that starts back in burlington. the backup coming back down to route 9 in wellesley. northbound traffic has been heavy as well back into the dedham area. both ways there in the center of the screen on that expressway ride. more than a 40 minute commute down into braintree. route 93 north and south on the right there on the zakim bridge dealing with delays here in the city but leaving town up into medford and storrow drive to the left. i'm joe stapleton, 7 news. also on 7, a trouble after threatening to kill his teacher. the incident has parents on edge because they say no one knew. >> kelli o'hara is live with what happened. reporter: good afternoon. that teen brought a ten inch knife to school police tell us and told his classmates he wanted to kill his teacher. >> it's scary, you know.

it's scary especially nowadays. >> it's kind of shocking of you read it. scary especially on school property. >> parents in rockland reacting to this, a knife police say that was brought on the school property by a middle school student. >> a statement that he wanted to harm one of the teachers there. >> kill a teacher. >> yeah, basically wanted to kill a teacher. so at that point felt it was appropriate. reporter: back on november 10th a 13-year-old boy brought into knife to the school parking lot and said he wanted to hurt his teacher. another child saw and herd the teen's alleged threats who told his parents who then called police. they took these threats very seriously. parents we spoke to say say they didn't take it seriously enough because they weren't informed about it. >> i'm surprised. something like that should be made aware to the parents. >> i wasn't pleased.

it was nerve-racking to think your kids are here and something like that goes on and you don't even get a call. >> i think we should know something about that, especially if it property. reporter: the school's superintendent told us they notify parents on a case by case basis, and because this happened in the school parking lot, that's why they didn't tell they are cooperating with the police. as for that boy, he's this week. kelli o'hara, 7 news. a framingham woman facing charges for allegedly using her children to help her shop lift. christine taylor pleaded guilty to shoplifting $250 worth of merchandise in the natick mall. police say her four young which i know were used to help her hide items in a baby stroller a jury found owen la brie guilty of using a purity to lure the girl that. required him to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

the incident was set to happen just before he was set to graduate school last year. officials in maine shy someone has died from eee. they did say the person was at least 65 years old and died in october. it is the first death cause bid eee ever in the -- caused by eee maine. mayor walsh and other city leaders meeting today to share coming winter. last year we saw close to ten feet of snow crowding the streets, making getting around difficult, if not impossible. this year new equipment and better plans will problems heavy snowfall can cause. the mayor speaking today about the new snowblowers the city has bought that will help keep the streets clear. >> these new snowblowers will be giving us the

ability not to be pushing snow but be along. as far as the cost efficiency, it's going to be saving money long-term. >> officials discuss their plans for keeping the homeless and elderly populations of the city safer this winter and said that even though there is a higher snow budget this year, they are hoping, as are we all, not to have to use that extra money. i'm adam williams, 7 news. students at brandeis university staging a sit-in at the school's administrative center. the sit-in began after several hundred students said the administration has failed to address concerns over racial inequality. several mbta board members want to make fares more fair. right now students and senior citizens can get a reduced fare but everyone else pays the

who fired at tulane medical student peter gold was taken into custody after federal marshals raided the house. >> i couldn't be more proud that we not only caught him quickly but it was done without incident and no one got hurt. >> not a shot fired. >> not a shot fired. reporter: police say his girlfriend is being charged as an accessory. according to authorities cane made a full confession saying he was the one seen dragging a woman down the street and told them he was the one who turned his gun on peter gold, shoot him once in the stomach and shooting him a second time and third time but the gun jammed, likely sparing his life. >> it looked like -- >> he was going to kill him, there's no question. the guy that did this is a cold-blooded killer and i would call it domestic terrorism. >> tulane university released a statement praising gold for his courage when he tried to

caught on camera a young boy is just devastated of his ipad is suddenly smashed at a south florida mcdonald's. a man stealing it when the seven-year-old walked away. he says he was saying hello to a classmate when he made the move. >> daniel knox has a closer look. i got distracted. reporter: most seven-year-olds

love their ipads. most seven-year-olds get distracted pretty easily as well. when he left his ipad on a table to play with a friend, he didn't realize there was a man nearby playing a different game. >> i put it down and then somebody grabbed it and stole it. >> he was in the restaurant with my sister that day, and she went to the counter to order the food. he was at the table. he saw another classmate, he turned his head to wave at the other classmate, and when he did, that someone came and took the ipad from him. reporter: it happened november mcdonald's. as you can see, he put the table down on the table near the playground, he leaves it there. that's when the thief leaves with the ipad. >> when he saw the boy left the ipad unattended and like a real winner, he got up and stole the ipad.

it's not a trend. we do have that warming trend as we go through the holiday. sharply colder for the weekend as a front crosses bringing us back to temperatures like this. yeah, overall the month has been warm. this is a semi cold spell within that warm pattern which is still averaging about five degrees above normal. a few of these do make it to get in front of our moonlight but nothing too big. tomorrow like today a struggle to get into those mid 40s. we start off in the teens and 20s. 43 in worcester. out of the 30s at least. what we're seeing is a sea breeze. your warmest temperatures will be through lowell and framingham and lowell too. it looks like through cape cod with a breeze off the water we still make those upper 40s. tomorrow starts bright and it looks like these clouds will start to sneak up on us as we go into thursday. thanksgiving day, does

through newton and waltham looking at more than an hour and 15 minutes to go from route three down to route nine. this was all set up by an earlier crash right by route 290. a little closer to home the mass pike west-bound, a lot of brake lights. again clearing route 495. i'm joe stapleton, 7 news. in today's health cast, childhood leukemia, it's two words parents dread. >> a woman found out her daughter was the youngest ever. >> she was diagnosed six weeks before she was supposed to be born. >> she weighed two pounds under weight. to her parents that was the least of the worries. >> she had brain bleed. her white cells were shooting up way higher than what normal is.

determine the cause of her high blood cell count so her parents took her to the st. louis children' hospital for a second opinion. >> everything was coming back negative. reporter: but after two weeks the doctors came to a conclusion and told parents the one word they never wanted to hear. >> she weighed three pounds at the time so that made her the youngest and the smallest to fer been diagnosed with this type of cancer. it only accounts for 1% of all childhood cancers. reporter: a string of chemo appointments began along with exploratory surgery around her stomach that removed her spleen. >> she's going to be on penicillin for the rest of her life. reporter: doctors said she would need a bone marrow transplant in order to live but chefs grossly under weight for the procedure. it wasn't until october that they found a
