arsenal of weapons right before the winter classic. >> anchor: plus searching for a suspect after a senseless attack in tel aviv. a massachusetts man just blocks away describes the horrific scene. >> we've been getting used to more typical winter-like temperatures, but it gets colder for the start of the work week and some spots could see snow. >> anchor: patriots hoping to go out with a bang, fishing for trouble against the miami dolphins with home field advantage on the line. >> 7 news at 11:00 starts now. >> anchor: first, breaking news, an alarming attack caught on camera. a boston police officer assaulted on the job. tonight an everett man is facing serious charges for the assault. >> anchor: police are saying this could have had a much different ending. kelly o'hara live in boston with the details. >> reporter: police say the attack happened just two hours after the ball drop and they say this attack came out of nowhere. >> it's crazy, there are a lot

don't know what they're doing. >> that's crazy. why would somebody do that? >> reporter: reaction across the city tonight to video of a man punching a boston police officer again and again. you can see the altercation play out on the left side of the screen in this eyewitness video. a man in red at the driver's side window of the cruiser, allegedly hitting that officer. b.p.d. says it was without warning, they say the man was 23-year-old andrew bowman and he told the officer, quote, you heard about the war, right? and then that assault began. investigators say things got even more intense after bowman ran away and other officers caught up with him. he allegedly said you're all going to die. however, the 23-year-old's family says this was all a mistake and completely out of character for the man. they say bowman has been under extreme stress, people say the officer showed restraint, especially because he never even pulled out a weapon. >> i think it's great, and

situation force different cops, and i think there are a lot of great cops out there that do the right thing. >> he showed remarkable restraint for somebody that just got punched in the face. >> cops have to think about that now because they've gotten such a bad rap lately too. >> reporter: the police commissioner says the video is disheartening, and is indicative of the dangers of being a police officer. as for bowman, he's behind bars facing several serious charges. >> anchor: police in rochester, new hampshire searching for an alleged police impersonator. detectives say a man dressed in some kind of of uniform approached two children, and told the kids to hand over the baseball bat they were carrying and then drove off. anyone with information is asked to please call police. >> anchor: foxborough making a dangerous discovery. police there, that is. an arsenal of weapons found in a car at a gillette stadium parking lot, all of the weapons right here including a sword, even a meat cleaver, they were

tonight a connecticut man is behind bars. john cocoa has the story. >> reporter: no one was hurt here. but people were scared. this suspect alley made threats. just two hours before the winter classic kicked off new year's day in foxborough, police found this arsenal of weapons, swords, a stun gun, meat cleaver, and more. 7 news showed the picture to people saturday. >> wow. >> that's lovely. >> reporter: the stash was allegedly found in the car of this man, 48-year-old matthew barometer -- bromson. bromson does not work for gillette. police say he was drunk and had made threats to several people. >> this is your life, you want to go and enjoy something with your family and friends and then you find out something like that is going on right behind you. >> reporter: bromson is facing

dangerous weapon. >> it's good that the winter classic could go on, it's great that security found and the event went off without a hitch. >> reporter: police have run into bromson before, the day before, he was allegedly thrown out of a foxborough hotel. police helped him into another one. they believe he current live lives out of his car. then in 2014bromson was arrested after a standoff at his home in connecticut where he reportedly threatened to shoot police. police say this was an isolated incident. there was no threat to gillette stadium. live in foxborough, john cuoco, 7 news night team. >> anchor: also, a manhunt in israel, tel aviv police searching for a suspect after a since r senseless shooting. two people were killed when the there. and a massachusetts man just blocks away from the attack is opening up about the terrifying aftermath. the manhunt in tel aviv continues as police close in on the suspected gunman who opened

on new year's day. police say the suspect is 31-year-old meum, an arab israeli known to police. two people were killed and seven others injured in the attack. a lawyer for the mellum family says the family's home was raided, that his brother was arrested and a computer confiscated. around tel aviv people are being told to go about their every day lives, including a massachusetts man in town for business. alex goldstein was just blocks away when the deadly attack began. >> when the ambulances and police started pouring into the neighborhood, that was the moment when i realized that something was going on. >> reporter: goldstein says witnesses were quick to respond. >> one thing you you see in israel all the time is that when anything does happen, people always run towards what just occurred, not away from it, either to offer help or support or whatever they can do. >> reporter: see says attacks in tel aviv have been less common and people are doing what they can to move on while

