11:00 pm
the salt and sand are piledigh roll. we have night team coverage. that's fwhot all officers put themselves in line of fire rushing inside to save a woman inside a burning house. and 911 call in new york puts the police and f.b.i. here in boston on alert. >> seven news at 11 starts now. first at 11 we're tracking winter weather move in to new england tonight. this storm has done some major damage to the south of us. and plans on mix's it up when it gets here. we're talking snow, sleet and freezing rain. goitsing to makes mess of morning commute. we have night team coverage as we brace for our first winter storm of the season for more on what we can expect tomorrow, here's meteorologist jeremy. we have a winter weather advisory in effect late tonight and through the middle part of tomorrow for snow, sleet freezing rain leading to poor travel during the morning commute. again for some of you with kids out of school you don't have morning commute. for those that do it will slow go for few hours.
11:01 pm
sleet a cold rain getting on way. probably around 7, 8 o'clock tomorrow morning between 3 and 7:00 a.m. a little bit of sleet in city. farther west, just inland this pink shading here snow and sleet. that will go over to mid morning and even farther west blue shading here where we have snow, sleet and freezing rain for several hours. it all winds down freezing drizzle by early tomorrow afternoon. certainly cold enough right now. upper 20s and low 30s. city at 31. south of town, you mover out new england, numbers are in middle 30s. also, which actually don't see here is that it beginning warm up in the clouds. and when that warmer air comes out of pennsylvania into clouds, going to shut down the snowflakes. then change them into sleet pellets already happening here. you see pink shading moving out catskills and moving up into new england over next two to three hours. so we'll see patchy light snow develop. then, again going to quickly go over to sleet and rain metro boston more so in south shore farther west merrimac valley a
11:02 pm
but i think even up here working through morning hours tomorrow, the sleet and freezing rain does change over to a cold rain. although it probably will still hang on as a freezing rain and sleet combination for a few hours. merrimac valley even up there winds down to freezing drizzle early tomorrow afternoon. and then we all have a drizzle throughout afternoon hours tomorrow and tomorrow evening. so how much snow and sleet on way? again i think eileen oh lower end of numbers here there will likely more more sleet than snow. probably just a coating around city of boston if that gets wash wood do. 1 to three inches of snow more so probably 1 inch versus the 3. but there could a couple bursts one to 3. then changing oh every to sleet, rain 32 to 5 inches of snow more likely three than 5 and up here southern new hampshire ending freezing rain and freezing lack better. what is that commute going to be
11:03 pm
get into morning j r we're not expecting big snow total sleet pellets still coating roadway creates slick condition. 5 o'clock in morning city boston north and west this going to where travel is poor thanks to sleet covered roads. some snow out there. especially to north of city of boston. i'm thinking 8, 9 o'clock along the coastline including city boston. mainly wet roads that will fair okay at that time. if you have flight out logan, 9, 10 o'clock in more than transitioning over to rain at that point. just wet down through south shore cape islands. 2:00 p.m. we watch wet weather march right back through route 128 all way up toward natick and framingham. west of there still nashoba veal may be pockets of freezing rain likely seeing freezing rain through northern worcester county back into berkshires very late in day it's possible, and some freezing drizzle starts to make its way back down through merrimac veal into north shore massachusetts.
11:04 pm
so expecting in temples ice totals, highs west. freezing rain. wee talking about sleet in morning but then a period of some freezing rain midday into the afternoon. and quarter of an inch not out realm of possibilities here western worcester county. especially out through the eastern slopes of berkshires. when you start talking about ice totals over a quarter of an inch that is that glaze, freezing rain that accumulates on the trees and power lines. you can get isolated power outages but i think most of that is going to back through eastern slopes of berkshires perhaps a worsters county. forecast ahead. all right chris. we've telling you mbta says they are working hashed to stay on track this winter. they want to avoid repeat last winter crippling delays. today the t showed off new equipment if hopes will help keep trains running smoothly. night team ryan schulteis south station in boston with closer ryan. adam you know ts calling a tier one storm meaning not going
