well. a big sth of rainfall that was just paltry. falmouth picked up and got into the act and heavy rain poured down there. 1.5. almost 2 inches in hingham. the trade yept was tight on the south shore -- gradient was tight on the south shore. we still have this leftover moisture like we normally do with coastal storms and this one no exception. a little patch of drizzle holding on now on the south shore and also the canal. this is also something we watch for in these coastal storms and nor easters too. when we have these areas of precipitation that hold on across parts of central new hampshire or even through western mass, they kind of just hold here until the storm pulls away. they never really shifted down. this is probably of we were missing, the second part of the storm system. nonetheless the next one gearing up. this one not a big one but it promise to see bring us more wet

man snapped these pictures of the empty bus parked in the construction zone now surrounded by boston police and mbta officers. moments earlier at&t officials say a man pulled out a small axe and threated to hurt himself. police say the king-thinking bus driver pulled over in this construction zone where several boston officers were working a detail, jumped out and called for help. one or two officers got on the bus and when the officers learned the troubled man was a veteran, one officer said thank you for your service. police say the simple words of appreciation, calm the man down. they agreed to put down the axe and come off the bus on his own. the driver and when i passengers okay. the man with the axe taken to the hospital for evaluation. the businessman who took these pictures credits the detail officers for actions.

>> it's because it could have been worse. so now it's safe, so the guy's alive and nobody got hurt so it's a good thing. reporter: a live in dorchester, dan hausle, 7 news. new york banning boston based draft kids. the state attorney general saying it's illegal gambling. brandon gunnoe is in the news room. reporter: they are saying their site features games of skill and this decision caught them offguard. the sights came under scrutiny when it was revealed some employees may have gained access to insider data to win money. she says the sites are a new industry which her office is taking an independent look at.

trump was talking like a winner. >> eight people on the stage and one by one by one they are disappearing, disappearing. it's a beautiful thing to watch as they go out. reporter: the republican candidates spent much of their time on stage last night arguing their positions on national security and immigration. trump was forced to defend his plan to deport up documented immigrants while other candidates say it couldn't be done. jeb bush was in iowa veterans. he critiqued his own performance in the debate. >> i thought it was fine. i did well, talked about issues that were born to people. we started talking about whose the person who can beat hillary clinton. reporter: marco rubio was also bounce. reporter: ben carson now under secret service protection. today carson was back in frowpt of a big crowd at a christian college in virginia, not talking about the debate,

instead discussing his faith and values. >> isn't that part of the problem with our society today, people want to force their beliefs on everybody else. reporter: trump who will also soon be getting secret service protection was join bid two of his sons in manchester. >> we're really proud of him and psyched to be here. reporter: so the presidential race continues to heat up here in new hampshire with the first in the nation primary now just three months away. tomorrow two more g.o.p. hopefuls will be filing their papers here, lindsey graham and rick santorum. in manchester, new hampshire, i'm byron barnett, 7 news. new detail tonight about the plane that crash mood an ohio apartment building. the ntsb just updated this investigation. they say they have recovered the cockpit recorder and are hoping it can provide more clues into this deadly descent. ryan schulteis is here with the latest.

reporter: investigators are sifting through the wreckage as they try to figure out why this plane went down. authorities say that die. nobody was in the building at the time and no one else on the grouped there was hurt. today the ntsb uncovered recorder. it has been shipped to washington to be analyzed for any clues as to what happened. >> oh, my god. reporter: paige was snap chatting with a neighbor when the plane went down. she caught the moment of impact on the camera. the ntsb will be looking into their conditions to see if that impacted the plane's ability to land. >> there was a previous flight that landed just before this flight landed. so there were conditions, instrumented conditions that were capable of being landed. reporter: they also say the

was veering on descent to the airport before it crashed. in the news room, ryan schulteis, 7 news. school threats at the university of missouri causing fear on pulse. security has been stepped up after the 19-year-old is accused making terroristic threats. officials say there's no immediate threat but fear has pushed some students and faculty away from campus. >> a lot of fear. a lot of people moving around. a lot of different threats going on from campus, people in shock. >> i don't know if you've been on campus but it's like a ghosttown. the whole place is just empty. >> parks is expected to appear in court tomorrow. a special day for men and women who served this country. president obama honoring our nation's veterans in virginia today. he stopped by arlington national cemetery as he always does, and just like every year the president laid a wreath

at the tomb of the unknown soldier. tributes took place at the national world war ii memorial and the vietnam veterans memorial wall. the gloomy weather didn't stop from their veteran parade this morning. the roads were filled with local veterans, town staff and other groups. to falmouth now. one veteran receiving the silver star on his 70th birthday. congressman presenting the award for his exceptional service in vietnam. third highest military an emotional ceremony for the men and women who served this country at the state house today. recognizing their 7's victoria warren was salutes. reporter: a day of remembrance, a day of honoring our veterans.

cloudy out there. don't be looking for much in the way of clearing tonight or tomorrow. we have another weather system closing in quickly and the sun is too weak to burp through all those clouds. dew point reading 47 in town. it might be time for me to change that dew point to a wind chill. all right. so it's time to switch up. storm system pulling away. a mighty one too.

it never really merged with hurricane kate, now hurricane kate. so we never really had a blockbuster on our hands. we still had quite a bit of rain on the south shore and so across parts of central new hampshire and out on route 2. it was in between that we really feel like we lost out on some water here. from andover to natick all the way down into places like dighton and rehoboth and providence too. there's a big gap. right now we just have drizzle. not much of anything happening right now. a lot of fading out. this was an abandoned area of rain that just kind of sat here and some totals were up towards an inch and then out through the cape. you see it on the south shore. boston picked up about a half an inch, not bad, but them this big gap here and it's not like it didn't rain. this is generally a tenth of an inch to a quarter of an inch. it should be color-coded. it's not.

and another stripe here. if we were to do that in this case, it would have been nasty. it would have been like close to a foot and a half on the cape and then the south shore the same and boston picking up six and maybe one or two north and west of the city. it would have been really tough to forecast. but we're take note of this pause wee me we're going to have these in the winter. clouds, they are with us tomorrow. we're hand in hand with this one and then it looks like our rain sweeps in quickly in the afternoon but it's not an intense rain, not like steady. it will be spotty as we go through the evening hours and them into the overnight and wraps up quickly before we get into friday morning. friday is looking pretty good. our temperatures start off in the 40s tomorrow morning, even upper 30s and then rise slowly into the 50s and that's it tomorrow thank fought fact we don't see any sunshine. on friday we get into the upper 50s as we
