it took about six steward ess to keep him down. >> the crew was professional. the troopers were professional. to us, it didn't seem like it was a big deal. we understand it is a heightened time of security right now. >> reporter: the woman is 32 years old from poland. she faces charges of interference with a flight crew. in east boston, 7 news. >> jadiann: a halifax man heads to court facing charges he stabbed a woman to death. the 32-year-old was arrested late tuesday by state police. halifax police observed the woman's body wrapped in a blanket. located inside the man's home. >> christa: philip chism decides to return to court for his murder trial. the teen accused of raping and killing his high school math teacher. and here is victoria warren. she is in salem with the latest on what happened today. >> reporter: yeah. christa, a lot of things still trial.

the day started with fill lyme chism saying he wouldn't return to the courtroom. the judge was questioning him. and trying to make arrangements to honor that request when the teen suddenly changed his mind and said he would go through the proceedings. he sat through very difficult testimony. including the last video evidence of colleen ritzer alive. 16-year-old philip chism with his head down, address it is court for the first time since the start of his murder trial. the teen murder suspect stood to answer the judge's questions. this comes after chism refused to come into the courtroom on tuesday. the court officers say they heard him saying he couldn't take it anymore. chism started wednesday, saying he no longer wanted to be in the kroochlt.

what you want to do. >> reporter: but then a sudden change of mind after the judge pointed out that chism would give up a constitutional right to confront his accusers. >> you want to give up that right to be president, to be here to confront, see the witnesses. see the cross examination. do you want to be present? do you want to be present during the trial? >> reporter: chism once again, sat quietly. prosecutors wheeled in the recycling bin chism is accused of placing ritzer's body in and showed jurors colleen's shoes that were found behind the high school. then the jury saw the last video evidence of the young math teacher alive. she leaves her classroom and walks into a bathroom. the prosecutors say philip chism soon walked in after her. prosecutors say colleen ritzer and philip chism were inside of the path room at danvers high school for 11 minutes. live in salem, victoria warren,

7 news. >> jadiann: an 11-year-old girl is being hailed a hero after a close call. firefighters say she saved her family from what could have been a deadly situation. nick emmons has the story. snick >> reporter: yeah. that family really happy. the 11-year-old girl jumped into action and did the right thing. the fire department saying she did the right thing by getting everyone inside their home outside. a family lucky to be alive after an odorless, silent scare in this nashua, new hampshire home. >> we are not really sure what really happened. >> are you thankful everybody is okay now? >> yup. very thankful. >> reporter: then the 11-year-old knew something was wrong when her sister, mom, and grandparents felt dizzy and sick. she told her dad to get

everyone outside. when firefighters arrived, they discovered the carbon monoxide inside the home was at a potentially deadly level. >> the gas valve on this unit... >> a faulty furnace was the cause. it was long overdue for an inspection. >> this one hasn't seen any attention for a good 15 years. remember, co is not detectable. you could be sleeping. the next thing you know, nobody is waking up. >> reporter: thankfully, that was not the case in this particular case. everyone was taken to the hospital to be checked out. i spoke to the family today. it appears everybody is doing fine. they are staying at a family friend's house. the fire department says this is an example of people who need to go out and it is a reminder to get carbon monoxide detectors. because they can save lives.

that was working properly. nick emmons, 7 news. >> christa: a live look now. here you see. it is sunny but very cool. in the neighborhood. here is jeremy reiner. >> jeremy: mostly sunny skies. boston at 46. plymouth, 48. norwood, 50 degrees. jaffrey and orange, lower 40's. there are a few more clouds out through western new england. they spent the morning in connecticut and western massachusetts. they are starting to crawl into the worcester hills. as there will be in the northeast, they are beginning to break apart. for the afternoon, we will start out the afternoon with lots of sunshine. we will see some of those clouds begin to show up. especially in the worcester hills and the city of boston. holding on to the sunshine for the remainder of the day. it is a cool afternoon. temps between 45-50. the city this afternoon, 48. nashua at 47. tomorrow, a lot of clouds. but not as chilly with showers arriving tomorrow evening. temperatures tomorrow in the mid-50's. we will talk more about the showers in a few minutes.

