up in flames the fire swallowing this multifamiliar lie home forcing one person to jump through a glass window. as fire fighters rush inside to get everyone else out . >> anchor: those families now forced out of their home on christmas day. 7's susan tran joins us in the newsroom with the very latest on this. susan? >> anchor: a christmas morning fire so intense that one person actually had to jump through a window to escape. now right now investigators just don't know how it started but they say it could have been so much worse. fire crews showed up at the home around 1:30 this morning and it was filled with smoke and flames throughout the first floor. well, it quickly spread to other parts of the home and forced one person to actually jump through a glass window just to get to safety. fire crews rushed inside and cleared out 7 others and their pets. now many weren't even aware of the fire until crews showed up. you can see right here the entire top of the house and the right side badly damaged. they are nowing boarded up. police say the only person who was hurt was the man who jumped

he had some cuts and was treated on the scene. live in the newsroom, susan tran 7 news . >> anchor: an accident on 495 in raynham overnight. you can see rv on the side of the road. the vehicle was heading south then rossed the median before ending up on the northbound side near the exit, exit nine a.cord a.cording to reports one person was taken to the hospital after possibly being thrown from the r rv. a pedestrian recovering this morning after being hit by a vehicle in tuesday buck bury yesterday. sky 7 hd was over that scene at saint williams church where the accident happened. that victim was flown to a nearby hospital. she has two broken arms and a cut on her head. be charged. >> anchor: more news today, officials in washington say at least three former inmates who are mistakenly released early committed crimes when they should have been this prison. police say the inmates are among 27 prisoners released early because of a computer coding glitch. a corrections department official could not comment on

prisoners have been rearrested. it's a fundamental question we need to answer is, why was this computer delay for so long and how is that possible when it sort of certainly had an impact for public safety. >> anchor: officials say five people have been brought back into custody with conveys rang ranging from assault to robbery . >> anchor: a scare in the air for passengers on board american airlines going from miami to los angeles when the cabin filled with smoke mid flight. mcneck a issues forced the pile to make an emergency landing in texas wednesday. the passengers were then put on another flight, however they had to stop in dallas to refuel. one man said he saw the smoke before any crew members and alerted a friend and. it looks like we have a fire, dude. cabin is full the smoke and then he reacted, called the pilot then all of a sudden we started going down. i started, i went back to my seat. >> anchor: we're 15 hours late

information from the flight crew. >> anchor: the passengers finally arrived in los angeles about 20 hours after they boarded their first flight. a lottery win any iowa facing criminal charges for underage criminal gambling. officials say the winner of a $1 $100,000 winner purchased his ticket illegally. he was under 21 years old when he bought that ticket. the minute age required to play the lottery in iowa. now he might not get to keep any of his winnings. there wasn't anything wrong on the face of it from that situation so long as the facts back up what occurred. in this case, in fact, the facts did not back up the story that we were presented with so then penalties will apply. we got a tip that in fact people didn't think that was the case. we looked into it and determined through our investigation that in fact he purchased the ticket which made it an illegal purchase. >> anchor: the convenience store owner who sold the ticket may also face a punishment. >> anchor: if you open up some new gifts today find a hot new gadget maybe you may want to wait a second before you take it

i couldn't believe it was him i was looking for the wheelchair for my mohter-in-law. i was lucking for someone lower down that just thought that looks a lot like him. i realized it was him. the son is a combat photo documentation specialist for the u.s. army. he just finished a nine months tour in iraq. we have breaking news that we've been following. we know there is a developments now happening with this standoff in everett. kelly o'hara live for us right now. what's going on? well, home is now on fire. there are series of explosions earlier then all of a sudden the home exploded into flames. right now. they are on scene. you can actually the smoke hoes. we have been toll to move back, move way back. this has been a very fluid situation we've been going on hour six of this standoff. we know it's all started off with reports of gunfire and then police were trying to communicate with the man for several hours.

