which a man shaves in the morning is well worth recording. >> this is 7 news at noon. >> breaking news out of oxford. police on the scene of a deadly sdend. two people are killed and several others seriously injured when a cement truck collides with a car. and then veers into another vehicle. you can see the truck there flips on its side and wreckage scattered all over the road there. >> some important information for you. right now, route 20 is shut down in both directions.

steve cooper live on the phone now with more on the breaking details. >> reporter: all right. the vantage point here along route 20 in oxford. this is at the charlton line. state police now confirming that two people have been killed in this serious crash. they say the a cement truck and another car crashed head-on this morning at 8:30. two people in the car, we now know, were killed. a third person has been injured. state police also telling us at this hour a truck driver was taken to the hospital. according to the state police and a third vehicle, an s.u.v., have been taken to the hospital as well. no ages. no identifications of any of anyone injured here. we do know that this was a two lives here. this is on route 20. it happened this morning at 8:30. there is also a problem at the scene with debris scattered all over the place. the truck itself, cement all

over the road now. both directions on route 20 have been shut down for several hours. state police say it will remain that way as the investigation continues here into the cause of this double fatal here this morning. we are live from ox this afternoon, steve cooper, 7 news. aeng... >> anchor: in peabody, a 17-year-old high school student was killed when his car slammed into a pole. this happened late last night. officials from malden catholic identifying the victim as a senior. the school is offering grief counseling now. >> anchor: bridgewater state police arrest a suspect in a sexual assault. the female student reported the assault on saturday. the man accused a 20-year-old from milton, is also a bridgewater state student and is known to the victim. according to authorities. he is being charged with intimidation of a witness and is held without bail also. >> anchor: school officials making children stay in place at the carver elementary school while they search the

school grounds. a teacher reported seeing a stranger in the building. no one was found. things did get back to normal quickly. >> anchor: a woman pulls the trigger and kills her own uncle. the crime has a hyde park family searching for answers now. we have reaction from the victim's wife. >> reporter: well, there are many family members here at the courthouse. as you can imagine, they are absolutely devastated. they had no idea what happened over the weekend. they are hoping they can get some answers as at the suspect's arraignment today. >> reporter: the family of clyde fran snis deep pain. instead of planning a surprise be planning a funeral. >> it is so devastating. i was just waiting for him. i'm calling him.

francis' niece yvonne lewis, a former boston police dispatcher shot her uncle in the head, killing him. francis' wife says their son was there when it happened. >> i don't understand. they were so, so close. why would you do something like this? >> reporter: lewis' father stuck in the middle. >> i don't know. i don't know. some people don't like to hear the truth. >> reporter: now a family torn apart, walking into court looking for answers. the francises would have celebrated their wedding anniversary thursday. >> my husband was a very devoted husband, father,

grandfather. he was just such a sweet, sweet person. >> reporter: tracy lewis says yvonne recently moved back to boston after living in atlanta, and a number of relatives say that when they saw her, they thought something was wrong. lewis' arraignment, again, scheduled to take place right here in west roxbury district court in a few minutes. i'm byron barnett, 7 news. >> anchor: police searching for the driver in a deadly hit-and-run in saugus. they say the driver of a red vehicle hate pedestrian on route one late last night. that victim, a 3-year-old man from new york, later died. >> anchor: 7 news turning to your weather now. a lot of sunshine today. don't be fooled. you are still going to need that coat, for sure. chilly start to the week. we have that fall weather in full force right now. we have meteorologist jeremy reiner standing by with a look at the forecast.

held on $1 million bail. the man accused of a robbery near fenway park is arraigned today. this dorchester man had a knife when he attacked and robbed a woman in an alley early sunday morning. that woman says the man pushed her to the ground. she was able to fight him off and get away. police later arrested that suspect. >> jadiann: the race for the white house is in full swing. donald trump and ben carson locked in a heated battle for the top spot among republicans. this morning, trump held a town hall meeting in atkinson, new hampshire. >> we are going to have so many wins, they will be pouring out of your ears. you are going to say "mr. president, let's have a loss. this is getting boring." and i will say no, i won't do that. >> reporter: donald trump at an earl ideal-morning rally in new hampshire. unphased by a poll that puts him behind ben carson. >> you will find out about the media, some day, folks. they are the worst. >> he is the best thing for

video, is is a total loss. jonathan hall with the very latest. jonathan? >> reporter: good afternoon. the 52-year-old home obstruction of justicer definitely could have been killed when this house exploded. we will zoom. in you can see the rubble. hard to tell that was once a 1900-square-foot two-story house with shingles on the side. a lot of damage. nothing much left. fast neighbor says... the home owner says she was upstairs in her bedroom when the house exploded. and it was accidental. an inferno in taunton caused by a do it yourself home obstruction of justicer trying to fix a hot water heater. that is according to the state fire marshal's office today. investigators said the woman who managed to escape this fire removed a gas shutoff valve which allowed gas to collect in the basement. neighbors say about 4:00 p.m. sunday, they heard the blast. . >> what we heard was a big, like, boom. it sounded like a car had crashed. >> reporter: the home owner ran out with just seconds to spare. >> she was kind of in a daze.

