possibilities of a kid growing up in a poor neighborhood, the possibility of speaking alone. a kid like jill and i, to be able to be anything we wanted to be, to do anything, anything,

that we want. that's what we're both taught. that's what the president was taught. it was real. that's what i grew up believing. and, you know, it's always been true in this country. and if we ever lose that, we've lost something very special. we'll have lost the very soul of this country. when i was growing up, my parents in tough times looked at me and would say to me and my brothers and sister, honey, it's going to be okay. they meant it. it's going to be okay. someone said go back to your old neighborhood, they successful. there are too many people in america, too many parents, who don't believe they can look

with certitude, honey, it's going to be okay. that's what we need the change. it's not complicated. that will be the true measure of our success. and we'll not have met it until every parent out there can look at their kid in tough times and say, honey, it's going to be okay. and mean it. that's our responsibility. and i believe it's totally within our power, the nation has done it before in difficult times. i've had the very great good fortune and privilege of being in public service most of my adult life, since i've been 25 years old. and through personal triumphs and tragedies, my entire family, my son beau, my son hunter, my daughter ashley, jill, our whole family, and this sounds corny,

we found purpose in public life. so we intend, the whole family, not just me, we intend to spend the next 15 months fighting for what we've always cared about, what my family has always cared about, with every ounce of our being, and working alongside the president and members of congress, and our future nominee, i am absolutely certain we are fully capable of accomplishing extraordinary things. we can do this. and when we do, america won't just win the future. we will own the finish line. thank you for all being so gracious to jill and me, for the last six or eight months and for our whole career for that matter. but i'm telling you, we can do so much more. and i'm looking forward to continuing to work with this man

thank you very much. >> anchor: there in the rose garden vice president joe biden making the announcement we have anticipated for so long, whether he was going to be in or out in the race for the white house. the word that came down today is he is out, he will not be running for president. he spoke very directly and from the heart. he talked about family losses and how it's taken his family so much time to get to the point where they can smile about their son beau who passed away back in may. that was one of his wish, that his father run for president, but he said he did not have the time to mount a successful campaign for the presidency, but he also said he wouldn't be silence on the sidelines either. >> anchor: that's right. he was flanked by the president and by his wife. he even said, and i quote, "beau is our inspiration. this has been a three-month-long decision. he will be on the sidelines, but

>> anchor: we're back with new details on controversy surrounded boston-based draft kings. attorney general maura healy says she will not shut down fantasy sports web sites in massachusetts. according to the "globe," healy is still reviewing the industry. in fact, last week we reported that the state of nevada banned fantasy sports after officials ruled it was gambling and that it should be regulated. >> anchor: a milford, new hampshire, man will face gun trafficking charges in court. tewksbury police arrested 29-year-old john miller on monday. miller is accused of trying to sell an assault rifle, shotgun and 300 rounds of ammunition to an undercover atf agent. police say he also tried to illegally sell weapons and at least one other location in massachusetts. nantucket. police arrested 35-year-old

david matterson tuesday. they say he's a suspect in two case, one from 2008 and another last year. matterson is also facing kidnapping charges. >> anchor: a lowell man accused of attacking and injuring police officers facing a judge. 38-year-old jesus ozakio appeared in court yesterday. a judge ordered him to undergoing a mental health evaluation. he'll be due back in court next month. witnesses say this violent attack happened monday night when ozakio smashed the side window of a van. things got worse when police arrived. he fought officers, even throwing one of them dunne a flight of stairs. we'll be right back after this short break with more of 7news to come.

>> anchor: it's been 20 years since boston university hockey player travis roy slammed head-first into the boards, paralyzing him from the neck down. this happened 11 seconds into his first college hockey game. >> anchor: those 11 seconds have defined him, but not for what he can't do, but for everything he's been able to accomplish. dan hausle has more on an honor for roy. >> reporter: it's a heartbreaking moment to look back on, promising b.u. hockey player travis roy crashing into the boards on his first shift, paralyzed from the neck down. >> hey, guys. >> reporter: now travis is marking the anniversary of that date in a way he couldn't

imagine even five years ago. >> 20 years later we've raised a lot of money and helped out a lot of individuals through our grants and funded a lot of research. there's just a lot of good that's happened. >> reporter: travis invited young hockey players to join him for the debut of an espn documentary on his life. the mayor has declared this travis roy day and the bruins signed travis to a one-day contract. former b.u. coach jack parker recruited travis and saw great things in him. >> reporter: i truly bereave he would be successful no matter what. his hockey career would have been terrific, but he's found another career. >> reporter: now travis is a motivational speaker and his foundation has raised more than $7 million to help others who are paralyzed. dan ronan is on the ice with travis when he's been hurt. >> what he's been able to do over these past 20 years and where we've been able to bring the foundation is a testament to where he was. >> reporter: travis roy's greatest disappointment is there has been little success finding a cure for paralysis. his greatest hope in the next 20

in temps. temps basically mid-50s to the low 60s. warmest again south of the mass pike. for tonight, a lot of clouds. a few sprinkles, lows 45 to 50. tomorrow still lingering clouds. and still the risk of a few showers i think tomorrow afternoon more so than tomorrow morning. kind of the opposite of today. it is milder tomorrow with temps expected to reach the lower 70s. normal high is 60. boston tomorrow 71. norwood 71, as well. worcester at 67. reason for the showers tomorrow afternoon, a cool front. that will give a nice shove to all these clouds and the shower threat out to sea. so we have a lot of sunshine coming at us on friday. and it will be a little cooler despite that sun. temps on friday into the mid-50s. much the same on saturday. saturday will be the brighter of the two weekend days. sunday is not least to rain, but i think a couple showers sunday morning. we can get them out of there in time for the patriots-jets game at 1:00 at gillette.
