local leaders are trying to reassu the public that they will be safe. >> i want the people to know entering the holidays that the combined resources are on the occasion. >> reporter: president obama speaking from the white house trying to reassure the american public that in the wake of attacks abroad, people should feel safe during the holidays. >> law enforcement professionals at every level are working overtime. they are continually monitors threats at home and abroad. >> reporter: travelers braving long lines today at logan airport more concerned with delays than terror. >> i try not to think about it. you know, i guess if i was going to europe, i would be. but i'm not really concerned about it right now. >> i'm not terribly concerned about it. we made a point to get here extra early today just to go through the lines, which are huge. leaders addressing concerns. bay state is safe.

>> there is no credible threat. it's been discovered with respect to certainly massachusetts and the rest of the country. >> reporter: boston mayor marty walsh reminding residents that officers are on alert. >> while we're making sure the streets are safe, we're also controlling the community neighborhoods. so i have great confidence in the boston police department and the way they handle it and certainly the challenges they have. >> back out here live at the jetblue terminal, you can see again those short lines. that's the good news if you are traveling tonight because it should be going pretty smoothly for you, if you still have to make your way here to logan. but the tsa is saying that if you do have to fly tonight, get here at least two hours early, just in case there are any added delays. that's the latest live in logan, nick emmons, 7news. let's fly out to the roads. are there any back-ups we should worry about? this shot looks good anyway. let's check in with joe stapleton. >> that's right.

westbound cruising along very nicely right near exit 17 out of the newton area. not moving badly out by 128 or 495. taking to the maps we do see some sluggish volume on the westbound side of the pike tight going out in the oxford area. auburn. nearby. the rest of the ride moving along nicely and downtown we have good news for you. 93 northbound and southbound bridge. no major hang-ups here on the up or down ramps. joe stapleton, 7news. and weather looking good for holiday travel, too. >> there are no signs of storms to get in your way, at least if you're traveling in new england. let's check the forecast with chief meteorologist pete bouchard. >> i have some cold temperatures already now to freezing in norwood, plymouth and hyannis. the vineyard, as well, 38 in beverly 42 in brnz.

a thin ribbon of clouds coming off man tax point and block island. they don't look like much but once we get a southeast wind, we'll continue to watch it grow, for one and then push it into southern new england for tomorrow. see how it goes coming up, and then spreading out as we go through tomorrow. not an entirely cloudy forecast. there will be a few rays of sun, but look at the temperatures, 40s turn to 30s and by morning we'll bounce it back into the lower 40s. peeks of sun, probably the brightest part of the day will be in the morning, then a mostly cloudy sky. there aren't any showers in the forecast for thanksgiving. but there may be some as we go into saturday. we'll take a look at the forecast ahead. >> all right, pete. 7news in worcester where police are looking for a hit-and-run driver who left an officer injured this morning. the victim was directing traffic at grafton and franklin streets. kelly o'hara is live in worcester with more on a search

that's going on tonight. tbhaz a scary situation. the officer was out here working as a car drove by and hit him and he was meat immediately rushed to the hospital. you can see reconstruction teams out on the roadway right there trying to figure out exactly what happened. we are told that a police officer is working construction detail right near downtown underneath i290 when a car drove by, hit him and just kept on going. we are told by people out here the officer radioed in for help and four minutes later he was taken to the hospital. all police will say officially about the accident is that he's a minor and he is home from the hospital safe and pound and will his family. reporting live in worcester, keli o'hare , a 7news. a judge sentenced owen lebri to one year in jail and register as a sex offender. a jury convicted lebri of an assault in concord

new hampshire. lebri is free while appealing. sky 7 over the scene of two fires today. a home caught fire this morning in sharon. crew its put the flames out pretty quickly but you can see damage to the roof there. thankfully no one was hurt. in lynn flames breaking out in a two-story building just before 10:30 this morning. smoke was just pouring out of that roof. the building is near the lynn english hig school. >> a long-time organizer of the annual st. patrick's day day parade has died. john hurley is a vocal opponent of gay groups marching in the parade of 1995. hurley's crusade to ban gays went to the u.s. supreme court which sided with him at the time. he was 85. three people facing charges in connection with hundreds of items allegedly marked for resale at a store in chinatown. investigators say the women were selling stolen goods at their store to discounted prices. police arrested them last night following a 10-month investigation. officers went into my 10 fashion with a search warrant in

pete, you were saying the only issue people have weather-wise was solar glare, because there was a lot of sun out there today. >> and there will be very little tomorrow thanks to the clouds that roll in. southeast breeze at 8 miles per hour sued keep us from bottoming out in the city, at least. but already in dedham it's 35, same in wellesey. flicks wayland, not as cold tonight and not nearly as cold as the last two mornings we've seen. o the southshore, duxbury is 38, compares to 35 in foxboro and 34 in attleboro out through cape cod, in the middle 30s, and already at freezing up near vineyard haven. 41 in nantucket right now. gobble, gobble, hoping yours is good tomorrow. our temperatures start off right around 40 degrees. so whatever we have in the 30s should jump a little bit be and climb maybe closer into the upper 30s. boston we really won't cool off all that much and tomorrow it's a nice setup around 40 in the

for the afternoon with limited sunshine. i see a lot of clouds only because this wind direction out of the southeast is notorious for making cloud cover and bringing it into southern new england. especially this time of year. maybe it's april, right, the sun can fry right through those clouds and we'd have a partly sunny day tomorrow. but the sun is way too week this time of year. way too much to ask of it. the front that's coming down from quebec has this. rain and snow. but don't worry, it's only doing that because the cold is catching up. once the front starts moving, showers are expected. although, in northern new england we might, might have some wet flakes going into late friday night and saturday morning. for that reason and the fact that we have a few showers across southern new england on saturday morning, the travel is fair. not poor, both thursday, friday and sunday look great, though, for traveling. dry roads, temperatures at least on thursday mild, but then into the weekend, we cool it down. friday looks pretty mild, too

for black friday. about 62 degrees. degrees. so it's back up again but the recent three days of cold weather have really kind of squashed that very warm november that we've had. clear start, clouds arrive late. wind. tomorrow the southeast wind present and accounted for 10 to 18 miles per hour. about 53 to 58 should do it under mainly cloudy skies. 7 on 7 forecast. early showers on saturday, although, some of those may drag their feet, they're a little sleepy and may last until noontime. off and on, no the a washout day. then brightening in the afternoon. sunday 45. cool start to next week and more wet weather coming. have a good night. two days after leaving the game with what's been reportinged as a sprained left knee, danny amendola made a surprising appearance on the field today but did not participate in the game. as of tonight it is unlikely he

will play on sundays night. bad news for tom brady who could be without three of his top weapons in a stadium that's been a house of horrors for the three-time super bowl mvp. in seven career starts in denver, brady has come out on top just twice. a big reason why the broncos are the only team brady has a losing record against. 7's alex corddry has more on sunday night's showdown in the mile high city. >> there's nobody that has more respect for peyton than me. >> reporter: sunday night won't be the tom brady/peyton manning quarterback dual with manning recovering from shoulder injuries. >> it's a great player. we have injuries at different times, and it just happens to be this week. they won last week with the guy that they had in there. >> reporter: 25-year-old brach oswhileer, he showed leadership with a win over the bears last week and is it turn the ball over, something manny's done in every game this season. >> he looks like he has complete
