wh us officials say isis may have planted a bomb on the plane that blew up a murder mystery in bridge water. police search for answers after they found a woman's body burned. we cloud the picture over the next few days. will we see cooler temperatures? she was driven to act after trouble with the tolls. >> she asked us to solve it 7. there is breaking news first at 11:00, an elderly woman is dead tonight after she was hit crossing a busy boston street. this happened this afternoon on tredmont street on the south end. >> tonight, that woman's friend is still in the hospital. >>reporter: the victim's family telling us she was with her friend when they were both crossing right here at this crosswalk when they were both hit by the car. they're devastating to be losing this grandmother of six.

a deadly accident in boston south end left investigators photographing, measuring, and marking the scene for hours. >>man: i was walking down the street and i saw two ladies crossing and the black car hit them on the crosswalk. >>reporter: police say this black suv hit two women in the crosswalk who were making their way across, killing one of them. >>woman: i just saw this black car right in the crosswalk and a woman visibly upset and shaken. >>reporter: the victim's family says the grandmother lives a couple of blocks away. the driver of the suv could be heard in tears talking about the glare from the sun. >>man: she just was hysterical saying she couldn't see because the sun was in her face. >>reporter: that driver was put in an ambulance, witnesses say, along with the two women that were hit. >>man: they started checking her.

>>reporter: several blocks of this main road closed for hours so investigators could try to piece together what led up to this deadly crash in an area folks say could be difficult for everyone to navigate. >>woman: it's challenging for both pedestrians and drivers. it's a tricky thing. >>reporter: the victim's family said she lives just a couple of bobbing blocks away and often walks in the neighborhood. they're continuing their investigation of this crash we're following breaking news out of new york. police say they recovered debris from the harbor in queens after receiving a call about a possible plane coming down. nypd officials say they are searching for people that could've been on board. there are no reports of missing aircrafts in the area but an investigation has began and

only could've come from a bomb on the plane or a fuel tank exploded >>man: we have a strong desire to get to the bottom of what exactly happened there. >>reporter: getting an explosive device on to an aircraft in this region is a game changer for security. >>reporter: the faa is advising us airlines to avoid flying into or over the sinai peninsula in egypt where the plane took off. but the terrorist group blew a plane out of the sky, it has a far deadlier reach than ever before. to be clear, that is a strong suspicion, not a proven fact. >>man: i'm not going to talk here. there has been press reports from isis claims as well >>reporter: the head of the airport, where the flight took off has been fired.

murder mystery in bridge water leaves people on edge. they found a woman's body burning and bound. >>reporter: that body was found about one hundred feet off of these tracks right here behind me. police are appealing to the public with any videos, pictures or information they may have to solve this crime. almost 24 hours after a woman's body is found burning near bridge water's raiload crossing, three questions remain. who is this victim, what happened to her, and where is the person or people responsible for her death? this woman says her daughter lives close to the crime scene and is so distraught because she heard suspicious activity tuesday. >>woman: they were racing and seemed to be panicked and huffing and puffing up and down the street. >>reporter: it was a 911 call from a neighbor that brought them down here.

they discovered a dead woman bound and on fire >>man: her hands were tied behind her back and in some fashion tied toward her feet. >>reporter: homicide detectives combed the brush looking for clues. they often had to pause for passing trains. at this point, investigators believe the burning happened here but where and when the victim was killed is still a mystery. as for people living around the tracks, it's unsettling that anyone would commit such a hey nus crime in their back yard >>man: you could see why because it's a closed road, i guess. there are a lot of people that live around here. it's suspicious. >>reporter: and police believe this was a targeted crime. they tell people in this community that they don't have to be concerned for their safety. reporting live from bridge water, kim bookman. close call for a driver in oak wood. a piece of wood crashes right in

