with his sexual assault conviction by involving a younger classmate at st. paul's prep. this was video when he learned he was found guilty but the judge sentenced him to a year in jail and probation. he'll have register as a sex offender but will not serve time in state prison. jonathan hall will have more as the afternoon continues. >> ryan: emergency crews called to sullivan middle school in lowell after more than 60 students got sick. the school was evacuated while crews tested for carbon monoxide but that wasn't the case. the cause of the illness a mystery but they think this may have a fast-moving virus. they plan to test the ventilation system and give the school a thorough cleaning then decide whether they'll reopen tomorrow. >> kim: a plane catching fire on the tarmac at fort lauderdale's airport. passengers were evacuated. you see someone on a stretcher. the plane engine had gone up in flames. >> ryan: officials say 15 people

were on the plane. they were hurt at the time this happened. >> the airport was shut down a few hours and has reopened much the plane was taxiing when the engine caught fire. fire officials say 15 people were taken to the hospital. one of whom had serious injuries. passengers were evacuated off the plane using emergency slides and firefighters rushed to put the fire out. a pilot in another plane behind the one that caught fire reported seeing fuel leaking from the venezuela bound boeing 767 as bad as it looks, this situation could have been much worse. >> you know, this could have been very bad. it's bad enough that we have an aircraft that catches fire, fully loaded fuel wise, departing for caracas but everything worked as plan as far as training. we have a good ending under the circumstances.

a car crash in lynn causing traffic trouble during the morning commute. the car ended up on the roof. the two people inside got out on their own and only suffered minor injuries. the crash snarled traffic for drivers southbound. >> taylor swift wants a jury trial to take the man who groped her to court. it was wednesday the pop star filed a counter lawsuit hoping to bring a radio deejay to court saying he inappropriately touched her. last month he fired swift claiming he was fired after she accused him of the crime. she will donate any money she wins to charity. rob ford says doctors discovered a tumor on his brother's bladder. he was in the hospital with abdominal pain. they haven't said whether the tumor is related to the

abdominal cancer. a brazen crime caught on camera. surveillance video catching a dealership disaster. three men bust through a door and steal a pickup truck. this dealership isn't the only one. there's a county wide search for the suspects. >> the surveillance video captures it all. three men first breaking through a glass door to get into uptown motors, then busting out in a stolen f150 careening through the glass doors. it looked like they planned on stealing two more but got spooked and left with the truck. >> i've been here over 30 years. we've never had a car taken off our showroom florida. but they took the f150 and, like i say, something, thank god, scared them away and they left. >> m and m motors were also hit. crooks made off with two vehicles. police went door-to-door investigating. >> it makes us nervous and we

back into worcester, 32 miles an hour provincetown gusting only to 23a front going by and just -- forcing that cool air good now. the great lakes. you can see snow showers over ontario but that cooler air will be shunted away from us. we won't get deep into the cold the next couple days. this is friday, saturday, 57 on friday, saturday about 55. cool, a chilly start. these are the salem forecast but proxy that in eastern mass. high pressure and calm winds on saturday. high clouds get in here in the afternoon and should blot out much of the sun. as far as showers, we have a plume of it early on sunday but it looks like most of that should be across northern new england as we get into and stay in the milder air next week.

jeb bush was a very strong governor, probably the strongest governor in the history of the state of florida. he was a young guy and i think there were some folks in the legislature that thought they might be able to run over him. that didn't happen. one tax cut wasn't enough- he had to do more. it wasn't enough to have 15,000 kids with school choice in florida, he wanted to have 100,000 kids. if he didn't like a project, it was going to be vetoed. it didn't matter if you were a republican. it didn't matter if you were his best friend. he said: 'this is where we're going, this is how we're going to reform state government...' every politician comes in talking about making change, and generally there's not much change. but governor bush made a lot of changes. he got the nickname veto corleone. if he saw something in the budget that he thought violated his conservative principles, you could guarantee it was gonna get whacked.
