>> she is going to be off her feet for a couple of days or weeks. >> reporter: initially, we were told osha would investigate what happened outside of this restaurant here. later on, we found out osha will not be investigating. no construction workers were injured. in malden, 7 news. >> christa: two people were hurt in wakefield after this serious crash on 128. after a car slammed into a guardrail. and then into flames. both victims were rushed to the hospital. police are now investigating the cause. also happening today: endicott college breaking ground on a new building named for the inspiration behind the ice bucket challenge. the new residence hall in beverly will be named for pete frats already frates this afternoon. he was diagnosed with als when he was 27. he has led efforts to raise awareness of the disease. the frates family is from beverly and will be on hand for today's ceremony. also, it was back to class today for more than a half million students in los angeles.

after a school threat shut down their entire district. officials say that a bomb threat came from overseas and prompted them to keep students at home. by the way that, e-mail was also directed to schools in new york. but officials there determined it was a hoax right away. homeland security wants a lower threshhold that will allow officials to notify the public. the federal reserve will decide today whether to raise interest rates for the first time in nine years. the historic announcement is scheduled for this afternoon. the decision could have an impact on home owners who may see an increase in mortgage rates. >> christa: a plane veers offer into a ditch moments after landing.

why this passenger plane rolled off the taxiway in tennessee tuesday night. southwest airlines flight 31 originating from houston, texas was taxiing to the gate and got stuck in a ditch after landing at nashville international airport. >> everything was normal. then we heard a big pop. >> christa: one of the plane's emergency slides deployed. fast spokesman for southwest telling nbc news, "the 1 passengers and five crew members were safely transported into the airport. the safety of our customers and employees remains our primary focus." eight passengers onboard were transported to a local hospital after suffering minor injuries. mostly bumps and bruisesst, according to the national fire department. >> it was really scary. but we were on the ground. it could have been a lot worse. >> christa: this comes days after another southwest flight made an emergency landing in san antonio, texas. that aircraft landed safely after part of the wing appeared to be at what the airline calls an irregular

and this has been a hard, hard thing for him. >> reporter: susan tran, 7 news. >> sarah: three suspects are behind bars accused of stealing packages from homes in south boston. the three men were seen ripping boxes open and stuffing the items into shopping bags. police later iified them. officials say if you expect a package and won't be home, don't let it sit on the door-step. >> christa: a grand jury investigation under way into the overdose of a teenager up in new hampshire. there is probable cause to charge a teen's mother and her boyfriend. meantime, the 17-year-old died back in october at a motel up in romp, new hampshire. that is where she used thaern her mother's boyfriend allegedly bought. >> sarah: jurors are dead-lockedded in the death of freddie gray.

the judge has ordered them to keep deliberating. officer william porter is charged with manslaughter after gray was injured and died while in police custody in april. he is the first of six officers to stand trial. as the city awaits the verdict, officials have been calling for peace and respect for the the city is preparing for unrest like the initially peaceful protest that turned into riots after gray's funeral. >> christa: a child pornography appeal from former subway spokesman jared fogle. last month, he was sentenced to 15 years behind bars after pleading guilty to child sex and pornography charges. fogle is also appealing a $175,000 fine. he is being held at a prison transfer facility out in oklahoma. >> sarah: a state of emergency in michigan. the city of flint deals with toxic levelsle of lead in the drinking water leading to sick children. >> declaire a state of emergency in the city of flint.