>> christa: right now some breaking news in dighton. this is just coming into our newsroom. there is an active death investigation going on. crime scene officials are at that site. you see it off of this dirt road. they also have some crime scene tape there off the wooded area. we will continue to take a look at this situation and bring you any new information as we get it right here. >> jadiann: more news today. two people are cuffed and in custody after a bullet hits the window of an apartment building in quincy. now, this is the shattered window of the fourth floor on hancock street last night. no one was hurt. officials at the army reserve center in worcester now say all security measures were in place and working during last weekend's break-in. a sporxperson tell it is worcester telegram the alarm system went off at the time of the theft. he says now they are looking into it. ten hand gurns and six rifles were stolen. the governor says the bidding was under construction which made it more vulnerable. crews respond to a large fire and apartment building in worcester.

>> jeremy: good afternoon. for the afternoon, lots of sunshine. another cool afternoon. weather system on the way tomorrow brings clouds tomorrow and then i think some rain tomorrow night. also bringing some milder air. whoa. that was cold this morning. norwood had a low of 16. boston, 31. we haven't been that cold in about a month. it is our coldest tenture of this month in november. back on october 19, we also had a low of 31. worcester, 30 this morning. orange, 16. into the 40's with the sunshine. the city at 46. norwood at 50 degrees. bedford, 49. a bit of a shock to the system. when you look at the first half of the month. a lot of our morning temperatures have been 40's and 50's. which is above normal. only over the last five mornings have we seen lows into the teens, 20's and 30's. that is actually where we

again, november starting out, at least the first 15 days, our third warmest start in the month of november. unreal. so things will settle down a little bit, though. i don't think we will have continued warmth like. that this weather system over here now genering clouds and showers through the great lake states. that will bring in some milder air. that is on the move. more so tomorrow night than tomorrow. today, sunny skies. tonight, clouds on the increase. here is that weather system getting closer to us. even at 2:00 tomorrow afternoon, rain still west of boston. pittsfield. that system quickly zips through southern new england tomorrow night and early at one time, i thought friday hours. now i think the rain moves out of here by about 8:00 or 9:00. then we see clearing skies during the day on friday. friday is salvageable. turning into a nice afternoon. and a mild afternoon as well. with temperatures on friday heading for the upper 50's. so again, we should be around 51 today.

>> christa: new pictures show police in paris carrying out a raid on terror targets. two suspects were killed and 7 arrests in the 7-hour siege. officials believe the possible mastermind in friday's horrific attack may have been inside the apartment that was targeted in that raid. police believe members of this cell were planning yet another attack. richard engel has the latest. >> reporter: amateur video captured the heavy gunfire when elite french forces raided an apartment outside paris this morning. the main target, officials say, was the alleged mastermind of the paris attacks. as the raid began, a woman in the apartment blew up a suicide vest. police ordered residents to stay inside. anyone who approached was told in no uncertain terms, to back away. neighbors, many of them muslim

police and searched. we stopped a man rushing down the street. he said in arabic, he witnessed the whole thing. >> i saw the raid. 20 cars passed by here. then five minutes later, the shooting started, he said. "you heard the gunfire"? i asked? "i saw it with my eyes," he said. neighbors say this is the apartment where the raid targets were holed up. the main target was abdelhamid abaaoud, the mastermind behind the paris attacks. a belgian national. he had gone to syria to join isis. as day was breaking, the raids seemed to be winding down. but then several explosions echoed through the streets. it's common in situations like this for police to use grenades or small charges in order to set off booby traps that the suspects may have set

