that's been knowing the past few hours. now this all began this morning if you want to take a listen and the past few hours they have been trying to get this man to come out of his home and surrender peacefully. now this all began this morning after a neighbor called 911 saying there were shots fired. they tell us that they actually heard very deep and loud booms. suns then, nothing has really been happening of the police have been surrounding this home them have been trying to talk to the homeowner getting him to come out and surrender peacefully but that has not happened. police in this neighborhood are scared, they are nervous, they don't know what's happening, they are sitting here on christmas day hiding inside their homes, wondering exactly what is unfolding. we are awaiting word from the police chief or the mayor, someone to tell us officialsy what has been happening here on summer street in everett just off of route 9 9 but at this point in time police here on the

come out of his home. they have been firing tear gas that this home but at this point in time he is not coming out and surrounding peacefully. this is developing, this is very fluid. we'll bring you the very latest as it develops. reporting willive in everett, kelly o'hara, 7 news . >> anchor: new at 4:30, a home in cranston, rhode island goes up in flames. the christmas day fire could have been much worse butto the quick thinking of some police officers everyone made it out alive. susan tran now here with what happened. susan? list belle, this fire was so intense one person had to jump through a window to escape. right now investigators don't know how it started but they say it could have been so much worse worse. fire crews got to the home around 1:30 christmas morning. and they say the first floor was filled with smoke and flames. now the fire quickly spread throughout most of the house and for one person trapped inside, he actually had to jump through a glass window to escape. now fire crews rushed inside this multi familiar low building and cleared out 7 others along with several pets and many didn't even know there was a