her car. a wood post smashed through her windshield. amazingly, the woman was not injured. investigators think the post fell off another vehicle the owner of an eyeglasses store says her eyes are open after her store was targeted by crooks. the robbery was all caught on camera. >>reporter: it started out as a typical afternoon but take a closer look. keep your eye on the man in blue. you could see him grabbing these glasses and it doesn't stop there. >>woman: they're looking for such and such and gucci and the anymore. they steal something, put it in their pocket, and then one took off and one stayed here >>reporter: but the store's owner and her co-workers jumped into action questioning one of the men as he takes one set of glasses after another. before they could get any answers, the two men take off, walking right through the front

door and making off with lots of expensive eye wear >>woman: he grabbed a five frames and then tried to run out of the store. he's a strong man, i tried to stop him by pulling his clothes >>reporter: and that's when things got violent. >>woman: he punched her in the face. she has a swollen face and she's at home and she has a pain in the jaw >>reporter: chasing one of the men that ended up getting away. she no longer feels safe inside her own store >>woman: i feel terrible. this is supposed to be a safe area. >>reporter: again, that employee that was punched in the face is home but she's okay. as for police, they say these men are suspected in several other eye glass store robberies and anyone with information is asked to call police as soon as possible. the murder trial of a local teenager will go on as planned. a judge declared the 16-year-old is competent to stand trial. he's accused of raping and

killing his children. jury selection had stopped two weeks ago so he could undergo a mental health evaluation. more news tonight, a standoff in san diego, california, ends with the suspect in hand cuffs. he alledgedly shot at officers. the incident had officials cancel flights at the airport in central california, four people were hurt in a knife attack on college campus this morning. police shot and killed the suspect who was a student at the school. all of the victims are expected to be okay a man is facing charges accused of a brutal attack on an american hero. he stabbed air force stone several times. the suspect has been charged with attempted murder an illinois police officer once hailed a hero after it was

line of duty, actually betrayed the damage. they sparked a massive man hunt for three people, investigators say his death was a carefully staged suicide. a country mourned after the death of charles. two months after his death, a stunning announcement >>man: this officer killed himself. >>reporter: authorities said he had been stealing from a police program for young people and laundering that money for about 7 years spending it on personal vacations and adult websites. they believe he killed himself because he thought he was going to get caught. investigators have been pouring over evidence. "you'll have to start dumping money into that account or you'll be visiting me in jail." a massive three day man hunt costing nearly half a million dollars the first day along. it was a carefully staged suicide.

short days, it tells you how warm this air mass is. 50 in bedford, 43 in nashville. clear skies and then we get down into the fog. just notice that across southeast mass. it's creeping and you won't notice it here. but the visibility is already down to a mile in new bedford. it will creep through the south shore and stay across southeast mass. there it is. 4:00 in the morning. a couple of sprinkles are possible tomorrow but i think the clouds hang through places down into cohasit and down through cape cod. we should be able to shake some of those on friday afternoon and into the evening as the front approaches to get the sun in to get us close to record territory. tomorrow, we're brightest where we should make 70 no problem. boston is bright.

where we hang a lot of clouds and morning fog as well. and some snow, too. that's where the cold is. arizona to montana. here in the east, close to record on friday and falling back in the weekend. not dramatically. mainly clear. dense fog southeast about 42-52 degrees. partly sunny. late sprinkles are possible and then that 7 on 7 forecast, there's your weekend. a lot of sun in store for us. it will be a little breezy on friday but we should be close to a record in boston. the number to beat is 73. i'm not saying 70s next week but we're still above normal. we might have some wet weather on tuesday. i'll see you tomorrow a driver receives a ticket in the mail for not paying a cited wasn't even hers. nowhere.

appeal and about a week later received a letter in the mail. her appeal was rejected. she made a few more calls but got nowhere so she reluctantly decided to pay it. >>woman: you just feel helpless. >>reporter: just before dropping the check in the mail, phyllis remembered solve it 7. >>woman: i enjoy this segment so shot. >>reporter: we contacted the department of transportation and told them the trouble phyllis was having.
