drug conspiracy and child endangerment. rood's boyfriend mark ross facing several charges as well. police also arresting 31-year-old woman of salisbury. they say she's an acquaintance of the couple and also facing drug charges and one count of witness tampering. officers found 17-year-old evangelique tarmey unresponsive in a rochester, new hampshire, motel room last month. investigators saying she died of a drug overdose. all three arrested in the case are due in court tomorrow. live telling break news desk, adam williams, 7 news. we're also following breaking news out of plymouth, where police found a body washed up on a beach this morning. steve, what can you tell us? >> reporter: well, we're getting some new information at this hour from the plymouth county district attorney tim hi -- timothy cruz about what happened earlier today. the area where the body washed ashore in plymouth is only reachable by land through duxbury.

this morning off gurnet point and the district attorney telling us at this hour, the wod body that washed ashore is that of a mauldin man. the 18-year-old male was last seen by his family back on october 17th. we're told the medical examiner will ultimately determine the cause and manner of death here. but at this hour, according to the district attorney, no foul play is suspected at this hour. and, of course, a lot of people here all day long have been anxious for answers and again we're picking this up new information. the body that washed ashore in plymouth earlier today is that of a man from mauldin, who we're told is 18 years old and, of course, the investigation is ongoing tonight. that's the latest live in duxbury, steve cooper, 7 news. >> ryan: also on 7, an officer speaking out after lending a helping hand to a veteran in danger. two officers came to the rescue when the man threatened to hurt himself on an mbta bus. >> elizabeth: and shortly after diffusing the situation, the officers took that man to a v.a. medical center. 7's dan hausle spoke with one of

those officers. he joins us now with more on this story. dan? >> reporter: well, this officer tells us it was a tough situation that vet had the hatchet, up against his neck and rubbing it back and forth to the point where he actually drew blood. the key was these officers finding the right words to say and remembering what day it was. >> how are you doing? >> reporter: veteran boston cop hussein learned the power of a simple "thank you" yesterday when faced with a man with a hatchet, threatening to hurt similarself. >> i'm trying to talk him into putting the hatchet down and he's not going for. he's like i just got kicked out of the shelter. i have no reason to live. >> reporter: the scene played out on an mbta bus, where the driver pulled over for help on columbia road, where the captain was working a detail. hussein says he wasn't having much luck calming down the man with the hatchet, with another officer found the man was a veteran and thoughing it was veterans' day, the officer found the magic words.

said thank you for your service, it being veterans' day and he put the axe down and threw it away. i was very happy that, you know, that a thank you, words of kindness was all it took, because this guy he clearly looked like he was going to hurt himself. >> reporter: hussein also credits the quick-thinking bus driver not only with finding the detail officers, but with telling four passengers on board in spanish to run out the bus backdoor when he stopped. the vet with the hatchet was charged with assault with a deadly weapon. captain hussein says he hopes the court is lenient. >> he does need help. he is a veteran. it was veterans' day. and hopefully they can, you know, get him the help he needs. >> reporter: and it looks like help is on the way at a hearing here. the vet was not required to appear. he sent to bridgewater to the state hospital for mental evaluation. we're live in dorchester, dan hausle, 7 news. >> ryan: a drive on the cape send as state trooper to the hospital. investigators say a driver going the wrong way slammed head on

into the police cruiser. nicole oliverio has the latest on that collision. >> reporter: a state police trooper placed in an ambulance after his patrol car was hit head on by a wrong-way driver. the injured trooper was one of two trying to slow and warn drivers that a pickup truck was heading in the wrong direction along route 6 in barnstable. state police got the call around 11:30 last night. they say an 80-year-old man was heading east in the westbound lane. it's unclear how long he was driving in the wrong direction, but he eventually crashed into the state police cruiser near exit 6. the barnstable fire department responded and say it took a little while to get the trooper out of his damaged car. the trooper was taken to cape cod hospital, where he has already been treated and release and is expected to be okay. investigators say the elderly driver suffered from a medical been behind the wheel. he was also taken to the hospital as a precaution. the elderly driver was cited and will be summoned to court.

