the day started with fill lyme chism saying he wouldn't return to the courtroom. the judge was questioning him. and trying to make arrangements to honor that request when the teen suddenly changed his mind and said he would go through the proceedings. he sat through very difficult testimony. including the last video evidence of colleen ritzer alive. 16-year-old philip chism with his head down, address it is court for the first time since the start of his murder trial. the teen murder suspect stood to answer the judge's questions. this comes after chism refused to come into the courtroom on tuesday. the court officers say they heard him saying he couldn't take it anymore. chism started wednesday, saying he no longer wanted to be in the kroochlt.

everyone outside. when firefighters arrived, they discovered the carbon monoxide inside the home was at a potentially deadly level. >> the gas valve on this unit... >> a faulty furnace was the cause. it was long overdue for an inspection. >> this one hasn't seen any attention for a good 15 years. remember, co is not detectable. you could be sleeping. the next thing you know, nobody is waking up. >> reporter: thankfully, that was not the case in this particular case. everyone was taken to the hospital to be checked out. i spoke to the family today. it appears everybody is doing fine. they are staying at a family friend's house. the fire department says this is an example of people who need to go out and it is a reminder to get carbon monoxide detectors. because they can save lives.

police and searched. we stopped a man rushing down the street. he said in arabic, he witnessed the whole thing. >> i saw the raid. 20 cars passed by here. then five minutes later, the shooting started, he said. "you heard the gunfire"? i asked? "i saw it with my eyes," he said. neighbors say this is the apartment where the raid targets were holed up. the main target was abdelhamid abaaoud, the mastermind behind the paris attacks. a belgian national. he had gone to syria to join isis. as day was breaking, the raids seemed to be winding down. but then several explosions echoed through the streets. it's common in situations like this for police to use grenades or small charges in order to set off booby traps that the suspects may have set

a few isolated showers very late in the day. more likely tomorrow night from this weather system. we will talk more about that in a few minutes. >> christa: a man from beverly accused of trying to kill his estranged wife. appearing in court. the 45-year-old axel shearer was charged with attempted murder and strangulation. he claims that his wife took $200,000 from their joint bank account and apparently, tried hide it from him. he will be in court on november 24. the attack happened monday night in beverly: police say that shearer entered a home on penny lane and tried to strangle his estranged wife and later reported to police he had killed her. taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. >> jadiann: a vermont toddler died in a car crash after the mother failed to put him in a proper safety seat. sympathy for a mother who

tragically under this type of circumstance. the message is that the law will hold every parent accountable for not properly securing their children. yard is the mother pled not guilty to involuntary manslaughter among many other felony charges. >> christa: the trial of nathaniel kibby, he is accused of kidnapping and raping a new hampshire teenager for several months back in 2014. a judge has denied the request to remove the prosecuteor in the case. kibby's attorneys wanted the prosecutor removed because kibby is also accused of threatening her. however, prosecutors said it had nothing to do with the case and the judge agreed with that. kibby's attorneys also asked the judge to throw out more than 50 pieces of evidence, including jail phone conversations and a laptop, and guns allegedly taken from his home. a decision on that evidence will be made during a later court date. >> jadiann: disturbing developments in an unsolved murder case in new hampshire

police released new images of four people found in metal drums. at a new hampshire state park investigators say they have determined when the victims were killed. they have also discovered that three of the victims are police hoping the new information will generate new leads in the case. >> these four people would have been together in the last two weeks to approximately three months of their lives. people before. they know. >> jadiann: investigators are performing more d.n.a. testing relationship between the four victims. >> christa: a high school principal in maine is off the allegations. student for sex. fired the high school principal during a public hearing on monday. the student claims he propositioned her on the first day of school. police also says he is accused of engaging in similar behavior while working at a high school up in new

hampshire. >> they have reviewed some documents also, as they have investigated these allegations. and intend to interview at least two more alleged victims. >> i felt that the... just alluding to the allegations tainted the process a bit. been filed. but police are still investigating. >> jadiann: updating a story that was first on 7: a after suffering head, neck, and back injuries in an accident in lowell. police say an elderly woman drove around construction cones on route 110 tuesday and nearly hit an officer before hitting a bob-cat construction vehicle. as a result, the bob-cat was launched into a group of construction workers. witnesses believe the car's speed was to blame. >> too fast driving.

>> she was crying saying "oh, my god. oh my god." were hurt. both suffered minor injuries. >> christa: a police chief wanted to motivate his officers. he offered them a reward. arrests in the month of october would get a weekend off in november. but the police union was against it. the chief shut it down. and people who live in abington wonder if officers simply would have gone out of their way to arrest more people. >> i think it is a very bad thing. i mean, if they are looking to arrest more people than they really need to. >> this is abington. a small little town. they are just corrupt. >> you couldn't make up an arrest. certainly, if an officer made