the phone with more on what's going on on the scene. right, jadiann. this is at the charlton line afternoon. call came in this morning at 8:30. it is confirmed as a double fatal crash. state police say a cement truck and another car crashed head-on this morning. two people in that car were killed. pronounced dead at the scene. a third person has been taken to the hospital. we also know the driver of the cement truck was taken to the hospital as well. we don't know his condition. and two people and a third vehicle... in a third vehicle were hospitalized as well. no ages or identify kags are made available by the state police. this is still an active scene here. the area remains sealed off. traffic is all shut down, as you mentioned. traffic is being diverted around the crash scene here. but again, at this hour, we can confirm, according to state police that, two people

traffic stop friday night. he managed to slip out of handcuffs, get out of the cruiser and run away. he now faces additional charges. >> anchor: is mother who sparked a multi-state amber alert was back in court today to regain custody of her children. tiffany cherry born and raised near boston, says when a nurse at a clinic near her current home in pennsylvania told her that her son needed to be admitted to the hospital, she decided instead to make a five-hour drive to boston cherry says the clinic called police and an amber alert was issued. boston police arrested cherry boston children's. >> my children had been receiving sub-standard health care, at best. i'm tired of it. i would never imagine this could happen in america. in 2015. i have a right to seek the best care for my children. i have a right to that. >> anchor: there was no decision made in court today. another hearing over the custody of her children has been scheduled for two weeks. cherry has dealt with tragedy

in 2009. she says that's part of the reason why she decided to take her son to boston children's hospital. >> jadiann: more news today. the n.t.s.b. will be back in worcester to investigate what caused a deadly plane crash there. state police say the single-engine plane crashed shortly after taking off saturday morning. the pilot, a 66-year-old gary connecticut was killed in the crash. >> anchor: everyone is expected to be okay following a scary crash in canton. a car slamming into the front of a dunkin' donuts. crews removed that car from the washington street building sunday evening. the crash happened in the police believe the driver accidentally hit the accelerator when she meant to hit the brake. to the hospital. they were not seriously hurt. didn't get hurt. it would be horrifying. it would be a horror show. >> luckily, there weren't lot. there weren't pedestrians walking across the sidewalk.

forecast >> anchor: officers are still investigating the accident. >> anchor: a developing story in canada we have been following all morning long. a whale-watching tour boat onboard. authorities say it is still unclear why that vessel sank. people have died and one person is still missing. this was the ship as it went down. island. a chilling sight as witnesses say when they first reached

everywhere. 27 were aboard on a whale-watching expedition when the call came in at 4:00 p.m. >> all the boats out on the water were heading out to start looking for survivors. >> reporter: the triple-decker cruiser seen in this promotional video is operated by jamie's whaling station in british columbia. the boat went out in pristine condition. a fleet of volunteers on the water and in the air launched the rescue. pulled from the water. ambulances rushing at least 18 to the hospital. it is unclear why the ship went down. sinking nine miles off the coast. the tour boat was near vargas islands where there are jagged rocks and dangerous reefs. in a statement, the company owner says, "it has been a tragic day. our entire team is heart-broken over this incident. our hearts go out to the families, friends, and loved ones of everyone involved." it is not the first time

tragedy has struck. in 1998, two were killed when the same company had a smaller vessel capsize, but in this area, popular with tourists, there has never been a tragedy like this. a day off the coast ending with a tour boat underwater. the injured passengers are now liued in serious or stable condition. though many of them have been discharged already. >> jadiann: police are searching for the gunman who shot a studenten to campus of north carolina central university. the university issued an emergency alert when... with an active shooter last night. the student was taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay. a lockdown was later lifted just before midnight. a mother and son are deld after a murder-sigh side... suicide in new jersey inside a nursing home. a man shot and killed his room last night. he then turned the gun on himself. no one heard any yelling or arguments before the shooting.
