is straight ahead. i'm adam williams difference i'm kim khazei. >> breaking news, now at 5:30 police on the scene of a stabbing outside after t. stop at jamaica plain. at least one person with life threatening injuries. >> then vandalism in east bridgewater. a children's soccer field destroyed. the clues police are using to track down the suspect. >> plus an elderly veteran under attack. what police say led up to this scuffle. >> college for free, connecticut asking the federal government to fund education for prisoners using taxpayer money. >> announcer: 7 news at 5:30 starts now. >> breaking news, a person stabbed in jamaica brain. the victim has life threatening injuries. >> the accidents happened inside the jackson square mbta station, what can you tell us. >> reporter: they've just reopened the t. stop. it had been shut down for hours.

the entire station was for a time surrounded in police tape as officers were here investigating the afternoon stabbing, but things are starting to get back to normal. i want to show you what it looked like a short time ago. the stabbing happened around 3:20, boston police tell us two teenagers probably around 17 got no a fight inside the t. stop station. that was just out of the view of cameras. apparently one of the teenagers was stabbed at least once in the chest. he was taken to the hospital with what police describe as life-threatening injuries. the suspect hasn't been arrested. police were here for a short time. they did not recover any weapon but they say that the two people involved in the fight are equaintances -- acquaintances. >> apparently the two knew each other. it was a fight. it was off camera but the individual came back in view of the camera he lifted up

that the is what he fled at one end. end. >> reporter: you heard police mention the video from inside the t. stop. apparently they do have some video of the suspect after the fight happened when he ran away. that hasn't been released. him. they're not sure if he lives in the area but in arrests have been made. no maims have been released saying one 17-year-old victim was rushed to hospital with serious life-threatening injuries. about red soxing abouter cancer. this situation. good news here. >> reporter: it is, the sox just announcing that manager john farrell's cancer is in remission and he will return to the team. he had been diagnosed with lymphoma, he sat out the rest of the season. today the sox announcing

remission, in a statement farrell said this: >> reporter: new team president david dombroski said the team is very happy to have farrell back and hope that his family can move forward. in the newsroom, i'm adam williams, 7 news. >> also on 7 police using key clues to help them track down vandals in east bridgewater. a kid's conger field was significantly damaged over the weekend. >> the suspects deliberately caused thousands of dollars of damage there. john cuoco has more on the evidence they collected. >> reporter: soccer practice just started here. the problem is before we could get to the point d.p.w.crew has to fix all this first. >> people should feel free to come up here and enjoy the fields any time they want.

>> reporter: but this is not what they mean. >> it was heart breaking. >> reporter: police trying to find whoever sped on to these soccer fields causing thousands of dollars of damage shredding the green grass, leaving deep tire marks. it all happened saturday night just off belmont street. >> it was a little worse than i was expecting i think. >> reporter: bill dowling is a town selectmen and treasurer of the youth soccer association. he says this has happened before but never as bad as this. police called him sunday morning when the tracks were first spotted. >> there were probably maybe 8, 10-inch ruts in the middle of the field. they drove through all three fields. fields weren't playable. >> reporter: d.p.w.crews are fixed it up but not before the sheriff's department took pictures ever the scene as well as the fire marks left by the driver. it's disappointing for dowling and others who donate their time and money to keep the complex in shape for the hundreds of children that use it every week. >> i think at this point

we're going to look into putting up barriers, you know, installing additional cameras and lighting to make sure it doesn't happen again. >> reporter: security cameras did catch owl of this but police say they're not ready to release video just yet. john cuoco, 7 news. >> the pennsylvania mother who trigger and amber alert by bringing her son to a boston hospital has been released from custody. tiffany cherry appeared in court. the amber alert was issued on saturday when the mother failed to bring her two-month-old son to a hospital in pennsylvania. a judge released here but she is due back in court in december. police arrest a suspect in an armed robbery in could be cord, new hampshire. -- conconcorde, new hampshire. investigators recognized him after seeing surveillance video of the incident and track him down. >> a shattered statue outside of the ronald mcdonald house in vermont.

the tragic part of this case is that we can't get corey's version. >> his familiar hi said this is in the a black lives matter issue and supporters of the family have peacefully protested outside of the courthouse. >> police in mexico have arrested sick people accused of helping the -- six people accused of helping el chapo escape from prison. his brother-in-law is one of the six people now facing charges. gusman broke out of prison in july. fugitive. dozens of people in gusman's home region are protesting what they're calling abuse by the country's navy. they say the navy has conducted violent raids in guzman. people say the raids have been so bad many people have even left the area. >> a terrifying moment cause on camera. video shows an elderly military veteran attacked. police say it was over money. they're still trying to

track down the suspect. for vicar a trip to an auto zone turned into a nightmare. >> i never knew anything was wrong until i -- started coming up to me. >> reporter: victor found out something was young. >> she asked me for the wallet. i said, no way. i'm not going to give you that. >> reporter: the video shows it all. walking through the parking lot victor is approached by a woman demanding his wallet. he refuses. the woman begins attacking him. the woman who was taller and larger continues the struggle. >> keep the girl away from me. i didn't want to hit her or punch her. i didn't want to do none of that. >> reporter: the struggle lasted for a few minutes. outside then escalated inside the store. >> screaming for help moor us to call the cops. she tried to steal his wall. jose called the cops but the fight continues. >> he gets away. >> reporter: sargent hudson says the woman won't dawn. >> she assaults this i would early man trying to take his

>> some think the plan is a good idea. others argue it gives prisoners a privilege unaccessible to other citizens. you might have a hard time keeping pace. they've one thing in common, hectic lives. >> i work two full time jobs and go to school full time. >> i am a construction worker and you go to school. i don't have much time for anything else. >> reporter: students we spoke with have different opinions about a new proposal from the connecticut state colleges and university system that would you a lou inmates to take community college courses for free. >> everybody makes mass takes and like i said education is for everybody. everybody needs to have a fair, everybody should be able to have education. >> i do think it's a good thing for people to get a higher education: i don't personally feel as though i should be, have another tax added on. >> c.s.c.u.leaders are asking the federal government to pay for the program.

a young man with life threatening injuries after this attack near the jackson square station. >> police are trying to figure out what happened. tim caputo is live with breaking details. >> reporter: we can tell you that the t. station has reopened. it was shut down for about two hours as police had the yellow crime scene tape wrapped around the station. a 17-year-old was stabbed around 3:20 this afternoon, taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. i can tell you things are about back to normal but at this point, no arrests rather have been made in this case. police say this all started between two teenagers who apparently got in a fight t. station. one of the men apparently pulled a knife on the other chest. he was able to get away but collapsed on to the ground. police and e. m. s. arrived to the scene. they took the 17-year-old to the hospital.