any records like we did yesterday. average temperature for the point so far 46.6. this is almost 11 degrees above normal averages for this time of year. incredible. so to top this list for the warm warmest december on record. looking more and more likely now i was curious because we are looking at number one for the warmest decembers, what did the other top three warm decembers look like as far as seasonal snow totals? because we have been getting these questions so what will the season look like as far as snow goes. that's just some food for number one, two, three kind of a trend going on there. seasonal snow totals in the teens. you can take that for what it's worth. not so festive. i mention only three times since record keeping began that we've actually seen temperatures 60 or above and it really puts it into per ive to think the normal high for this time of year is just 39 degrees of before we're well above that right now. 57 in boston. 54 in worcester, 51 norwood

manageable today in the mid 40's so the air mass is not as soupy, not worried about the dense fog forming edo have some low visibility though as you get out on to the island and also showers that are crowing in so take a look not south good clip of rain on the way in for the south coast as we head into the evening hours between 70 clock and 9:00. we can roll through time line here and you can see this forecast model probably over doing it but we could get a decent round of more moderate rain it. doesn't last for very long then it moves on out. but again it's post likely across the south coast, cape and islands for this evening. mostly cloudy, that's sprinkle i mentioned 38 to 46 for our temperatures overnight very mild and then into tomorrow not as warm as it has been but still well above normal, 47 to 51 with rain working in once again late in the day to overnight tomorrow tomorrow. highs tomorrow right around 50 degrees, looks like upper 40's for boston, 52 for norwood. 48 worcester as well but look what happens with our temperatures.

cooler of the two weekend days. we're near 60 on sunday and then boy what a difference as we get into the beginning of innest week. some of the coldest weather we've seen all month long. so here is what's happening with the rain i mentioned overnight tonight and into sunday. it is well into northern new england and cold air rushes in behind it and for monday, tuesday and most of next week we're looking at much colder air so what is up with tuesday? room. that cold air is there and sometimes we see what is called cold air damning once it's there it's really dense, kind of a heavier air mass, it's really art to work out and if we see this rain work in or wet weather we should say work in the cold is still there, then it event on tuesday could start out as some snow turned to an ice or sleet event so it may make travel a little difficult for tuesday. we're keeping a close eye on it. i will tell you the models are a little encouraging today for the snow lovers looking more wet

a day to watch and we will keep you posted. police officers spreading holiday cheer by surprising dozens of families in need this christmas with gift cards. secret santa donated $50,000 to the station and now the officers are giving back to the community community. to be able to knock on her door and see her face and the reaction that we're here to provide a gift card and to bring some christmas joy just reregard warding. i they handed out 5 ungift cards in total . >> anchor: many of us celebrating the holodate a group of third graders are taking the time to give back instead of sell bringing the start of winter break these kids are pass passing on the party . they devoted their day to helping those in need. i just want to give them like as much as i can or as new as we can to them so they can just be happy . >> anchor: it's the last day before christmas for these third graders who have chosen to skip their holiday party and make the whom days a little brighter for those in need. all of the people that came

>> anchor: bad news for janet jackson fans . the somethinger has put a world tour on hold so she can have surgery . she wrote on facebook that she will have to postpone the tour until the spring but every day will be rescheduled so fans can hold on to their tickets of she was supposed to be in boston at the end of february. a big announcement for fans of the show full house. singer carly ray general sent announcing she will sing the theme song for the 2016 spilloff "fuller house." the call me maybe singer said she redid the song's original team song and said she can't wait for fans to hear it. fuller house debuts on netflix on february 26 .

there. it all started when police responded to shots fired in that area . >> anchor: this went on for about six hours of you are looking at live pictures there and we're told that situation has now been resolved. kelly o'hara is live on the scene with the very latest information on this. kelly, what happens? that is the big question right now. the situation is still unfolding unfolding. as you can see the fire department is here. this standoff was progressing going on five or six hours then all of a sudden just after 5:30 this home exploded. it erupted into a big, red ball of flames. police have been asking the an who barricaded himself inside of that home all day long to please come out. they said at the wanted the standoff to end peacefully them told him several points in time to put his gun down and come out out. they said at the did not want anyone to get hurt. clearly someone has been hurt here in some shape or form. we are waiting for an update from the police chief. we don't know the situation of the man who was living inside. at one point in time we saw him

he said i have done nothing. leave me alone. stay away. now this all began just before 12:00 on this christmas day. neighbors called 911 saying they heard reports of gunfire. they heard loud booms. shortly after that, police got here, they left the home because they believed that man had guns. all day long, they sat there on their mega phones with the swat team moving in here to summer street just off of 99 asking that man to come out peacefully, saying they didn't want this to end in a bad resolution. fast forward just after 5:30 this home erupted into flames. since that point in time, this community has really been in chaos. the fire department is here, hoesing this home down. police have stood way back and clearly the swat situation is now on a stand down basis. earlier we spoke to neighbors, they were scared, take a listen as to what they had to say.
