your forecast. >> right now we do have rain on the doppler radar. we'll have the rain overnight tonight and this is with us up until 4:00, 5:00 tomorrow morning and at times there will be heavier bursts of rainfall. there's one right here western mass, connecticut, river valley, down the 91 corridor and it continues basically into metro new york city. if you have travel plans that are leaving boston, worcester, southern new england and heading in this direction here, 84. hartford, water bury, new york city, allow for extra travel time because it will be a slow go tonight in southern new this weather system, this storm, there's a little more moisture with this one compared to the one that we dealt with yesterday. so i do think at times we're going to have some locally heavy rain out there a late this evening overnight tonight. if i were to time it out around 10:00, 11:00 tonight for the city up until 3:00 for tomorrow morning, it will be a brief but intense punch of rain. most towns will get a half an inch to an inch of rain. and this is a warm front that is trying to move through southern new england and eventually does

that was shut down two weeks ago after dozens of students got sick from the norovirus but could be back open as early as tomorrow. kimberly bookman is live with well. kimberly. >> well, kim, inspectors say that the place is clean, it's in good shape, and it's ready to re-open. when it does, it will be missing one manager. >> reporter: inspectors show up at chipolte in cleveland circle this morning to heck conditions inside the restaurant. two weeks after the place was closed because more than 150 people, mostly boston college students, got the norovirus here. >> it's looking good. they've come a long way. >> reporter: after doing sanitation tests, examining the chemicals used to disinfect the restaurant and making sure it's norovirus-free, they also hecked employees are healthy, cleared to work and aware of procedures and policies. >> we did a pop quiz. i quizzed a couple of people in training and they had the right answers. >> reporter: once the final paperwork is completed, the fast-food chain is told they passed inspection can re-open as

people come? yeah, why not. if they have been cleared, they should be good to go. >> not right away, but, again, these things do happen so probably in the near future, i probably would come here. >> i'd be afraid to eat there, to be honest. >> reporter: at the center of this all was a chipolte employee who came to work sick. as the restaurant gets set to re-open, that person's boss is out of a job and health officials say the manager should >> clearly here what happened, somebody had asked a boss, mentioned he was sick, and he was told to stay till the end of the shift, bad mistakes here has and again, all employees have been tested to make sure they're healthy to come back to work. reporting live from cleveland circle, kimberly bookman, 7news. also, a close call for two people who needed to be rescued from the water in south boston. crews just rushed to the scene under the broadway bridge to pull them out. ems workers wrapped them in towels and blankets trying to prevent hypothermia.

into the water, they're a little bit drunk, they couldn't get out of the water, the police officers got a ladder, they got -- assisted one of them out, the fire department responded and also assisted the other one out of the water. >> both people were taken to the hospital. a police officer was also checked out. a woman facing multiple charges including drunk driving after allegedly leading police on a chase through the southshore. it all started last night in cohassett after police say the 43-year-old threw a bottle at a man in a parking lot. investigators say she then took off in weymouth before crashing into a police cruiser in quincy. police say thankfully no one was hurt. the board that oversees the mbta releasing its financial report to state lawmakers, and it paints a possible painful picture for t riders. 7's sarah french gives us a look. >> reporter: fare hikes are headed toward t riders. a new report released by the mbta's fiscal and management control board reveals the t is

increase next year that could take affect in july. it hasn't been approved and could actually end up being as much as a 10% hike, something the board knows will be tough for commuters but necessary, they say given the t's budget problems. many of the decisions will be difficult and unpopular but continued inaction is simply not an option, the riding public, mbta employees, taxpayers and region's economy demand a well functioning, efficient mbta. the mbta is trying to close the projected $240 to $2 million budget gap. steps could include elimination of early morning weekend service as well as boosting advertising and parking revenue. the mbta has been working to prepare for winter weather spending more than $90 million as they add tens of thousands of feet of new third rail as well as heating systems. still, according to the report, there is a $7.3 billion backlog of repairs looming over the

likely grow. sarah french, 7news. and we're following more news today. a woman accused of intentionally driving her car into a crowd of people on the las vegas strip facing a judge today. prosecutors say la keisha holloway's 3-year-old daughter was in the car on sunday when she's accused of barreling through crowd on the sidewalk. one person was killed and dozens more hurt. holloway did not enter a plea but prosecutors say the evidence shows she meant to cause that crash. >> in this case a video tells 1,000 words. it's pretty clear that this wasn't just an isolated right turn into a couple of people. >> we'll determine what the plea is going to be but it wouldn't surprise me in the least if it were not guilty initially. >> holloway is facing several charges including murder and child abuse. witnesses say the car drove on to the sidewalk at least two or three times during this incident. january. her 3-year-old is now in state custody. and the man accused in the shooting in a planned parenthood