a few isolated showers very late in the day. more likely tomorrow night from this weather system. we will talk more about that in a few minutes. >> christa: a man from beverly accused of trying to kill his estranged wife. appearing in court. the 45-year-old axel shearer was charged with attempted murder and strangulation. he claims that his wife took $200,000 from their joint bank account and apparently, tried hide it from him. he will be in court on november 24. the attack happened monday night in beverly: police say that shearer entered a home on penny lane and tried to strangle his estranged wife and later reported to police he had killed her. taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. >> jadiann: a vermont toddler died in a car crash after the mother failed to put him in a proper safety seat. sympathy for a mother who

tragically under this type of circumstance. the message is that the law will hold every parent accountable for not properly securing their children. yard is the mother pled not guilty to involuntary manslaughter among many other felony charges. >> christa: the trial of nathaniel kibby, he is accused of kidnapping and raping a new hampshire teenager for several months back in 2014. a judge has denied the request to remove the prosecuteor in the case. kibby's attorneys wanted the prosecutor removed because kibby is also accused of threatening her. however, prosecutors said it had nothing to do with the case and the judge agreed with that. kibby's attorneys also asked the judge to throw out more than 50 pieces of evidence, including jail phone conversations and a laptop, and guns allegedly taken from his home. a decision on that evidence will be made during a later court date. >> jadiann: disturbing developments in an unsolved murder case in new hampshire

police released new images of four people found in metal drums. at a new hampshire state park investigators say they have determined when the victims were killed. they have also discovered that three of the victims are police hoping the new information will generate new leads in the case. >> these four people would have been together in the last two weeks to approximately three months of their lives. people before. they know. >> jadiann: investigators are performing more d.n.a. testing relationship between the four victims. >> christa: a high school principal in maine is off the allegations. student for sex. fired the high school principal during a public hearing on monday. the student claims he propositioned her on the first day of school. police also says he is accused of engaging in similar behavior while working at a high school up in new

hampshire. >> they have reviewed some documents also, as they have investigated these allegations. and intend to interview at least two more alleged victims. >> i felt that the... just alluding to the allegations tainted the process a bit. been filed. but police are still investigating. >> jadiann: updating a story that was first on 7: a after suffering head, neck, and back injuries in an accident in lowell. police say an elderly woman drove around construction cones on route 110 tuesday and nearly hit an officer before hitting a bob-cat construction vehicle. as a result, the bob-cat was launched into a group of construction workers. witnesses believe the car's speed was to blame. >> too fast driving.

>> she was crying saying "oh, my god. oh my god." were hurt. both suffered minor injuries. >> christa: a police chief wanted to motivate his officers. he offered them a reward. arrests in the month of october would get a weekend off in november. but the police union was against it. the chief shut it down. and people who live in abington wonder if officers simply would have gone out of their way to arrest more people. >> i think it is a very bad thing. i mean, if they are looking to arrest more people than they really need to. >> this is abington. a small little town. they are just corrupt. >> you couldn't make up an arrest. certainly, if an officer made

problem. >> christa: a woman in new jersey is thankful her ten-month-old daughter is doing okay after she was forced to throw her baby from the balcony as flames tore through their apartment. the only way to escape tuesday was from that balcony. she tossed her daughter to a police officer who was waiting on the ground below. fortunately, the officer was able to catch her. >> she was just... just drop her. just drop her." i was so scared she would not catch her. >> christa: all eight units in the bidding were destroyed. part of the ceiling collapsed

>> christa: a blizzard shut down the freeways in kansas. like a ghost-town there. this is an interstate that was closed after drivers were caught in some strong winds here. nearly a foot of snow has fallen in some parts of the state. of course, the visibility in a blizzard that makes it a blizzard when the visibility is next to nothing. >> jadiann: i know. i lived in that part of the country for a while. i'm sure you experience that here. it is awful on the roads. >> christa:, well, when you get in that terrain, right? there is no trees or anything to block it. you have the snow blowing all over. that makes driving pretty tricky. >> jeremy: yes. certainly, wild weather in the western part of the united states. most of the storm system is now a rain-maker. that's what it will be for us
