6:05 pm
school teacher colleen ritzer. >> the court finds that mr. chism has sufficient present ability to consult with his attorney, with a reasonable degree of rational understanding. selection was stopped because defense lawyers said chism was his padded cell and sometimes spoke of hearing voices. chism's lawyers now asked to move his trial because the jury pool might be tainted by news reports of those actions. >> these comments that have been reported are gratuitous and inflammatory materials that increases the risk of prejudice of mr. chism. >> reporter: chism's lawyers also complained recent news coverage of the anniversary of ritzer's death worked against their client. the prosecutor angrily rejected that argument. >> reporter: the mere fact that people are remembering ritzer does not in any way praise the defendant any more than boston strong suggested mr. tsarnaev was more guilty than innocent. >> reporter: the judge rejected

back a few degrees but still made a run for 70. didn't quite get there nashua or norwood. worcester was 65, now falling back in some cases into the 40s. upper 50s elsewhere and mid-60s along the coastline. boston we're not going to sink all that far going back to 50 degrees. clear skies. i have a really with a front moving in, and it's moving in from the mid atlantic and carries with it warmer temperatures for one and also some humidity. when the humidity gets in here, watch what happens. we start to maybe clouds. just a little bit sticky here tomorrow and more so on friday with some cloud cover, we run the risk for a sprinkle. most of the sprinkles should be overnight on thursday. they're not depicted here at all but i'm thinking we may be able to squeeze them out of some of those clouds. increasing clouds for tomorrow. our temperatures start off in the 40s, go to the 60s, and about. and settle back into the evening.
6:18 pm
a pretty nays day all around. friday is a cloudier day and the issue is will we get enough sunshine in here to warm us up into the 70s? i think that's an easy task. cold, no? instead we have this bubble of warm air that jets up and down ontario and quebec and snuffs out some of the cold air so there's nothing really building crass northern canada. status quo, that's what we go with, our normal high is 55. 68, 74 on friday. then down into the lower 60s saturday, then sunday that's where we feel the pinch. that is the coolest day of the next 7. one day stands alone and looks like the temperatures will start to bounce back again next week. we did it in 2014 and 2011, too. anyway, friday, cloughs to a record in boston and in worcester. 75 and 71. there it is.
6:19 pm
next week the warmth somewhat mellows. see you tonight. a lot of work going on right now to make way for football at fenway. crews converting the field as you can see from sky 7 hd as we pull out wide there. boston college will take on notre dame in about two weeks, and by the way, it's been almost 50 years since there was a football game at the ballpark. many moons ago the pats used to play there. they're tough, they're very competitive, they do a lot of things well. and they give you a lot to get ready for. it's not an easy team to prepare for. >> listening to bill belichick, you would think the patriots are the team preparing to face an undefeated opponent this sunday. jay gruden's team comes to foxboro one game under 500 and wins in three tries on the road this season. for the second time this season and 25th time in his career, tom brady named the afc's offensive player of the week,
6:20 pm
brady earning this latest honor after torching the dolphins' defense for 366 yards and 4 touchdowns and as 7's alex corddry reports, the three-time super bowl mvp is keeping his foot on the gas pedal heading into sunday's game against washington. >> there's definitely room for improvement. this is a good week to go out there and see if we can clean some of those things up. >> reporter: the patriots, one of the four remaining undefeated teams believe they still have plenty of work cut out for them starting with a visit from washington on sunday. >> we're going to have to attack all levels, short, inter intermediate, deep. and it's gotta be good execution. they limit the nights could be very tough, very disruptive. >> reporter: it's clear tom brady and the 7 and 0 pats aren't overlooking an underwhelming washington team. they might have a losing record but only half a game behind the first place giants in the nfc east and still have plenty to play for. >> they're gonna come in here
6:21 pm
win, so i ciewnld expect that every week we usually get their best shot and they're ready to go. >> no matter what, you gonna get the best shot from any team around this league on any given week so you can't go out there and downplay anybody. >> reporter: with the patriots having that type of focus will they continue to roll over opponents and stay undefeated? they'll tell you straight up that's the furthest thing from their minds. >> you just gotta focus on each game. >> one game at a time might seem cliche but the truth behind the patriots' consistency especially as they work on their third season in a row with at least 10 wins. alex corddry, 7sports. and a painful reminder last night of what should have been in boston, the former number 2 overall pick notched his seventh career hat trick leading dallas to a 5-3 win at the garden. unfortunately for bruins and
