and more on how this all started, right? >> reporter: absolutely, nick. good evening! it all again friday night when worcester police called them and asked them to make an arrest. we were told police went to knock on his door and then heard a gunshot in the distance and heard him running away. they went in the house and discovered a massive arsenal of weapons. you can see them right there laid out on the table, a rifle, other guns, one covered in blood, a huge array of gun power, more ammunition to a bulletproof vest and a survival kit. there's a reason it became a top priority for them. take a listen. >> we heard a number of different things, he was fleeing to hide from the police and

john joins us from worcester with more on the scare on the street. >> reporter: they were trying to cross the street. a vehicle stops for them and that's when the crash happens. it's on chandler street in worcester. two women and some children. an suv stops to let them go they're only able to take several stems when a large truck rear-ends the vehicle ahead of it careening towards the children and women. luckily, they got out of the way just in time. >> i was in my basement and came up and thought i heard a commotion. i looked out the window and obviously there was a car accident. >> reporter: he caught it on the security cameras, recording from his front porch. he rushed outside to make sure everyone was okay. fortunately, they were. >> they said they called 911. i waited with them until the worcester fire arrived. they assisted them also.

>> reporter: he came inside to check the video and said this could have ended much worse. >> they grabbed them by looks like the collar and brought them back on to the sidewalk. and the other car couldn't -- was out of control when the truck hit it, so very lucky. i couldn't believe it. >> reporter: he is a former firefighter and said there's a lesson here. >> even though you have the green light, up to look both ways. a perfect example is right here. >> reporter: no one injured, just a very close call here. cold in denver. our chilly temperatures here will start to recover this week. we have rain in the forecast, too.

over the next couple of days brought the average temperature for november down to fifth place. we were vying for number one near the beginning of the month. everything evens out deeper into the month. we're still above normal, 43 in boston, 41 in worcester and with sunshine. tomorrow, not so much sun. clouds will dominate and wet weather getting to us, mild spells, too, and cold snaps, as well. it's the way the winter will work out here. i see the pattern already into december. we have our warm-ups and cooldowns. whether we sync up and get a storm in here remains to be seen. right now, seems like every time we warm up, we get wet weather. 42 mid cape. we're wary of clouds. they're in cape ann right now. and we'll see them spread out through the course of the night. there's always someplace that may have a holdout of sunshine, a few towns gather together for

a sunny start and eventually the clouds come in and shroud their sunshine. so eventually everybody will get under the clouds to some degree tomorrow. and then the showers come our way. not tomorrow but on tuesday, they arrive in the afternoon and evening. our steadiest rain could be tuesday night and into wednesday. we moderate the temperatures. expect our highs to move back up to near 50. clouds arrive late, 18-30, a cold one tonight. a few sunny breaks tomorrow, 38-246r789 and there's the 7 on 7 forecast, the temperature gets up near 50. and we may make the low 50s. there's the cold snap and the warm-up next weekend.
