rain but not as nearly as intense as we saw through the evening commute. a little bit of drizzle stretching from the merrimac valley, even in the city of boston, although err was beginning to see more and more lulls breaking on threw but it's a soupy air mass by december standards. visibility two miles in a lot of towns with areas of fog. look a these numbers. 51 degrees in the city of boston. that's 10 degrees above the average high temperature for this time of year. so i do expect a mild overnight. mid-parts start awfng the day tomorrow. as adam was mentioning, a couple of showers rolling in late morning through about mid-afternoon, especially along 95 east towards the coastline. so a couple of showers. then the colder weather awaits us over the weekend. but it doesn't last long. mild again in the seven-day forecast ahead. >> also tonight, a milton home goes up in flames. you can see the intensity of the flames there when it broke out earlier tonight, and we're learning a six-year old girl

escape where life. night team's tim compute oh was in milton. how is the little girl doing? >> that young girl was not hurt when is remarkable in this situation. she was home alone when that fire broke out. she apparent noticed the fire in her kitchen. she did exactly the right thing, ran outside her house and right right to a neighbor's home. a three-alarm fire lights up a milton neighborhood. a neighbor took this video as flames engulfed the entire back decks of both the bottom and top street. >> it was very intense. it got in walls and we were building. >> milton's fire deputy chief says a six-year-old girl was home alone on the first floor kitchen. >> the mother ran out to the store to pick up some groceries i was told, and luckily she was smart enough on get out of the house and to go to neighbor's house. >> reporter: a woman was also home in the apartment on the second floor. she ran outside after hear tech smoke detector go off. she called her fiancee while watching fire and smoke fill her home. >> she was crying.

on fire, and so i just left work and came straight here. >> reporter: no one was hurt. hours after the fire was out the six-year-old girl's mother returned to get a close look at the damage. >> pretty stephan. first and second floor totally destroyed. we had to rip down walls to get to the fire. >> reporter: the family on the second floor said they're not allowed back inside so they don't know how much their belong and can christmas gifts are now ruined. >> i hope we can salvage our stowft second floor. >> reporter: back live out here now, you see a fire truck still on this street behind me because that fire got into the walls of that home, they're keeping some firefighters here to make sure no hot spots flare up overnight. we're live tonight in milton, tim compute oh, 7news night team. >> we've been waiting a really long time. >> there has been an awakening. and new england is out in full force. >> better believe it. the anticipation, the hype all leading up to tonight for

close call for a stoughton family. a mom and her son heard this loud bang and they realized a bullet flew into their home. night team's john cuoco spoke to the the family and john's live in stwownt right now. >> i'm told this has been going on for years but after coming this close, this family wants it to stop. >> first of all, i heard a huge noise. >> reporter: that noise was a rifle bullet flying throughy of carol stephanec's kitchen 1. it rake shade off her cabinet is that correct a cabinet near the phone he was on five-minute earlier. >> i really thank god i was okay because i think it's very shattering. >> carol lives with her son scott. their home is located between two gun clubs, one in stwownt and one in easton. >> both clubs are over a mile away but these rounds travel for miles. >> reporter: scott says the

he has a collection to prove it. but this time it hit too close and he's had enough. >> the one that came into the window and almost got my mother it was the straw that broke the camel's back. >> reporter: stwownt stoughton police say their investigating to figure out which club, if any, the bullet came from. that includes reviewing footage from clubs, and they say the clubs are cooperating. scott, who is a member at one of the gun clubs, raised the issue with the stoughton board this week. he says he won't rest until the clubs take precautions to make it safer. >> you know, she lives with us and the least you can do is protect your mother. >> reporter: and we're also toll stoughton and easton town officials involved here. they'll be discussing this over the next couple of days. live in stoughton, john cookeo. >> also from the night team city leaders in boston sparking change for smokers. the board of health raising the legal age to i buy cigarettes to 21. the vote was unanimous. the night team ann susan tran live in boston with what smokers

they're accusing him of plotting terror attacks and helping the two shooters get the weapons they needed. night tami's ryan schultheis joins us. >> the suspect told investigator he had no knowledge of the terror attacks but the fbi said he bought the guns years ago that were used to murder 14 people. just weeks after that mass shooting in san bernardino, federal charges have now been filed against 24-year-old enrique marquez. he's the friend and former next door neighbor to syed farook. investigators say in late 2011 the two men were plotting to attack a college where both men had been students with pipe bombs and guns. the fbi says they also talked about tossing pipe bombs into stopped traffic on a highway during rush hour where they shot at people stuck in their cars. mark edz is also facing charges for violating gun laws when he bought the two assault rifle in 2011 and 2012 that were used in san bernardino shooting. the charges filed today say marquez and fa rookie continued

