11:02 pm
or if it was simply overinflated. workers at the auto center were quite shaken up. quite something you are expecting to happen at 7:45 in the morning. you kiss your kids before you go to bed. you know, it's a terrible time of year. the week before christmas. for it to happen. >> understandably, sears closed for the rest of the day. osha is now being called in to investigate. we are live from salem, new hampshire, brandon gunnoe, 7 news night team. >> new at 11:00: a new bedford disturbing discovery inside his home. investigators say they found animal remains stored in a shed outside danny santos' home. and that's not all. inside, police found a number of malnourished animals living police were initially investigating santos in connection with a series of neighbors say they are shookd by what happened.
11:03 pm

11:04 pm
to the bickering back and forth. maybe that's normal politics in washington. >> in light of recent attacks in the u.s. and abroad, moderators then focused their questions on national security and foreign policy. specifically, isis. >> i have a plan that i have put forward to go after isis. not to contain them but to defeat them. >> the first task is to bring countries together to destroy isis. >> we have to bring a modern way of getting things and forcing thing the sharing of information and do a much better job of acting on it. >> followed up by talks on gun control. likely, the most heated topic. >> what we immediate is not more polls. we need more principle. >> there is a broad consensus on sensible gun safety regulations. >> arming more people to do what i think is not the appropriate response to terrorism. >> of course, republican front-runner donald trump did not go unmentioned. >> he is becoming isis' best recruiter.

11:06 pm
about voters, the party apparently helped hillary clinton and that became a big story, bringing a lot more attention to a debate that was timed to be missed. bernie sanders won this debate by doing what he does best. being honest and passionate, plus gracious. he did apologize to clinton for his staff's role in the data breach, but then he accused the democratic party of crippling his campaign. by extension, that is a charge against her, too. hillary clinton is the democrats' most experienced candidate. so she is the favorite to win every one of their debates. which she usually does. but not this one. clinton lost because she did nothing to separate herself from the democratic party's leadership. going along to get along made her look less independent and less likable. she is formidable but flawed. and both were on display. by the biggest loser was the democratic party. it may have burned the burn for a while.
11:07 pm
questions about integrity are the last thing the party wants when there are similar questions about its leading candidate. you may notice i haven't mentioned former maryland governor martin o'malley. that's not a mistake. o'malley trails bernie sanders by more than sanders trails clinton. and this debate won't change that. i'm andy hiller, that's my instinct. >> andy, thank you. a countdown to kickoff for the patriots. but could new england be without their star quarterback in the team's home finale? tom brady listed as questionable for kickoff. >> that is because he missed practice on friday with an illness. so will he take the field? trey daerr has more from the newsroom. >> if the patriots don't end up securing the top spot in the afc east, it will be easy to point to a stretch of critical injuries as to why. on the flip side, securing the top spot, you don't have to look much further than the performance of tom brady. brady, the latest high-profile name on the injury report. appearing friday with an
11:08 pm
the pats quarterback is feeling better, and new england is not concerned with brady's ability to start the game on sunday. as for julian edelman, the "boston herald" reporting he will not play. he is back at practice. still limited recovering from a broken foot. as for the defense, jamie collins returning to the field two weeks ago. the team's second best linebacker, hightower is expected to be back on sunday as well. trey daerr, 7 news night team. >> all right, trey. thank you. coming up next, danger in keene, new hampshire. fast problem at a utility plant forcing firefighters to go door to door checking carbon monoxide levels. >> we are definitely feeling the more typical chill and feel of winter, but it doesn't last for very long. fast big warm-up in store for next week in the forecast coming up. >> the northeastern huskies heading to michigan state for a truly unique doubleheader on the hardwood.
11:09 pm
11:10 pm
11:11 pm
>> firefighters forced to make a house call in keene new hampshire after a dangerous discovery. problems at a utility plant leading to high levels of carbon monoxide inside homes. >> that issue sent four people to the hospital. this started with a power utilities. the problem caused issues with the gas the plant was producing. while the situation has now been fixed, officials spent the evening going door to door to check the carbon monoxide levels in homes. >> i don't know. >> firefighters from 60 surrounding communities were called in to help deal with that issue. >> a disturbing discovery inside the bathroom of a dorchester school. police find a paintball gun friday inside a toilet tank. and as you can see, it is easy to mistake this gun for a real gun.
11:12 pm
the federally required orange tip on it. owner of the paintball gun has been taken into custody. and charged with illegal possession of a firearm. >> a late-night snack taking a criminal turn. police in stur bruj say this man used some convenience store nachos to vandalize a car yesterday. detectives say the man slashed the tires on a car, then smeared nachos on the roof. no word on what led to that incident. all right. it was certainly a colder day for us today. but don't get too used to it. we are back with the mild temperatures next week. just how warm it gets coming up in the next forecast on 7
11:13 pm

11:15 pm
to feel normal. that is your normal weather. again, tomorrow, typical football weather as well. lots of sunshine in store for us. that breeze is with us again as well. we have had the cold air with us today, tomorrow. then we are in the for the boost in the jet stream once again. dividing line, between the cold air and the mild air and it's creeping in for us. this weather pattern, much like what we see in the summertime. temperatures on the rise. and possibly breaking records as we get into christmas eve. the forecast high, 63 for boston. 60 for worcester. that is not a typo. now, we do keep the clouds with us all week long as well. a chance for rain. 30% for tuesday. more likely late on wednesday and overnight wednesday. then the big boost for christmas eve. also the christmas full moon. hopefully, we will be able to see that as we get into friday. 55 for the christmas holiday. have a great night. >> all right. thank you. it is time for holiday helping. here at 7 news, we are whipping up our favorite holiday recipes all for a