tody. robert deer accused of opening fire and killing three people in november. deer is now demanding to fire his public defender and represent himself. in a previous court appearance, he admitted to the shooting saying he was a worrier for the babies. one of the people killed this, this police officer originally from melrose. officer garrett swayze was responding to the shots when deer shot and killed him, according to prosecutors. and now to the race for the white house. the battle continues. hillary clinton with tough words for donald trump as they duke it out, senator ted cruz is blasting a washington post editorial cartoon saying it went too far. >> reporter: senator ted cruz blast the washington post for what he calls a tasteless attack. the newspaper ran an editorial cartoon showing cruz as an organ grinder and his two young daughters as monkeys. >> folks want to attack me, knock yourself out. that's pat of the process. i signed up are for that, that's fine.

>> we have an update on the people shot on center street in jamaica plain. nick emmons is there now. so he'll have more information. nick, what do you know no. >> what we know right now that the two men suffered non-life-threatening injuries. that's what i was told a few minutes ago. i want to show you the scene right now. street. police are investigating this shooting where apparently two men were found on separate floors sometime around 4:00 this officers are still going through the building right now. we can see them talking with people who live inside. this is at the bromley heat housing development on center street just about a block away from the jackson square t station here. so what we know right now, no one has been arrested so far. two men middle-aged men

non-life-threatening injuries. the investigation is ongoing but that is the latest information we have. in jamaica plain, nick emmons, 7news. keep us posted because we got some conflicting reports on the condition of the victims. a lunch lady in idaho finds her in a pickle after losing her job for giving a middle-school student a free meal. the school district says the woman the violated the rules. >> but there's been an uproar on social media prompting a discussion on whether the school's decision is fair. >> my heart hurts. i truly love my job. and i can't say i wouldn't do it again. >> reporter: it's been a week since dalene lost her job at this middle school in idaho. the former lunch lady can barely form words when describing what led to her dismissal. >> why did you do that when you say you love your job? >> well, because they're hungry. what do you do? send them out there so they can get it taken away and thrown away.

people in las vegas catching a glimpse of a mysterious streaking light last night. described as a fireball seen across nevada and california. it was the remains of a russian rocket that broke up midair. people had their own theories when they first saw it. >> i was kind of confused. my immediate thought is oh my god, is this a ufo. >> these days people want to find a conspiracy in everything when in fact the universe itself is pretty much a marvel. >> experts say that flashes like this are actually pretty common. >> what's not common is that it's 48 degrees the week of christmas, jr. >> yeah, this is -- i mean, i don't know if i -- i know i don't want record snow after last winter but i need a little snow here. don't new i gotta have something.

so get over, it jr. rain overnight ahead. record warmth on the way for tomorrow. here you go, though, snow lovers. looks like a colder pattern is coming at us next week and there may be a little the bit of winter precipitation next tuesday. we'll briefly spell that out but there's still a lot of time between now and that to unfolded. rain now overtaking metro boston. deeper shades of green and yellow, western mass, western connecticut. notice right here that's steadier rainfall there. this weather system, this storm came out of the gulf of mexico last night. this is a classic el nino pattern here where these storms will come out of the gulf of mexico and sometimes, like this, there's not gonna be any cold air and then there will be other times where there will be cold air to offer at least some winter precipitation moving forward this winter. this one is nothing but rain and at times it will be locally heavy. your storm timeline has the rain marching across the metro over the next couple of hours. would not be shocked there's a

not advertising any strong or severe thunderstorms. but the atmosphere has moisture, has the ingredients to make an occasional thunderstorm. we'll leave it at that, and that will work across southern new england overnight tonight and morning. although, i think as we work toward 5:00, 6:00 tomorrow morning, that's when it's over. the morning commute if you have one tomorrow will not feature anything significant. overnight tonight. about 3/4 of an inch of rain to some locations an inch of beneficial rain. it has been dry here in southern new england for months and we don't want to make up all that rainfall deficit that we have but will take what we can get. 40s and 50s at this time and south of the warm front and look at numbers. they spike into the 60s. that is headed our way for tomorrow, and even overnight tonight. again, it will be in the upper 40s in new hampshire. 50s around the metro, and i think overnight tonight, the numbers will head for the low 60s down through buzzard's bay, the south coast and on down to cape cod. and then we are all into warmer temps tomorrow with a lot of clouds. that's the only drawback, is the