state police say they're also looking to have his license revoked immediately. in yarmouth, nicole oliverio, 7 news. >> elizabeth: now taking a look at news across the country. a standoff in san francisco comes to a deadly end. police first responded to reports of a gunman near a hospital yesterday afternoon. investigators said that the man robbed a store before climbing a building under construction. they say once that suspect saw the officers, he pointed the gun towards them. that's when the officers shot at roof. well, a woman is behind bars in texas accused of abandoning park-and-ride bathroom. police found 25-year-old roseanne welch with the public's help, after releasing building. now according to witnesses, welsh gave birth in the bathroom on halloween night. that baby is in critical condition. a train and a car collided early this morning in ohio. officials closed the railroad crossing at the site of the crash for several hours to examine and remove the wreckage. no one on the train or in the

car was hurt. >> ryan: caught on camera. violent road rage crash in north carolina. you can see the two cars appear to try to cut each other off and slam on the brakes. there we go. right here a few times. the drivers continue on until both vehicles spin out. both men are charged charged with reckless driving. body camera footage shows that indiana police officers shooting a dog. the police department says that the officer was defending himself and the two dogs charged at him. but the owners say the dog didn't do anything wrong and was just trying to protect his property. >> in this case, the body cam clearly shows that this dog was on the loose and it was aggressive and it did charge at the officer and the officer made the right choice to protect himself. >> he's normally a nice dog. he's a really good dog. he's been trained his whole life to be a guard dog. >> the police departmented should pay for the actual vet bills the family says. >> elizabeth: police in florida on the lookout for a puppy prowler. a woman caught on camera taking a $100 puppy from a pet shop. now the store's owner is

kawnting on the public to help police identify the young woman. >> they just looked like two girls out shopping, you know, and enjoying the day. and i would have never thought it would have been them that took the dog. >> that dog a yorkie , less than 2 pounds, snatched in seconds. the girls are seen on surveillance coming into the puppy stop around 5:00. they walk around to the different cribs, one talks to the owner as he's mopping the floor. the other grabs the yorkie, takes a sip of her drink and tries to stuff him in her bag. she ends up just walking out. her friend right behind. >> i was more worried about them slipping on the floor at the time then i was them taking a dog. >> reporter: the camera catches them interest -- them from several angles. >> when you steal a dog, you're going to pay full price for it when we catch you. >> reporter: this isn't the first time the puppy stop has been hit.

stuffed an $800 pug down his pants, going back to his car. >> thanks to you guys about a year and a half, two years ago, we did catch the people that took our two dogs. and we'll catch you, too. >> elizabeth: the puppy stopped's owners are offering a $250,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in this case. >> ryan: a florida man finding himself in some gator danger after attacked outside of his home. the alligator lunged right out of the canal while he was doing yard work. he would not let go of the homeowner's arm. he managed to get free and will be okay. but the gator did leave its mark. >> it happened so fast. like he was going to -- like i didn't know -- i don't know what it was. there was all of this pressure. >> i got four stitches here and i got two here. >> ryan: wow. after the attack the gator was captured and later euthanized. >> elizabeth: he's lucky.

>> elizabeth: a dog in taunton and a whole lot of trouble after taking a tumble down a well. poor little guy. rescue crews worked to pull that dog from 25 feet underground. >> ryan: they had to put together a system of harnesses to pull the dog to safety. tim caputo explains. >> reporter: buddy plummeted 25 feet to the bottom of a well. he spent the night there and firefighters had their hands full trying to pull him out safely. >> buddy. >> reporter: tonight buddy is feeling much better. the 2-year-old dog spent what must have felt like weeks at the bottom of the well. >> he's probably hungry. >> reporter: monday night his owners thought he was nearby. >> i heard him barking but he's always barking. i really didn't think anything of it. >> reporter: the next morning he was nowhere to be found of the it was buddy's actual dad

