back-to-back batches of rain. first of rain is raining down on new england. the rain is slowing down now a's but it will be lingering into the evening. i think jeremy, it's going to be off and on then there is more that comes with this weather in the way of warmth. >> reporter: that is correct. look at the temperatures upper's to ordinary 60 degrees -- around 60. the city at 56. we've had on and off rain for much of the day. here is the back edge on top of the city of boston. we're done for the remainder of the rain. worcester you are clear. in the sense that the rain is gone. you still have lingering clouds. we'll see skies try to clear out overnight tonight and you would think okay well a rain storm in december, surely the cold air is going to sweep back in. watertown at 52. toronto at 50. buffalo at 48. we stay mild overnight. meanwhile farther south there is another storm system already blossoming across the gulf coast. the gulf of mexico that is loading up with moisture and

this is an el nino winter. the weather systems are going to come out of the gulf. moisture. here comes the next one that will move up the eastern seaboard and be with us tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow night. overnight no rain. the commute will be dry but you will need the rain gear. chance of rain really ramps up in the afternoon. probably around 3:00, 4:00. certainly tomorrow evening, commute looks like a slow go with heavier amounts on the rain i think about a half inch to an inch. more about that in the forecast as well in a few minutes. >> adam: see you soon. new england is not the only region dealing with wet weather. holiday travel across this country could be derailed by snow and high winds. kim khazei here with a look at conditions around the country. >> kim: this is the first full day of winter. you won't believe it by looking at us but there is a mixed bag of extreme conditions from record breaking high temperatures to heavy snow and even the possibility of tornadoes

several police officers. he got into several houses and lied to the how manyoners telling them he worked for massport. several of the officers were hurt but they're expected to be okay. >> adam: crews battling a big fire in brighton. the flames broke out on western avenue around 3:00 am. the fire caused about 250,000 in damage. no one injured. investigators working to find out a cause. >> reporter: a nashua man facing charges for a lewd act involving a minor. police say the girl friend didn't know this was happening. he was released on bail. >> adam: following more news here today, a grand jury deciding no one will be indicted for the death of sandra bland. all jail employees are cleared of criminal wrong doing in the case. brand died in a jail cell.

he falls head first down and overan escalator. the guy tried to rip off a macy's in ohio but his justice. 2-year-old marcel wallace tried to make a run for it. >> as he tried to go down the up escalator there was a uniformed police officer coming up the up escalator. >> reporter: when there was no where to run he jumped. him. got a hold of his leg, the man kicked at the officer. and fell. landed on his head. >> reporter: police station say wallace was caught switching price tags at macy, he had his sister, a cashier ring up three coats valued at $620 for $26. >> years and years ago back when i was a kid we didn't have stuff that happened like this. yeah there were robberies and things that happened but not on a percentage of this today. sad situation, it puts a

>> reporter: as of now marcel and his sister are looking at misdemeanor theft charges but police say that could change. >> used force and flee and someone becomes injured. felony. >> reporter: felony or not, mcgill says wallace -- >> that could have been tragic. it's bad enough as it is a's hard to believe always as not seriously -- wallace was not seriously injured in the fall. >> a clerk fights back against robber in florida. you can see the clerk and a customer tackle him to the ground after he allegedly threatened them with a gun. police took the thief into custody. he has been charged with armed robbery. >> adam: taking a look at other news, a coffee plant goes up in flames. several chicago fire companies were called to the scene last night. authorities don't know how it started yet. no one was in the building when it happened. officials saying that the coffee plant is recently been renovating and is under new ownership.

police stations leaves thee people -- collisions leave three people dead. a tractor trailer slowed down but was then rear ended. that caused a chain reaction involving ten vehicles on the other side of the highway three trucks collided. seven others were injured. >> adam: a sky train goes off the rails leaving one of its cars on the roof of the airport terminal. holiday travelers are facing an added challenge to get around the airport. only one employee was on board at the time. he was not injured. >> reporter: another possible outbreak of e. coli is linked to chipotle. the c.d.c.is looking into this new outbreak in kansas and oklahoma. the person had eaten at a chipotle the week before they got sick. this comes after dozens of people who eight at

became sick with e. coli, also 126 people became sick with the narrow virus in boston this month. >> adam: dad becomes doctor when his new baby longer. what a dispatcher told him to do that may have saved the girl's life. >> elizabeth: the man who gave the marathon bomber his gun sentenced to time served. what he said what he walked out of court a free man. >> adam: a lakeville mother called to court. when prosecutors revealed today. -- what prosecutors revealed

here you see this one mile visibility that is the problem if you travel overnight. going to see pockets of dense fog form. just be mindful of that later on. more so overnight and early tomorrow morning, patchy dense fog but it's mild. no ice, fog or anything like that. no areas of refreeze. you get rain storms but cold air comes back in but not the case there, is no cold air, 43-50 for overnight lows. tomorrow dry morning but you'll need the rain gear early to mid-afternoon. there may be an isolated shower after lunchtime tomorrow but certainly for the kiddos that have school probably getting off the bus stop tomorrow, they'll have rain. they may have outdoor recess because i don't know if there will be rain showers but they have the rain gear, temperatures tomorrow afternoon 53-58. boston 55. dartmouth at 58. first part of the day

then we'll see the rain show up between 1:00 and 3:00 probably in these locations and it may hold off until after 3:00 out on the cape. provincetown 56 and chatham at 56. tomorrow's were system has more moisture. so a little more rain on the way tomorrow. the rainfall out there the rainfall report from folks on twitter, e-mail between a third to a half inch of rain but tomorrow i think a little bit more. three quarters to perhaps as much as an inch on the way. the rain is coming from the middle atlantic states so there will be rainy conditions up and down the 95 corridor. northern new england stays dry for much of the day light hours. into the holiday weekend itself looks good for travel conditions. speaking of looking good if you like the warm weather you are getting your gift early on thursday, that is record warmth. record is 61.

two sticks of butter. now add two eggs. last step is add the sugar. this combines all of these ingredients. >> reporter: so the bowl is complete you want to focus on the dry ingredient, this includes flour, put that right in. a little salt. cream of tar tarr and baking soda. you are going to add that to all the wet and they'll mix together in there. the key is what? >> make sure that you are adding the dry ingredients little by little? >> why? >> so it mixes even. >> the recipe is so good because there are some of the cookie swaps, that is icy to bring and everyone loves snicker doodles so that is mixed. going to put it on to the sheet with sar app wrap there. -- saran wrap. going to cool it in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes. that makes it easier to work with. you can see how sticky it is.
