reports of shots fired outside of the facility. right now, there are no reports of any injuries. but investigators at m.c. i. shirley are investigating. we have a crew heading to the scene and we'll bring as we get it. >> anchor: also police in salem are holding out hope for a christmas miracle after a couple made off with toys. >> anchor: police are spending the holiday searching for the pair. john cuoco joins us live with how they were able to pull this all off. >> reporter: the plan was apparently simple. the people walked in and said they were' here to pick up the toys. >> if you can't afford presents, say i can't afford present and get them a lottery tint or something. >> reporter: a christmas crime in salem stealing toys meant for children. according to the report from salem police last week a man and woman walked into the sex offender registry board's office on congress street. claiming to be there to pick

they were' never asked for i.d.'s or to sign this. they were' buzzed in and sheep where all the toys were. the two gathered up all the would be gifts about $1,000 worth all collected during a toy drive and walked out front door with no one the wiser. >> pretty sad. can you go to the $store and buy christmas presents. >> reporter: the case was then reported to salem police on monday. they're investigating. here is the thing. according to the buildings' security company there is no video near the sorb office but employees rallied and redonated what was stolen and ended up giving more than before so if the chairman sent a statement saying in part: >> reporter: salem police are investigating. the possibility this may be some sort of mixup.

live in salem tonight, john cuoco 7 news. >> anchor: a shopping scare for a little girl in shrewsbury, her mother says they were' at this christmas tree shop when a stranger walked up to them and exposed himself to the little girl. susan tran spoke with the girl's mother. >> reporter: holiday shopping at the christmas tree shop turn nos a horrifying experience for a young girl and her mom. >> she had lifted up his pants. >> reporter: tracy was shopping with her 12-year-old daughter when a man in his mid 40s followed her daughter around the store and exposed him self not once but three times. >> reporter: the store was crowded with holiday shop eves, she was' within feet of her daughter but didn't see what was happening. it wasn't until after they something. >> i felt completely sick to

we're still on track for the warmest december on record as well. as breaking the latest first snow in worcester. so we still haven't seen any flakes. we got to wait for that. maybe in the forecast later this week as we start next week. past christmas weather maybe you remember last year. it was mild. we hadn't seen a lot of snow throughout december and we did start off christmas morning at 59 degrees last year. then we know winter showed up later on. so just food for thought. current temperature 66 for boston. 68 norwood. 63 worcester. it feels much loor like we should be hunting for easter eggs rather than doing caroling and the dew points around about 60 degrees. so the frizz factor in this december just not something we typically use this time of year. we throw that out and use the wind chill but that doesn't afly right now. -- apply now. we do have a bit of a breeze, 10-20 miles an hour winds overnight tonight. where we see the winds died

potential for seeing fog. the air mass is so mild and so moist at this point. especially after all the rain we had last night. if we do see clouds split apart you might notice how bright the sky is. this is the first christmas full moon that we've seen since 1977. it won't happen until 2034. riley the little girl is going to be well past college at this point. areas of fog, mild temperatures 46-56 then tomorrow, mild again. so maybe you have roller blades or the bike under the tree. maybe santa brings that tonight then you've got a goods shot getting out tomorrow. about 20 degrees above normal making it to the low 60s, these are really incredible christmas temperatures. so check them out here. looking for upper 50s, 6 o everett and grafton upper 60s as far as holiday

for tomorrow and saturday. temperatures will be cooler but we're looking for another round of wet weather on sunday and maybe even a few flakes on monday. if that precipitation is there the temperatures are cold enough. running through the timeline for the week keep clouds around on saturday but saturday night into sunday morning is whether the wet weather work through again possibility lingering showers for sunday as well. we got the big boost in the cooler temperatures saturday. another boost on sunday. but then the cold air really does invade as we cake of kick off -- kick off next tuesday. temperatures dropping to the 30s, latest first snow we may not break this record for boston. january 13th, i don't know if we'll make it that long because i do have a snow flake on the forecast as we starting off with snow turning to sort of an icy mess for the afternoon. we'll keep an eye on it. >> anchor: your last chance to prepare a delicious dish for the holidays, adam williams is

>> anchor: here at 7 news we're whipping up our favorite who will take recipes for a good cause. >> anchor: today adam is introducing us to a cookie native to his home state. here is adam's holiday helping. >> reporter: welcome back to our home. happy holidays. this year i'm going to be making some christmas cookies from my home state of new mexico called biscochitos. so let's warm up and start the cooking. we're in the kitchen with very basic cookie making ingredients, but there is add in and we'll get to that later. we'll add baking powder and salt to the flour that has been sifted and now we're going to mix up these three. now we're going to cream the shortening, sugar and the special ingredient i was telling you about. here goes the shortening. you can see why we have to fluff it because it's solid. next we've got our sugar. what are good cookies without a lot of good sugar? now the unique ingredient,

freshly ground. you can also buy anis oil to this is going to give us the licorice taste. we'll mix up this. you will see the anis seeds. eggs go in next one at a time. this is interesting because i'm not good at cracking eggs but no shells. the next step is adding our flour mixture a flour mixture is almost there. one last step and it's the white wine. we wrapped the dough in out chill. so we're going to put it in the refrigerator for about 1-2 hours. now is the hard part. we're going to roll these out and cook. i use a hot air balloon because you might know by now i like hot air balloons you got to use up every millimeter so you can get more and more. we're going to dunk them in cinnamon and sugar.
