more. than a hundred years, dozens of hunters are walking the woods with shotguns. looking for deer in the blue hills. >> they were each given one zone to be in out of five. there is five different managed zones. approximately, 3,000 acres. out of the 7,000 acres of the reservation. it is a controlled hunt approved by state agencies and local communities to cut down on overpopulation of deer. after a 201 study by the state division of fisheries and wildlife. >> they found that there was an average of 85 deer per square mile. put that in perspective. a healthy herd covers around 6-14 deer. >> reporter: a total of 89 hunters are out today and tomorrow. too many deer are eating up vegetation in the forest which can lead to wildfires and harm other animals. >> we are going to kill everything that is a problem for us? i don't think that is a good solution.

on the testimony today. >> reporter: yeah. that friend took the stand this morning. on the stand right now, the medical examiner. the medical examiner telling the jury that colleen ritzer was stabbed and strangled. calling it a painful death. the m.e. is the last witness the prosecution is going to call before resting its case. then the defense will return to call its witnesses. the medical examiner says colleen ritzer was stabbed and slashed repeatedly. >> to the neck area, there were 12 stab wounds. and four incised wounds. pressure was applied to the neck. report tt testimony was graphic. jurors shown ritzer's purple sweater. the same sweater they saw in the surveillance video as colleen chatted it up with her friend and fellow math teacher. the two women dressed in matching outfits for the school's spirit day.
