phones in school at thatge. >> it's really up to the patients, i think, to take more action and monitor what their children are doing. >> and berman out of there now using this as an education toocialg even educating their kids down to the middle school level to let them know doing this sort of stuff is very inappropriate. in andover this afternoon, kelly o'hara, 7news. a home in manchester new hampshire going up in flames. fireration through the house this morning. a police officer discovered that fire. and a good samaritan helped get people out of the building. all six people inside were able to get out safely. and in braintree, a fire department says one family lived in a home that burned. you can see multiple firefighters and trucks on the scene. no word yet what caused that fire. also on 7, some towns in the metro west all shiewng after an earthquake, the center of the magnitude 1.5 quake was on the holiston mills line a little after 8:00 last night. no damage or injuries were reported but it startled many people in the area.

>> all of a sudden, it felt like a big, a second and a half, maybe two seconds boom, like maybe something crashed somewhere. it kind of lasted too long. this was just a whoom... like it was weird. you could tell something's off. >> in new england a few earthquakes 3 points or less is expected each year. a principal in waterville maine was fired during a public hearing monday. police say he's accused of engaging in similar behavior while working at a high school in new hampshire. >> they've reviewed some documents as they've investigated these allegations, and intend to interview at least two more alleged victims. >> i felt that the -- just the alluding to the allegations tainted the process a bit. >> ryder denies any wrong-doing.

he's on paid leave starting at beginning of the school year. he was on paid leave. so far no charges have been filed but police are still investigating. new at 4:30, the fbi searching for clues in connecticut after a mosque was should want just hours after the terror attacks in paris. police say several bullets hit the mosque, which was empty at the time, and even though no one was hurt, detectives are determined to find the person responsible. at mosque with the large american flag in the front entrance, tuesday afternoon preyers along with crime scene tape and bullet holes. >> it has a different feel to it. you know, it's kind of like -- it's as if terrorism is hitting closer to home. >> reporter: iman halik along with other members of the mosque took a closer look at the damage after police say someone fired off rounds at mosque in the hours following friday's terror attacks in paris.

school officials say they haven't received any direct threats, however, they did reveal that he displayed an unloaded antique firearm while drunk late last month. anybody. he wasn't threatening anybody with it. it sounds like he was brag being it. >> we were able to go back and recover the weapon from an off-campus residence at that point and brought the weapon back to campus, confronted mr. marburger about the weapon. >> marburger's father says this incident is coming after a difficult week for student. he was just kicked out of his fraternity and resigned from student government. also three high school boys in georgia are facing felony charges for secretly recording the girls' locker room. officers say the freshmen boys climbed into the ceiling above the locker room and recorded the footage last month. according to police, the girl spotted them when a ceiling tile fell. country. a woman in new jersey is thankful her 10-month-old daughter is okay after she was

frosted to toss her from the balcony as flames to through their apartment. she says the only way was to escape through the balcony. she tossed her daughter to a waiting police officer and the officer was able to catch that baby. >> just drop it, just drop it. i was so scared he would not catch her, just drop it. >> all eight units in that building were destroyed, part the ceiling collapsed and fell on to two firefighters there. but they were not hurt. an attorney appears to be forced to the ground by a sheriff's deputy in a courtroom in california. the surveillance video shows the state attorney speaking with the defense attorney. you see it right there, the sheriff's department says she was speaking loudly in an unprofessional manner when she was asked to leave the courtroom but refused and that's when she was taken into custody. the california department of justice is now reviewing the incident. a 64-year-old grandmother facing off with a much younger carjacker in missouri. the whole thing was caught on surveillance video. the attacker got away with the woman's car but not before she

put up a hard fight. >> and i looked at the man and said get out of the car, but -- and i thought, like, is there an emergency? is the place being robbed? >> she thought the man was warning her about something. she feared for her mentally challenged daughter, who had gone into the store to buy something to drink. then she says the suspect demanded her keys and said he had a gun. >> i said, really. i said, go away, leave me alone. and i was going to try to shut the door. and that's when i realized i couldn't get the door shut. and so i started kicking and screaming and beeping the horn. >> and you just want to say you messed with the wrong grandma because she was a tough cookie. a real tough cookie and very determined to hang on to her car. >> that's when he yanked on my clothes and ripped them and pulled me out and threw me to the ground drove off. >> reporter: she staggered into the gas station and called police. police say her onstar system tracked the car to north st. louis. the 26-year-old suspect was still inside. police say he had confessed to the crime.

>> peed, what's going on with the weather tonight? a quiet night tonight, ryan and nancy. looks like we'll have our temperatures slowly rise toward morning. so none of this business, that's for sure. he practice at 16. lunenburg, actually dipped to the 16 according to mark out there, millis at 20 this morning. braintree at 20. we're also 20 out in natick. the coldest night of the season last night, highs 50s. well, at least some spots. we did not make it to 50 in boston. we were there in plymouth, though, close to it in hyannis, a little bit of a sea breeze today to keep us cooler but a nice recovery. starting off in the teens. temperatures warm up but only temporarily. temperatures will slide going into the weekend. a nice band of rain. when it's long like this, i mean, almost the width of the

to south distance, i should say, from the gulf of mexico to the great lakes, this is when it gets kind of funky because it's almost unstable in the sense, that you know, there's too much rain to move along and inch along that long of a distance. so what's gonna happen is there will be an area of low pressure that forms along that band of rain that enhances a small portion of it, see what i mean, watch this, low moves along the front. it forms just in the nick of time to come into new england. and i'm optimistic about this and this feature giving us a good soaking but it fades out too, not strong enough to hold together and create a whopper size storm as it heads towards halifax. for our neighbors there, it looks like the rain won't as impressive but still weather coming your way late, late tomorrow night. for us it comes into the afternoon. 2:00 we had some sprinkles breaking out. won't be a hard process for winds out of the southeast. it may be a little bit earlier out through worcester with a southeast wind coming up against those hills. we can start squeezing out little droplets and patches of drizzle early in the afternoon,

maybe even towards lunchtime. the steadiest rain will wait until we get into the late evening hours. here you are closer to 10:00, 11:00 and this is when that low forms and gives us a good soaking. 2 inches would be close to too much, i think, 1.8, 1.7, that might be a little generous, but generally 3/4 to an inch of rain. again, that model that i just showed you might be a little heavy handed. drought says we need every drop. most of connecticut in connecticut right now. every drop is badly needed. tomorrow 54 degrees. a mini warm-up. you won't really feel it until friday after some morning showers. much milder getting close to 60 degrees. not as cold clouding over tonight, 35 and 43 and tomorrow 53 to 57 degrees. cloudy and breezy with showers arriving late and maybe a couple of race of sun, but not really crazy about that idea either.

very slow ride. heading out to the masspike, westbound, brake lights here, as well, but no breakdowns or crashes thankfully heading on to 128. i'm joe stapleton, 7news. in today's healthcast alarming research finds 15% of women are raped while under the influence of drugs or alcohol during their first year of college. the study of 500 freshmen found those who have been rape victims before college were more likely to be assaulted again. young women who said they believed alcohol enhance as sexual experience were also at a higher risk of intoxicated rape. >> researchers say those who use different forms of tobacco are exposed to more nicotine and dangerous toxins than cigarette users. smokeless tobacco users are at a higher exsure to a toxin known to cause cancer. a key to living a long life could be drinking more coffee. >> that's what we wanted to hear. >> as i get my fourth cup of the day.
