11:01 pm
>>reporter: yeah, adam, here's what we know at this point. we understand the police had to get on to the plane and pull this man off of this airplane after passengers overheard that he had a bomb in his bag. the flight was united 439. it was supposed to leave at 6:00 p.m. he was arrested for making a false bomb threat. the flight was delayed about 50 minutes and united confirmed all this information but they wouldn't say much more than that. that suspect was booked here at the state police at the airport. he will be arraigned tomorrow. also tonight, rain clouds are storming in to new england. right now, rain and wind, we are talking downpours. not just wind but really strong wind. >> the kind that turns your umbrella inside out. how long does the rain stick around?
11:02 pm
a head ache in the morning ride. it lasts through the morning and tapers off quickly right after 9:00 or 10:00 but we're going to hours. there's a little bit of a lull in boston right now. north and south shore. see, there's not much rain around us. but just to the west to wilster, this is intense rain. we might even see a thunder storm sprout out of that rain and we're more confident with storms in the morning. this is going to slow you down. if you're commuting between 5-7:00 in the morning, you might run into a thunder storm on the road. a good swamp of it coming in. just like a summer time thunder storm, once it passes, the sun is out, the winds relax and the warmth is with us. the temperatures will soar. there might be one last band of
11:03 pm
beware tailgaters and just enough of a sprinkle leftover just before the game. wind gusts already to 40 miles an hour and there's more where that came from, too. look at these wind gusts down to fair haven over fall river, 50 plus miles an hour. that's a sign of things to come. we'll have more in a bit as the wet weather passes through overnight, you can wake up with jeremy tomorrow morning. the morning crew gets started at 5:00 a.m. a tree comes crashing down damaging a home and a number of cars. crews plan to work through the night to remove that tree. there you see one of the cars damaged. the home owner says the tree damaged his roof and destroyed onef their cars but no one was hurt >>man: you can campaign or just
11:04 pm
the gop contenders battle it out in the race for the white house this was the third debate between the top contenders in the gop and we saw intense moments tonight. they went after the moderators. >>reporter: this debate was supposed to be focused on the economy but we saw a lot of fire works doesn't. ted cruise and many of the candidates did not like the questions. >>man: i'm wearing a trump tie tonight. get over that one. okay? >>reporter: mike bringing attention to donald trump stopping just short of endorsing him. >>man: twice on sunday rather than hilary. i've spent a lifetime in politics fighting the clinton machine >>reporter: a much more reserved donald trump took a back seat. bush called on rubio to resign saying he wasn't spending enough time in washington >>man: when you signed up for this, this was a six year term
11:05 pm
work. it's like a french workweek, you have three days to show up. >>man: the only reason why you're doing it now is because we're running for the same position and someone convinced you that attacking me is going to help you. my campaign is going to be about the future of the america and not about a tacking anyone else on the stage. >>reporter: he said he didn't like the questions being asked. >>man: this is not a cage match. you look at the questions, how about talking about the issues. >>reporter: the candidates also talking about the future of fantasy sports website like boston based draft kings. >>man: if he can't regulate themselves, then the nfl needs to look at moving away from them a little bit and there should be some regulation.
11:06 pm
>>man: are we really talking about the government getting involved in fantasy football? we have $19 trillion in debt, we have people out of work, we have isis attacking us and we're talking about fantasy football? >>reporter: carly who shined in the last debate but struggled in the polls tried to standout with her tax proposal. >>man: you want to bring the 70 pages to three? >>woman: that's right. you know why three? only if it's about three pages are you levelling the playing field. >>reporter: earlier not night, gop candidates who didn't have much support debated on the same stage fighting for attention. >>man: unlike these other threes, i want to win new hampshire. >>reporter: the chairman of the rnc just said cnbc should be ashamed of how they handled this debate. they're not happy with the questions. the most important big question tonight was did this
11:07 pm
candidates' chances of being in the nominations. >>reporter: fire and ice. trump and carson, one's hot, one's cold and in this debate, only one was well served by his temperament. carson won the debate. when his economic planned was directly challenged by one of the panelists, he calmly explained why he believed he was right. he avoided every trap set for him and smartly avoided all the shouting around him. in contrast, trump kept turning up the heat and in my opinion, was burned by it. he never exactly explained why you want to send him to the white house unless you love his anger or his love of himself. there were 8 other candidates on the stage, each of them trying to win more votes and keep their hope alive. in that group, i saw another winner and loser. rubio was a winner with his third strong debate performance.
11:08 pm
he was very smooth defending his missed us senate votes and his problems with his personal finances. he went head to head with bush and bested him. bush himself, admitted he can't fake anger and couldn't make his case against rubio either. he came across as well-meaning but weak. and as a follower not a leader. take away his last name and i think he disappears. i don't expect a big change in the polls tomorrow. the sun is setting on donald trump and rising on ben carson. assuming i'm reading the sun correctly. live in the news room, i'm andy and that's my instinct they officially nominate paul ryan to be the new speaker of the house. it is the vote is set for tomorrow a truck driver going bananas
11:09 pm
after someone wearing a gorilla mask took aim at him with a bb gun. >>reporter: this could've been a lot worse because of the fuel that this delivery truck driver was carrying. thankfully that bb did not smash his windshield. now police are looking for a man that likes to wear a gorilla mask. he was driving his delivery truck when all the sudden he sees a person wearing a gorilla mask hanging out a driver's side window coming straight at him holding some sort of gun >>man: i don't know if he deliberately tried to shoot the gun but when he swerved it jerked him around and shot accidently. >>reporter: the next second he hears a loud crack and realizes whoever wearing the mask shot his windshield. >>man: i saw the hole. that's when i pulled over and started getting a little mad and wondered what the heck is going on >>reporter: police say it was a bb gun, not a real gun but that doesn't matter. what if the driver lost control and hurt himself or someone else
11:10 pm
not to mention he was carrying 2 thousand gallons of oil >>man: we're lucky the driver maintained himself. >>man: this is a first. i've been involved in the oil business for 50 years. this >>reporter: police are investigating if this was some sort of a halloween joke. but the father of who young girls wasn't laughing >>man: try to think before you do stuff like this. it's not all funny. >>reporter: well, no one was hurt but police say they may have found the vehicle that was involved but so far no arrests have been made. a disturbing new report finds the department of children and families missed its chance to possibly save the little girl whose body was found on deer island. the state report looked into a neglect case against the mother in 2013 and the investigator

jeb bush was a very strong governor, probably the strongest governor in the history of the state of florida. he was a young guy and i think there were some folks in the legislature that thought they might be able to run over him. that didn't happen. one tax cut wasn't enough- he had to do more. it wasn't enough to have 15,000 kids with school choice in florida, he wanted to have 100,000 kids. if he didn't like a project, it was going to be vetoed. it didn't matter if you were a republican. it didn't matter if you were his best friend. he said: 'this is where we're going, this is how we're going to reform state government...' every politician comes in talking about making change, and generally there's not much change. but governor bush made a lot of changes. he got the nickname veto corleone. if he saw something in the budget that he thought violated his conservative principles, you could guarantee it was gonna get whacked. he vetoed a bunch of my stuff and i was the senate president.