who found him. >> our dog was like standing on like one of the rocks near there and looking down there. so we thought that he might be down there and we went to go look down there and we like saw him looking up at us. >> reporter: they immediately called the fire department. >> when we got there, i went to the well and i looked down and i couldn't believe how deep it was. >> reporter: the dog didn't seemed scared, he carefully hoisted the pup out. >> we just re-just ad and it worked out fine. >> reporter: buddy wasn't hurt, not even a scratch. the entire group are all relieved buddy is safe and sound. >> we were happy and it was a nice happy ending that he come out well you can see. he's okay. >> reporter: the higgins put that temporary reinforcement on top of the well. but they say the plan is to eventually fill the well so something like this never happens again. in taunton, tim caputo, 7 news.

i wouldn't let him. and he's broadcasting live from each of the 50 states and he's finishing up his tour as he goes into new england and today he stopped by. and he had a few things to say. we had a great time. we threw some team over the eleanor here at the boston tea party museum. having a great time and thinking up some cider, of course, some tea and cookies, too. it's been beautiful weather-wise, though, not so. we had a lot in the way of shower activity and also it looks like the temperatures will be warming eventually as we go into the evening hours. and overnight especially. so this sets us up for a pretty decent forecast for tomorrow. but for the time being, showers still coming down. each time you see one of those marblehead. the rain comes down pretty good. boston is okay. looks like the shower dodged the actual city and went out into the harbor islands and also in braintree, we have wet weather. a stripe of moderate rain near the canal and reaches over to the seashore and also more vineyard and nantucket. this is all heading eastbound.

might have a few more showers before we clear it up late tonight. this is a quick-moving weather system. it ran from about detroit to toronto in just about six hours. so it's moving through quickly. our temperatures holding right near 50 degrees. we went up just about a degree in boston. expect more of that to come our way. north adams in the 50s. look at new york at 60 degrees. again rising temperatures overnight. and tomorrow getting close to 60 degrees. the issue with tomorrow's forecast the wind. all across the midwest, the upper plains, this storm has been producing wind. gusts to 30, 35, maybe even 40 miles an hour tomorrow during the course of the day. so that kind of cuts back that idea of a beautiful day outside. and, you know, having lunch outside. i mean, you can still do it. close to 60. just hold on to your lunch. all right. saturday cooling off. temperatures falling back into the 40s. there are your wind gusts for tomorrow out of the southwest. look at the vineyard, nantucket 30 plus at times.

saturday is also a breezy day, but a little chilly. our temperatures tonight, though, 46 to 54. riding into the 50s. almost mid-50s and tomorrow starting off mild, finishing mild, close to 60. and the seven-day forecast has sunshine in it. and we're back into a dry period here long-term with a slow warming trend. i'm not going to push it too much on monday and tuesday. i will on wednesday and thursday. the wind wil pick up, too. might have late showers on thursday and then maybe another set-up for even warmer weather friday into next weekend, too. it looks like the warm weather will not be denied another visit into new england. another live report coming up at 6:00. we'll see you then. >> elizabeth: almost 70s. >> ryan: oh, my gosh. >> elizabeth: well, time is running out to set your fantasy football lineups this week. >> ryan: dion lewis on everyone's bench for the rest of the season, still some players to look out for. jadiann thompson has the details in this week's "fantasy fixer."

7 news at 6:00 starts now. >> adam: breaking news. police in rochester, new hampshire, making several arrests in connection with the death of a local high school students. evangelique tarmey was discovered dead in a motel room last weekend. >> kim: 7's byron barnett is live in rochester with breaking details details this evening. >> reporter: well, sadly this is another tragedy and a national crisis that has hit home here in rochester, new hampshire. a teenager is dead and her mother and two others are under 17-year-old evangelique tarmey of rochester, new hampshire, described as a bright, beautiful, caring teen who loved to go shopping and loved her music. now police say the high school senior died from a drug overdose at this motel in rochester. police say evangelique tarmey died from an accidental overdose of fentanyl, a powerful prescribed painkiller that's considered an opiate and often mixed with heroin.