going to firing range but the two stopped plotting getting in 2012 after unrelated terrorist arrests in southern california. there is nothing in these charges that point to marquez knowing anything about the san bernardino attack. he's also charged with defrauding the government with a fake marriage. officials say his brother is married tie ukrainian woman whose sister is married to marquez. earlier today the president talked about the national stlet situation at the counterterrorism center. >> we cannot give in to fear or change how we live our lives because that's what terrorists want. that's the only leverage that they have. >> we also learned today that the bodies of the two attackers were buried in a secret location not far from where the shooting rampage took place. in the control room, ryan schultheis. >> the pharmaceutical ceo blasted for scraking up the price of live have lifesaving aids drug arrested on fraud charges. martin shkrelli faces 20 years in prison. he is accused of creating an

ballpark of half an inch of rain. half an inch, two-thirds of an urn of rain throughout much of eastern mass. beginning to see this system wind on down in terms of the steadiest, the heavy rest of the rain offshore but still patchy drildz and clouds in place and areas of fog. wet roads and drizzle stretching through the merrimack valley you at in into worcester. out through the blackstone valley, back into connecticut and rhode island at this time. visibilities two to four miles. i wouldn't call it dense fog. dense fog a quarter mile or less but we do have fog out there and from a distance it's tough to see some of the skyscrapers in the city of boston. no question about that. warm? it's a soup air mass for december no question there. 52 degrees in boston on a night in mid-december. you don't see that too often, right? off to the west of us 19 in the twin cities. that's the cold air that's going to be cruising there the great lakes and into new england over the weekend.

have to go through another round somer tomorrow. it won't be as widespread as what we saw earlier today and not as consistently bhift a few showers mainly along 95 and east toward the coastline from about mid-day to mid to late afternoon, and uk evan see north and west of 445 not have have 95 not out of the question that we get breaks of spun the closer to the coast the better chance of getting a couple of showers. saturday expecting a mainly dry day but look what's showing up on the maps. blues? that is lake effect snow. there's going to be enough energy and a lot of wind coming in that one or two of these snowshowers or flurries may survive the trip into southern new england. so i wouldn't be surprised to see a passing flurry or snowshower for a few towns. not bage deal. we're not expecting any document lating snow. as we go through christmas week what snow? mild air ruling the seven-day forecast. in fact, we're talking temperatures 50s to 60s as you get into next week.

tenth of an inch of snow in boston until january 13th. we're still far away from that record. but look at this in the city of wooforts. december 24th. the if we don't get a snowshower that drops a little bit of snow on saturday we are going to break that record. i think that's more likely than not to break that record at this point. 54 to dupuy tomorrow. 44 to 52 tomorrow. nothing says christmas like temperatures in the 50s to lower 60s. right, guys? >> you bet. looks good, chris, and so does this. our holiday helping at 7news. we are whipping up our favorite holiday recipes for a good cause. >> tonight danielle gersh is whipping up a great addition to any holiday breakfast. >> hi, everyone. welcome to our home. this is my dog sebastian. we're so excited for our first winter here in boston, and we're going to make my mom's famous banana bread today. it's a family tradition in our house. she always makes it during the holidays. 3 we're from california, and the second it starts to get cold,

cold there, she starts to make the banana bread. we thought why not bring the tradition to boston. let's head to the kitchen. we're going mix sugar, eggs, banana and oil, but before we do that we're going mash up the bananas. the riper the bananas, the better it tastes. i'm going to crack the eggs. we'll add the oil. now add the sugar. whisk it all together. you can see the bananas are starting to loosen up. i prefer to do this in one two bowls, one with the wet ingredients, one with the dry ingredients. we're going to combine the flour baking soda, cinnamon and salt. time to add everything together and then you add to add your chocolate chips. you can use butter scotch, peanut butter chips, white chocolate chips, anything you want put night a buttered and flowrd lf of loaf pan. then bake it in the oven at 350 degrees for abouty 35 minutes. bread is done. we've let it cool.