>> i think that there's a interesting mix of emotions that happen in israel when something like this occurs. the first emotion is this is a who are it tragedy, and the mourning process that the nation goes through, but then there's also the reaction that we're not going to let our lives be disturbed because if we did our day. >> reporter: goldstein was in boston at the time of the marathon manhunt and says it's been interesting to compare the two tragedies that have gripped two nations thousands of miles apart. >> i would say that the reaction i've seen in terms of the manhunt is very, very different than what i experienced, living through the marathon bombings, being a part of the lockdown in boston. it certainly isn't that kind of feeling here, i think people are going about their lives and the police are pretty focused. >> anchor: goldstein added that he's been amazed by the hospitality of the israeli people in the wake of the

enjoy the rest of the weekend because the beautiful weather isn't staying around. get ready for an arctic blast, maybe even some snow. here's bri eggers with a check of your forecast. >> just over a week ago we were smashing records, into the 60s, even 70s in some spots. highs today typical for this time of year. tomorrow, seasonable temperatures. but then a cold blast, cold dry arctic air moving in from the north. and that's really going to add a chill as we head into monday and tuesday as well. that cold air locked up near hudson bay at this point, but then seeping in from the north as we head into the overnight hours tomorrow. so tomorrow seasonable for us, but then only topping out in the 20s, we're talking starting tuesday. this also means a few inches of snow for a couple of spots. we'll have details coming up in a few minutes. >> anchor: thank you. the patriots preparing to fry

70s, so it's going to be a shock to the system. current temperature is close to freezing, 33 for beford, norwood as well, 30 in worcester, 34 in boston. and the wind chill readings making it feel like it's in the mid 20s in most spots, feels like 20 in worcester. doesn't take much of a breeze to add that chill in the air. so make sure you have all of your exposed skin not exposed and covered up and you'll be just fine. now, we do have cloud athat have moved in from the west with the exception of the south shore, duxbury, down through cape cod and the islands as well. but overnight tonight i don't think those temperatures will drop a whole lot more, because of the cloud cover. so mid 20s to freezing for our lows tomorrow morning and then tomorrow, again, another typical winter day to get used to that. 37 to 43 for those highs. this is the kind of cold we can deal with, plus we have the sunshine with us today. tomorrow similar story, but then here is the cold that we're talking about coming in. it's dry, frigid air coming in

going to change things up for us, as that arctic front makes its way into the area overnight tomorrow. so seasonable for tomorrow, but watch what happens as we get in front coming through, the cold air drops in but we're also seeing this northerly wind component that could cause ocean effects snow showers. how this happens is that you get that cold dry air coming over relatively warm ocean waters, we're talking ocean temperatures between 45, 47 degrees, that's when you get an unstable air mass, this is very similar, same setup as ocean effect snow showers, which can dump feet of snow as you get to the eastern side of the great lakes. so this is what we're in for for monday, snow showers, snow squalls, second drop a couple inches quickly and reduce visibility. a coating to one inch across the south shore, and then more significant snow out to the middle and outer cape,

consider live from florida, where the patriots look to lock up the top spot in the afc with a win against the dolphins tomorrow. new england ringing in the new year down south, of course the winter classic taking place up north. with gillette stadium occupied, the patriots leaving a couple days early, getting a practice in, plenty of empty seats on that flight to florida. edelman, hightower, jones and volley march -- volmer already ruled out for tomorrow. >> for us to get away and spend a little extra time together, i think we experienced it last year when we went to san diego, it did something to our team, brought us closer, so hopefully we can get something similar
