accused of stealing nearly $10,000 from a cash register at target. 18-year-old isa mendez pleaded not guilty to pocketing money from the registers at the stoughton target. police say she would charge customers full price but take half of the money for herself. mendez was released and back in court next month. an apartment building is up in flames. fire crews were on the scene of a fire at a six-unit apartment building. the heavy fire began this morning and firefighters were able to keep it contained to the top floor of the three-story building. none of the people inside were hurt. but one firefighter was injured while putting out the flames. >> there was one firefighter with a shoulder injury. we're hoping it's minor bust at the hospital now. six people were home at the time. they were all evacuated safely. we had a great job by the firefighters, impressive interior attack. >> fire officials are still working to determine the cause of the fire. the cofounder of the outdoor brand the north face has died.

hypothermia in a kayaking accident in chile. tompkins was an avid conservationist. he and his wife moved to chile 20 years ago to concentrate on environmental projects. he was 72 years old. caught on camera, an expectant mother injured after a bar brawl with another woman in pittsburgh. the two women started yelling at each other when the soon-to-be mother punches the other woman in the face. >> reporter: surveillance video shows two women arguing in a bar in a pennsylvania nightclub. witnesses say the women were fighting about facebook posts. one of the women, who was five months pregnant, leans in to yell in the face of the other who pumps her and the two begin fighting. the scene is violent. both women are kicked in the stomach. >> that's my child and it's not even here yet to defend itself. >> i've got bruises on my side. i got stitches in my shoulder, cuts on my face. >> reporter: the pregnant woman says during the fight she was also stabbed. the club's manager says the video proved that did not happen during the incident despite what police say.

would be blood on the floor. there would have been blood on neither. >> the manager also says the expectant mother refused to stop fighting pointing to the video where she was being held back by security. the other woman has been charged in the attack on her mother and unborn baby. >> the mother was taken to the hospital after the fight and says her baby is okay. [ screaming ] >> it got out of hand pretty quickly, getting physical because of the election of a new town marshal. the former marshal there says he was wrongly fired. a motion passed to hire a new marshal and then that happened. >> things got a little out of hand. i just tried to ask a simple question as to why we terminated the town marshal in october. >> eventually this fight was broken up. then police showed up. a new town board takes over in 2016.

believed to have stolen some pricey gems. police say this man is a person of interest in the theft. more than $80,000 worth of gems were stolen from the cleveland museum of natural history last week. police are hoping someone can we're following more news today. police in rodchester new york working for a third straight day at the scene of a violent kidnapping of two college students. court document show the pair from university of rodchester were taken to a house where they were punched and beaten with objects for more than 40 hours. one ever the students shot in the leg, a police s.w.a.t. team stormed the house to make the arrest. >> this is a very unusual case. i mean, we are talking some serious charges here. 23 years doing this job, i mean, it was -- i can only imagine if it was one of my children. >> so six suspects have pled not guilty in connection with the abduction. police have not yet released a motive behind the kidnapping and violence that followed. a thief caught in the act,

police say this woman, seen stealing packages from her neighbor's doorsteps, is actually the wife of a florida police officer. investigators say the woman targeted another police officer and his wife. >> reporter: she's trying her best to hide now but the camera is rolling again on dana hager. friday night she didn't show that kind of shame when cameras caught her helping herself to boxes left outside a neighbor's front door. inside them, santa's loot, met for a florida cop's 2-year-old little girl. >> it's disgusting. >> reporter: danny thomas heads the central florida's wives group and -- hoping someone would recognize the woman and it did. >> asking for help. the irony hager is a cop's wife too. >> we don't get this wrong. it's horrible for one human being to steal from another human being as it is. but the fact that this was a law

that they lived in the same neighborhood, i would assume would have some type of understanding that they are law enforcement as well would steal from them as we are blue line family, and so passionate about that. so that was very disappointing to us. >> reporter: at her first court appearance in the case tuesday, reality started soaking in for the accused toddler toy porch pirate who a day before held a study day. >> you still have your job there? >> i probably will not, no. >> hager's bond is set at $7500 on that theft charge. she faces another judge for a probation violation related to a separate theft at a kohl's. a car driving off the road and right into the woods, an ohio driver says she swerved to avoid a deer and somehow her car ended new a tree. you can see where the car got stuck there. the tow truck was able to pull it down and the driver was flown to the hospital with a leg injury. a bus sent crashing into a building in atlanta. police say an ambulance driver transported a patient, fell
