details on the dramatic end to a police chase. >> and a possible case of road rage in braintree, things take a violent turn when a fight turns bloody. >> jeremy: here's our next storm system bringing rain. i'll let you know when its arrives. 7 news at 11 starts now. tonight on 7: a big blast rocks a chemical plant. if an explosion like this can happen it makes you question what else can happen. >> serious injuries and a serious air of concern. >> kim: four people were rushed to the hospital after the blast. >> ryan: this happened at the dow chemical facility in north andover. let's start those off with tim caputo in north andover with what went wrong. >> reporter: i asked the state fire marshal if this was human

early to tell but they can rule out anything suspicious. the fire marshal said they are winding down for the evening and they will come back here at 10 am, and they have to bring a bomb squad with the robot to get to this tube that is filled with potentially very dangerous chemicals. the explosion at dow chemical in north andover was so powerful neighbors felt it. a loud boom and the house shook and my dog barked and i went outside to see if there was an accident. >> reporter: four workers were critically injured suffering from what hospital officials and burns. >> this is a chemical reactive to water and for some reason that will come out, this chemical reacted with water, which resulted in the explosion. >> reporter: the four employees were rushed to the hospital, the rest of the staff at the dow chemical plant were evacuated. >> are you okay?

>> reporter: the hazardous materials crew internet hours surveying the scene to make sure it was safe for investigators to get inside. fire officials told those who live nearby they shouldn't be worried about chemicals in the air. >> i thought would the kids be better staying at school but we got the news there was nothing harmful to the area. >> it makes you question what else could happen. >> reporter: in october of 2013 a dow chemical employee was killed in an explosion in the lab but the fire marshal said different chemicals were involved today. >> it does not appear to have a connection to the type of incident that we are involved in at this time. >> reporter: the explosion blew out the windows and building itself is stable and secure. investigators have not been inside that specific lab, and that is why they are reconvening

the specific tube of chemicals. we are live in north andover, tim caputo. >> ryan: nightteam coverage continues with kimberly bookman outside of lawrence general hospital where the four people hurt were rushed for decontamination. >> reporter: all the patients had chemicals on their bodies or clothes and before they entered the hospital it had to be cleaned off. four people in the same part of the dow chemical plants that exploded were critically hurt and heading here. >> what the patients had was blast injuries from the pressure of the explosion and the chemical on their body. and burns as well. >> reporter: but before those patients could enter the emergency room doors they had to go thank you decontamination in the hospital's parking lot. >> they were washed with water for an extensive period of time to remove contaminants. >> reporter: doctors were told the injured came in contact what

a chemical that is an irtantd to the skin and anything that it would be coming in contact with. >> reporter: some 60 doctors and nurses cared for the patients and within an hour three were stable and airlifted to boston for more trauma care. the fourth stayed in lawrence, while not as badly hurt, still in need of medical attention. a sign that this explosion was indeed tramatic. >> they are in critical condition. they are significant and severe. >> reporter: and again the hospital not giving any specific details about where on the body these victims were hurt. again they are all listed in critical condition. reporting live from lawrence, kimberly bookman. >> kim: authorities arrest twod charges, one this california and the other in texas. let's get to the brandon gunnoe for the late of the. >> reporter: u.s. authorities arrested a man from second meant owe on a terrorism related

-- sacramento and another from houston. federal authorities say he had madeup story and they say the man flew to turkey and flew to syria to tight with terrorists before returning to the united states, he is accused of bragging about it on social media. investigators say there is no indication he had any plans of terrorism here on the homeland. at the breaking news desk, brandon gunnoe. >> ryan: police on the cape say a driver led them on a chase through several towns and came to a dramatic end in middleboro. the driver surrendered. let's get to the nightteam susan tran in middleboro with more. >> reporter: he was reported to be armed and avoiding police and when they caught up to him in yarmouth he sped off and they chased him and it wasn't until they got to middleboro that they stopped.

wanting to let go, he made slow move toward police before finally neiling to surrender. ending a slow chase with troop ers that start way out in dennis, 40 miles away. in the pickup this gun was an air pistol. state police started to look for this a 26-year-old from westboro after reports he was threatening to hurt people. they tried to pull him over in your mouth but he sped off, and they chased him. police threw down spike strips but he kept driving on tires that were soon only rims. and you can see the trail that the metal left on the pavement. the chase continued on 495 and throughout dennis police were on the phone with the suspect, where police say he told them he needed medical help, troopers finally stopped him and got only to a stretcher and into an ambulance. he was taken to the hospital and he now faces several charges. we are live in middleboro, susan

>> kim: a major announcement involving nbc and whdh tv. nbc is saying it will not renew its network affiliation with our station and dan hausle reports this sets up a potential storm for tv viewers in the boston area. >>... the last time... >> reporter: some of your favorite nbc programs may be disappearing from the tv screens now that the network announced plans to end its affiliate relationship with whdh tv at the end of the year. station owner says he's happening. plans. >> reporter: ansin says the planned tv vors could violate an agreement that comcast made when they bought nbc for years ago. comcast promised to make sure people could continue to get nbc programs, free, over the air

cable and nbc tells us its programs will air on a signal product cast from wneu in merrimack, new hampshire but if this map based on the fcc shows it doesn't reach half of the city of boston and millions farther south. whdh's sig that will reaches all those viewers. >> they have a right to the station, adon't have a right to violate an agreement win comcast, and nbc and a nilliates and the government. this is not in the public interest, and they will not have half the coverage area, and they will reach less than half of the population. >> reporter: he is not the only one worried. marty walsh says he's keeping a close eye on what's happening. >> one of my concerns it is unclear what the future of nbc

he never saw anything like this before. very strange. >> reporter: you can see in the cell phone video, a man bloodied and in the grass surrounded by emergency workers and people rushing to help after what witnesses say was a case of road rage that turned violent, a man established and suspect though where to be found. people started to come out and put blankets over him. he was bloody in the stomach area, and people said he was stabbed. >> they were trying to move him, obviously he's still alive, hopefully. >> reporter: it happened around 5:00 on granite street and police blocked off the area. the man was taken to the hospital by ambulance and investigators stayed on scene. it is a crime that has many still in disbelief. scary, this is not that bad of a neighborhood. and it is in a wade open spot. -- and it is in a wide open spot.

through the day tomorrow, cloudy and chilly with temperatures between 35 and 42. saturday morning a couple of pockets of patchy freezing drizzle on saturday morning. upper 30s to around 40 and it is not from a storm but high pressure shoving clouds, in to southern new england. this is a storm, this is legit, area of low pressure winding in the center part of the nation, it will pass to our west and when those red arrows go to buffalo and montreal that puts us on the warm side of the storm. sunday it is about rain and wind, i think winds from the south and southeast, coat line gusting 25, and we all get the rain on sunday, comes in late morning and out of here by late evening with most towns about an inch of rain, on the way. and why not snow? we had the cold pockets to new england, like we saw on monday and tuesday but nothing to lock down the cold air, so that when these storms come in to new
