11:15 am
getting everything rolling. there are a lot of moving parts when you do something like this. but that's where she was located. >> we heard that she was last seen at 3:00 a.m. but you got the call at 7 a.m. and is that when the parents may have called you? >> that's one of the piece that's we're still trying to put together. i don't have that answer. >> where are her parents right now. >> going to the hospital as we speak. parents. >> i can't tell you if we got strike that. there was a telephone call from her parents. >> was she taken from her home. >> i don't know if she was taken from the home or if she wandered off just yet. and i would like to leave it at that if i could. >> what condition was she in? >> honestly, i haven't been there and didn't see her, and if i said something, i can't tell you its factual. so if i could leave it at that right now, folks. >> reporter: can you tell us the
11:16 am
is it a concerning moment? what's your reaction? >> as it pertains to how i feel about it? i'm excited that she was found alive, and excited that she has been reunited with her parents, and until i know the outcome of the investigation, i'm very concerned. and as a parent, i feel very much for these parents. i'm happy that we reunited her with the family. >> is there a concern in this town that somebody grabbed a two-year-old little girl and took her from her house? to get x number of miles away, there has to be a concern. >> as the chief of police in this town, i'm very connected to the people who live in this town. i've been here for six years as the chief of police. and if i thought the parents should be concerned, i would be the first one. so right now, no, you don't need to be concerned. >> reporter: is that connected -- >> i haven't heard that.
11:17 am
ongoing, but are there charges pending? how -- >> like i said, it's like a jigsaw puzzle and a bunch of the pieces are missing. >> can you tell us what you were told about the little girl? what's her spirit like? is she alert? >> when i'm done here, i'm going to find that out. >> who found her at this location. >> i don't have that information. >> you said along the road, someone would have seen her? >> someone called it in, and i don't know who called it in. i don't know who called it in. i would consider everything, and in law enforcement, you tend to look at it. otherwise, yes. i would like to stop right now. i need to get back to doing my job, which is to find out what's going on. >> i think that we'll get more questions. and as the chief explains, a lot of moving parts, and our
11:18 am
interest is definitely to vet the investigation as thoroughly as possible. >> can you tell us if she taken. >> that's all part of the investigation. these are all valid questions, and it's under investigation, and it's being obviously treated as a crime scene, and until we find out what happens. if it does turn out to be a criminal act, we have preserved evidence and taken all of the proper steps for a criminal prosecution. we have numerous local hamilton officers, and state police detectives conducting a very sensitive investigation on multiple fronts right now. the investigation involves conducting saves, and processing various locations and evidence. and while that's ongoing, we are not at liberty to provide you with details. so i think that we're all set for that. thanks. >> any other -- >> all right, we have been listening to officials give an
11:19 am
update on the case that we have been following all morning long. you're looking at her here. two-year-old lyndon alvarez, and she was last reported missing at 7 a.m., and she was last seen at 3:00 a.m. she lives on lincoln avenue. and we have an update for you from beverly hospital that linden is in fair condition, so good news there. and she's currently being reunited with her parents as we speak. we understand that she was found just as authorities were getting ready to issue an amber alert. she was found alive in an area where passersby could find her, and the police chief of hamilton said that someone called it n no word on who it was, and obviously, this is an active ongoing investigation with many moving parts. you could hear the urgency and the vogueses of both the police chief and the mass state police saying that they're still trying to figure this out.
11:20 am
we have a team of reporters on it right now, and jennifer egan has been all morning long on the lincoln avenue in south hamilton, and steve cooper, you heard him, he's at this press conference in south hamilton as the police are giving an update. so just to recap, if you're just tuning in, linden alvarez is her name. last seen at 3:00 this morning, reported missing by her parents, and the police say that they got the call in around 7:00 a.m. presumably as they were waking up, and you can imagine the kinds of conditions in the overnight hours. we saw lots of rain and stormy conditions, and she was reported around 7 a.m. by her parents. we have been following this all morning long as they have continued to reunite them. and the good news, the update that we just got, that little
11:21 am
her parents, being reunited as we speak. so 7's steve cooper is standing by, and let me make sure that she's ready to go. steve, are you all set for us? >> yeah, we're all set, nancy. you heard the chief, giving us an update with the police chief. and basically, what they told us, the two-year-old has been taken to beverly hospital. and we're told that her patients are going there to be reunited with her. in the news conference off-camera, she did confirm that also in the house overnight was the two-year-old's sister, a four-year-old girl, and she's okay, and her parents as well. now, the police are trying to piece this whole thing together. there's a lot of information that they couldn't reveal in the news conference, for example, who found the toddler sometime around 10:00 this morning, and
11:22 am
hamilton to that scene in rowley, which is where she was locate odd the side of the road, according to our sources, and again, her condition is unclear right now, and we asked the police chief if people in the should be concerned for any reason. but he has to go back in and get more information on exactly what was happening here. but again, right now, we do know that the detectives assigned to the essex county district attorney's office, they're involved in this investigation here, and we don't know if they're questioning anybody right now, but they're certainly trying to get answers to the questions that we're all wondering, which is how did that toddler get from her home in the middle of the night from hamilton to the place where she was located. and the police won't say how she was found, but it's an active investigation, and the chief is trying to piece everything together before they're able to answer any of those questions.
11:23 am
>> all right, coop. a lot of moving parts, and in the meantime, we return you to your latest programming and will join you for 7 news at noon. >> whoa. >> yeah. >> was it hard to get that one in. >> when you mentioned being broadway, i was british as well when i did that. so i got to relearn all of that. >> is this a real woman from 1620, right, who came over to this country. >> absolutely. >> and how do you research a character like that? >> i read a lot of books. obviously we did it some wikipedia and all of that stuff. but i learned so much about the mayflower and the journey and how much of a struggle it really was. for instance i didn't know that the may flower itself was mainly meant for cargo. it was never meant to carry people. >> i didn't know that either. >> that's all very interesting, but i'm more interested in your shoes.
11:24 am
>> she has some crazy hot kicks. who makes those. >> those are sophia webster i think. they're confident about mfortable, too. they lace and they tie up. it took a while to get in them. >> so you were buff on broadway. was it totally unnerving to be standing there in front of a live audience? >> us special especially when you knew somebody in the audience? >> one time at curtain call, there were sheets on stage and i turned around and i see a guy that i went to college with. oh, man, really, why did you have to pick that seat? >> could we please promise a pitch perfect 3? >> yes. pitch perfect 3 is definitely happening. i don't know in aubrey will be back. i hope so. i would love to do it.
11:25 am
obviously i didn't have a clue it was going to continue and become a franchise, but it's such a great movie and such a great movie for girls. and i had the best time shooting it. >> i'd be sneaking around trying to find out. >> who says i'm not doing that. >> you love singing. >> i do. >> what do you sing in the shower? >> i get nervous when i'm onset or something, but i always sing strangers in the night. like i don't know why i do that. it's always in my head. >> and it starts this sunday on national geographic channel. >> how to go from day to night in an instant. >> that's right after this. t this hair through a lot, every day. that's why i need total repair. l'oreal's total repair 5 shampoo system with ceramide fights weak, dry, dull, rough hair - and split ends... with l'oreal total repair 5 my hair feels strong... tip.
